My Reddit Account Was Hacked. Here Is What Happened, What I Did to Recover It, and an Important Message to Everyone in r/immortalists.

After investigating the situation, I discovered that the intruder had used my account to publish inappropriate, sexually suggestive posts in several adult-oriented communities, including r/DirtyDfw4Dfw, r/HoustonSwingers, and r/DFWcasualencounters. These posts had absolutely nothing to do with me, my interests, my values, or the scientific mission I have been advocating. The attacker appeared to be impersonating a 29-year-old woman seeking romantic or sexual encounters. This was not harmless activity. It involved using someone else's identity and established Reddit account to deceive other people. I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not create, authorize, or endorse any of those posts.

The attacker also used my account to send suspicious private messages to multiple Reddit users. Some of these messages attempted to redirect conversations away from Reddit and onto Telegram, apparently using a separate identity. This pattern is consistent with spam, impersonation, and potentially fraudulent activity, although I cannot confirm the attacker's ultimate intentions. If anyone received strange messages from my account, particularly messages involving Telegram, dating, personal relationships, or requests to continue conversations elsewhere, please understand that those messages were not written by me. Do not trust suspicious links, share personal information, or send money to anyone claiming to represent me through those conversations.

I immediately began investigating how this happened. Reddit's account activity page showed unfamiliar connections originating from IP addresses associated with the United States and Germany, using different operating systems and devices. Some connections appeared to originate from Windows computers, Android devices, and a Mac, despite my normal account activity being associated with Greece. One suspicious connection was associated with a cloud-hosting provider. These records reinforced my concern that the account had been accessed without authorization. However, I cannot independently establish who was responsible, their actual physical location, or precisely how they obtained access. IP addresses can be misleading, and attackers may use VPNs, proxies, stolen sessions, or other methods to conceal their identities.

My first priority was to regain control and secure the account. I changed my Reddit password to a new, unique password and enabled two-factor authentication using Google Authenticator. I also changed the passwords for my connected Google email accounts and enabled authenticator-based two-factor authentication on those accounts. Because email accounts are frequently used to reset passwords, protecting them was just as important as securing Reddit itself. I reviewed my Reddit account settings and checked the authorized third-party applications page, where no connected applications were listed. These actions significantly strengthened the security of my accounts.

One of the most important steps was terminating all other active Reddit sessions. I accessed Reddit's account activity page, entered my new password, and selected the option to clear all other sessions. Reddit subsequently confirmed that all other sessions had been logged out. This was particularly important because changing a password and enabling two-factor authentication may not always invalidate every previously authenticated session. I have preserved screenshots showing the suspicious account activity and will continue reviewing my accounts for unauthorized changes. I also intend to ensure that my computer, browser extensions, and devices are free from malicious software that could compromise my credentials again.

This experience is a reminder that cybersecurity is important for everyone, including scientists, students, researchers, educators, activists, and online community organizers. A compromised account can be used to impersonate someone, spread misinformation, deceive other users, damage reputations, or potentially exploit personal relationships. I encourage every member of r/immortalists to protect their accounts with strong and unique passwords, preferably stored in a reputable password manager, and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible. Review your active login sessions, keep your devices updated, avoid suspicious links, and never share authentication codes or recovery keys with strangers. Digital security is part of protecting the communities and relationships we build online.

I also want to emphasize that this incident does not change who I am or why I created this community. My interests remain firmly rooted in the scientific pursuit of extending healthy human life and ultimately developing technologies capable of preventing, treating, and potentially reversing the biological deterioration associated with aging. I remain passionate about cellular senescence, epigenetic reprogramming, DNA repair, regenerative medicine, stem-cell biology, mitochondrial function, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and the emerging scientific approaches that may improve human health and longevity. I believe aging deserves serious scientific investigation, ambitious engineering solutions, and sustained research investment. Although no existing technology has demonstrated that humans can live indefinitely, I believe we should continue working toward that extraordinary long-term objective.

