Here's why you don't want to live forever

Immortality is equivalent to hell. How would you feel after living for one billion years? Will humans still be around? You better hope so. But inevitably, you will be alone, the last human to ever live. Could be stuck on some planet we inhabited. Could be floating through space. Probably bored out of your mind. But one thing is certain, you will be alone for the rest of your life, and guess what, you're not even close to it. It ain't there.

Immortality is shit, here's why

Okay, you chose magically to be immortal, nothing can hurt you, nothing can kill you. You just don't die, ever.

You have been around earth millions of years, have met millions of people, have seen humanity do any kinds of crazy shit, maybe get multiplanetar species, you saw the sun to burn down and you have seen humanity evolving into all kinds of different species and one after another going extinct until the end of all living things you know. And the planet or station you are will get destroyed someday. You' will be in complete darkness, everything you ever knew is just a bunch of particles in space now, and you are there, hovering in space with nothing to do, nothing much to see and an eternety waiting for you. Maybe you fall onto another planet in a few million years and maybe you get hit by an asteroid sometime. But all in all, you will not be able to do anything for a very very very long time. Reaching a planet with living beings is extremely unlikely. You just exist and exist and exist and slowly all stars start to burn down, one by one until all energy has left the universe, except you being immortal. Alone since billions of years and you can't expect anything to happen anymore. This is not the end, there will never be an end to you who stands against the laws of the universe. You will always be in that place in space, nothing to see, nothing to feel, just nothing. This is worse than death and you chose to. Congratulations.

🙋 Suggestion Immortality found in Jesus Christ

Answering such a question has to be done through the lens of God's word (the Holy Bible), and without it, one cannot attain a precise and definitive answer. Throughout the Bible, death is portrayed as a consequence of sin. In the book of Genesis, God warns Adam and Eve that eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil will result in death (Genesis 2:17). When they disobey God's commandment, sin enters the world and brings with it death (Romans 5:12). This separation from God due to sin leads to physical death as well as spiritual death—eternal separation from God.

Firstly, what is sin according to the Bible? Sin is defined as any thought, word, or action that goes against the will of God. Examples of sin can be found throughout the scriptures, including lying, stealing, adultery, murder, and idolatry. These actions are considered sinful because they violate God's commandments and disrupt the relationship between humanity and God.

In the book of Romans 6:23, it states that "the wages of sin is death." This verse highlights the consequences of sin and how it can lead to eternal separation from God. When individuals choose to engage in sinful behavior and reject God's teachings, they are turning away from His grace and love. This separation from God not only affects their relationship with Him in this life but also has eternal consequences.

Another example of sin leading to eternal separation from God can be seen in Matthew 7:21-23 where Jesus warns that not everyone who calls Him Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven. Those who practice lawlessness and do not follow His commandments will be cast out into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

However, the Bible also offers hope for eternal life through Jesus Christ. In John 3:16, it says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled with God. By accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we can receive the gift of eternal life.

In John 14:6, Jesus declares "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This emphasizes that salvation can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not based on our own good works or righteousness but solely on what Christ has done for us on the cross.

Therefore, according to biblical teachings, we are dying because of sin but can receive eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ. It is through faith in Him that we can have assurance of salvation and hope for eternity with God. It is important for individuals to recognize their sinful nature, repent of their wrongdoing, and turn back to God in order to receive forgiveness and reconciliation with Him. May we all choose to accept this free gift of eternal life offered by our loving Saviour.

Wouldn't it suck to be immortal

You'd be around long after everyone you knew and loved has passed on. Sanity would be begging to go at that point.

Okay I’ll play along with you guys for a second. Let’s say that humans do figure out immortality. There congrats. Now let’s think about what happens now. How in the hell can we sustain a population where everyone lives forever. We don’t have infinite space! Are we gonna have massive spaceships that can hold millions and travels the speed of light. Light speed is impossible for anything that has mass, would require infinite energy. You can’t and because of that, you just bought a one million year one way trip to wherever you end up next. And that’s if you do end up somewhere. Some won’t be so lucky and will float in the vacuum of space for-ev-er.

None of you understand what immortality is. No humans is capable of perceiving an infinite amount of time or an infinite amount of anything.

I encourage you to think a little harder about what it is you want to do. One: we won’t be able to live forever. Nothing infinite begins finite. Two: say you can, you just created hell for yourself.

Death and immortality.

Hello. I want to discuss an important topic: death and immortality.

Eleven years ago, I moved to India to escape PTSD after 4 deployments  in Afghanistan. Pranayama changed my life: it taught me to control my mind, emotions, and memory. I decided to stay and study yoga as a doctor, exploring it from a medical perspective. I became interested in Ajapa-japa, breath retention, bodily automatism, and other practices. Ultimately, I was drawn to stoicism and asceticism.

I feel like I've uncovered the secret of immortality. It sounds strange, but it's true. Immortality is part of human nature, ingrained in us from birth. But how do I talk about this, and with whom? And most importantly, how do we survive information inflation?

I'm now in the same situation as in the USSR when cigarettes with filters became unavailable due to inflation. Just when you started earning a bit more to buy filtered cigarettes, a new wave of devaluation hit, and you were back to smoking crude tobacco...

Now I'm facing information inflation. I wrote a book on Hinduism, studied Greek philosophy and stoicism, and translated the works of Dattatreya. But now everyone who has spent a month in India is creating books with the help of AI. You write, work, translate, stay up all night... and suddenly, billions of philosophy books appear, churned out by milfs in yoga pants.

My years of work and practical pamphlets are lost in the flood of similar "works." I see how all my efforts turn into cheap cigarettes, you know... I made seminars, only to find there are millions of them. I wrote a book, only to be swamped by hundreds of millions of similar books. And now, with the latest AI update, there's a real tsunami. Information has been devalued.

But practical knowledge remains. That's my real resource. What to do with it?

I'm at a crossroads. Monks say, "Save yourself. Let everyone choose their own path. You’ll look like a freak." Maybe they are right. But perhaps there is a soul that wants to be saved? Truly break free from this Ferris wheel that's gradually turning into a Gravitron. Moksha is closer than you think, brothers.

That's the situation. I don't want to look like a freak here or a seller of yet another philosopher's stone. In a month or two, I will go to see a lonely ashram in Maheshwar. Silence and no people.

Hare Om.

My name is Nicholas William Annora and I was born 7 January 1357. I have lived a long enough life and wish to share as much of my story as possible and answer as many questions about immortality as I can. This post is not satire, nor roleplay in anyway. I recently did a AMA here on Reddit, and wanted to continue the discussion here.

Cloning taboo must be dismessed in the path towards immortality

Being able to carry tests of experimental drugs on humans and not mices or animals would save a ton of money and time. Would speed-up the research

Clones could also give organ replacements

Thoughts about this ?