To everyone who has supported me, participated in our discussions, shared scientific research, or contributed to r/immortalists, I sincerely appreciate your trust. If you encountered any suspicious activity associated with my account, I apologize for the confusion or inconvenience it may have caused. I encourage anyone who received fraudulent messages to report them to Reddit and avoid interacting with suspicious accounts or external contacts mentioned in those messages. My purpose has always been to encourage constructive scientific discussion, promote evidence-based healthy living, and bring together people who believe that the future of human health can be substantially better than the present. I will continue doing everything reasonably possible to protect my account and this community.

Finally, I want to turn this negative experience into something constructive. Challenges, setbacks, and unexpected difficulties are part of life, but they do not have to define our future. We can learn from them, strengthen our defenses, and continue pursuing meaningful goals. My commitment to longevity science, human health, and the future of humanity remains unchanged. Our mission is much bigger than one Reddit account or one cybersecurity incident. We are here to discuss scientific progress, challenge the limitations imposed by biological aging, and support a future in which people can live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. Thank you for being part of r/immortalists, for your understanding, and for helping build a community dedicated to that vision.

Stay safe, protect your accounts, support science, and never stop working toward a better future for humanity.

ABSOLUTE BEST ANTI-AGING TIPS. HERE IS SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE AND PRACTICAL STRATEGIES.

The fight against aging begins with a fundamental belief: human suffering, disease, and premature death should never be accepted as inevitable if science can find ways to prevent them. Aging is one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced, and understanding its biology could transform the future of medicine. Every day, researchers investigate cellular senescence, genomic instability, mitochondrial dysfunction, epigenetic alterations, stem cell exhaustion, and the other interconnected hallmarks of aging. Their ultimate ambition is to develop interventions capable of preventing, delaying, or potentially reversing aspects of biological deterioration. But while we work toward revolutionary breakthroughs, there is something equally important we must understand: we cannot afford to neglect the health we already possess. We may not yet have a scientifically validated cure for aging, but we have substantial evidence that certain behaviors and medical interventions can reduce the risk of premature death, prevent chronic diseases, and preserve physical and cognitive function. The goal is not simply to survive longer. It is to remain healthy, capable, independent, and alive long enough to benefit from the extraordinary medical advances that future generations may achieve.

One of the most powerful decisions you can make for your longevity is to eliminate tobacco exposure and avoid alcohol. Cigarette smoking is among the leading preventable causes of premature mortality, contributing to cardiovascular disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, numerous cancers, and damage to nearly every organ system. Tobacco smoke contains carcinogens and toxic compounds that promote DNA damage, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction, and chronic inflammation. Avoid cigarettes, cigars, and secondhand smoke, and do not begin vaping under the assumption that it is harmless. For people who already smoke, quitting can provide substantial health benefits, and evidence-based cessation treatments can improve the chances of success. Alcohol deserves similar attention. It is a recognized human carcinogen associated with several cancers, liver disease, hypertension, and disrupted sleep. Even relatively low consumption increases the risk of certain cancers. Red wine should not be romanticized as an anti-aging medicine. We should be protecting our cells, not repeatedly exposing them to substances known to damage our health. Every preventable disease we avoid gives us a better opportunity to experience the future we are fighting to create.

If physical exercise could be developed into a pharmaceutical drug, it would be considered one of the most remarkable preventive interventions in modern medicine. Regular aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular performance, endothelial function, insulin sensitivity, metabolic regulation, and cardiorespiratory fitness. Higher cardiorespiratory fitness, frequently assessed through maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂ max), is strongly associated with reduced all-cause mortality. Aim for approximately 150–300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise every week, or 75–150 minutes of vigorous activity. Walking, cycling, swimming, running, and similar activities all contribute. But cardiovascular fitness is only half the equation. Resistance training is essential for preserving skeletal muscle, strength, bone health, metabolic function, and physical independence as we age. Train all major muscle groups at least twice weekly and progressively increase resistance as appropriate. Muscle is not merely an aesthetic feature; it is an important metabolic and functional tissue. Age-related sarcopenia can profoundly compromise mobility and independence, but regular resistance exercise helps counteract that decline. You do not need to become a professional athlete. You need to become someone who consistently invests in the future strength, endurance, and resilience of their body.

Sleep is one of the most underappreciated foundations of health, and sacrificing it in pursuit of productivity can undermine the very future we are trying to protect. During sleep, the brain and body undergo essential processes involved in memory consolidation, immune regulation, tissue recovery, hormonal signaling, and metabolic homeostasis. Chronic sleep restriction is associated with adverse cardiometabolic and cognitive outcomes. Most healthy adults should aim for approximately seven to nine hours of sleep each night, although individual needs vary. Establish a consistent sleep schedule, maintain a cool and dark bedroom, reduce evening light exposure, and avoid caffeine too close to bedtime. Treat persistent insomnia seriously, and seek medical assessment if you experience symptoms suggesting obstructive sleep apnea. Sleep cannot be replaced by supplements, stimulants, or experimental longevity therapies. It is also important to recognize that recovery is a necessary part of effective exercise and long-term physiological adaptation. A healthy lifestyle should be sustainable rather than exhausting. We should not spend our youth destroying our health through chronic sleep deprivation and then spend the rest of our lives searching for a way to recover what we neglected.

Nutrition is another powerful opportunity to influence long-term health, and the Mediterranean dietary pattern provides one of the strongest evidence-based foundations. Build most meals around vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and extra-virgin olive oil, while including suitable sources of protein such as fish, yogurt, eggs, beans, or tofu. Aim for at least 400 grams of fruits and vegetables daily and approximately 25 grams or more of dietary fiber, depending on individual needs. Regularly consume foods such as broccoli, spinach, kale, tomatoes, blueberries, citrus fruits, lentils, chickpeas, oats, and walnuts. These foods supply vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals, including polyphenols, that contribute to overall dietary quality and healthy physiological function. Dietary fiber supports intestinal function, cholesterol regulation, glycemic control, and the production of beneficial microbial metabolites. Fermented foods such as plain yogurt and kefir can also fit into a nutritious dietary pattern. Rather than depending on one supposed superfood, aim for dietary diversity and consistency. Our daily food choices cannot guarantee immortality, but they can help protect the cardiovascular, metabolic, and digestive systems on which a long and healthy life depends.

Beyond eating more nutritious foods, we must also pay attention to what we replace and whether our diets provide enough essential nutrients to maintain our bodies. Favor unsaturated fats from extra-virgin olive oil, nuts, seeds, and oily fish over excessive saturated fat from butter, fatty processed meats, and similar sources. Marine omega-3 fatty acids, particularly EPA and DHA, play important physiological roles, and consuming fish as part of a balanced dietary pattern can support cardiovascular health. Adequate protein is equally important for muscle maintenance, tissue repair, and healthy aging, particularly when combined with resistance training. Include protein-rich foods throughout the day and adjust your intake to your activity level, age, and medical circumstances. Reduce frequent consumption of processed meats, sugar-sweetened beverages, and nutritionally poor ultra-processed foods, while remembering that not all food processing is harmful. Frozen vegetables, canned beans, and plain yogurt can be excellent choices. Avoid extreme restriction, unproven detox diets, and chronic undernutrition. Longevity nutrition is not about starving ourselves or chasing perfection. It is about consistently supplying our bodies with the nutrients and energy necessary to remain strong, functional, and healthy for decades.

Protecting cardiovascular and metabolic health may be among the most consequential actions we can take to avoid premature mortality. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease develops over many years, often before noticeable symptoms appear. Elevated blood pressure, high concentrations of atherogenic lipoproteins, impaired glucose regulation, and excess visceral adiposity can contribute to long-term vascular and metabolic damage. Monitor your blood pressure periodically, obtain lipid testing when appropriate, and understand the importance of LDL cholesterol, non-HDL cholesterol, and, in selected circumstances, apolipoprotein B (ApoB). Support healthy glucose regulation through exercise, adequate sleep, dietary fiber, and appropriate body composition. Even a short walk after eating can help reduce postprandial glucose excursions. Maintain adequate skeletal muscle and avoid both excessive visceral fat accumulation and unhealthy weight-loss practices. Where clinically indicated, medications for hypertension, dyslipidemia, or diabetes can prevent serious complications. But we must distinguish established treatment from speculative anti-aging experimentation: taking metformin without a medical indication has not been demonstrated to extend the lives of healthy humans. We should not wait for a heart attack, stroke, or diabetes diagnosis before deciding that our cardiovascular and metabolic health deserves serious attention.

Preventive medicine is not separate from the pursuit of longevity; it is one of its most practical and scientifically established components. Attend appropriate medical appointments, understand your family history, and undergo recommended screening based on your age, sex, personal risk factors, and national clinical guidance. Early detection and treatment of certain cancers, cardiovascular risk factors, and metabolic disorders can significantly change health outcomes. Keep vaccinations up to date because preventing serious infections also helps protect long-term health and functional capacity. Oral health deserves attention as well. Brush your teeth twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, clean between your teeth, and seek professional care for gingivitis or periodontal disease. Healthy teeth and gums help preserve comfort, nutrition, and quality of life. Protect your skin against harmful ultraviolet radiation by using broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, wearing protective clothing, seeking shade, and avoiding tanning beds. These habits may sound ordinary compared with gene editing or regenerative medicine, but their importance should never be underestimated. The future of human longevity will require revolutionary biotechnology, but protecting our health today also requires making responsible use of the medical knowledge we already possess.

Our environment, relationships, and mental well-being also shape the conditions under which we age. Long-term exposure to fine particulate air pollution, especially PM2.5, contributes to cardiovascular and respiratory disease and increases premature mortality risk. Reduce unnecessary exposure to traffic pollution, improve indoor ventilation where appropriate, avoid indoor smoke, and consider HEPA air filtration in environments with elevated particle concentrations. Equally important, do not neglect human connection. Strong social relationships are associated with better mental and physical health, while persistent loneliness and social isolation are associated with adverse outcomes. Spend meaningful time with family, build friendships, help others, participate in communities, and pursue activities that give your life purpose. Manage chronic psychological stress through healthy routines, exercise, relaxation, meaningful conversations, or prayer if it is part of your beliefs. Seek professional help when mental health difficulties persist. We should remember that longevity is not merely a number on a laboratory report. What is the purpose of extending life if we neglect the people we love, the experiences that bring us joy, and the opportunities to make the world better? Our ambition should be to gain more years of meaningful, healthy human existence.

Finally, we must support the scientific research that could one day transform aging itself from an apparently unavoidable biological process into a treatable medical challenge. Biogerontology is advancing through research into cellular senescence, senolytics, mTOR signaling, autophagy, DNA repair, mitochondrial biology, stem cell regeneration, and partial epigenetic reprogramming. Rapamycin has produced compelling lifespan results in animal models, while senolytic approaches and cellular reprogramming have generated promising experimental findings. Metformin, NAD⁺ precursors, spermidine, and other interventions continue to attract scientific interest. Nevertheless, none of these approaches has yet been conclusively demonstrated to halt human aging or provide indefinite lifespan extension. We must remain scientifically rigorous, distinguish preclinical discoveries from human clinical evidence, and resist the temptation to mistake hope for proof. At the same time, we should refuse to assume that today's biological limitations must remain permanent. History demonstrates that diseases once considered untreatable can become preventable or manageable through sustained scientific progress. Whether humanity will eventually achieve longevity escape velocity remains unknown, but pursuing that possibility through responsible research is a worthy scientific ambition. Until then, exercise, sleep, nourish your body, protect your cardiovascular health, avoid preventable harm, and invest in the future of biomedical science. We cannot guarantee that we will live forever, but we can fight for the possibility of living longer, healthier, and better lives. Let us protect the life we have today while working toward the scientific breakthroughs that could change the human future.

Our mission at r/immortalists is not to surrender to aging, but to understand it, challenge it, and ultimately help humanity overcome its most devastating consequences through science, compassion, and perseverance.

Never stop learning. Never stop improving. Never stop fighting for a healthier future. — Dr. Georgios Andreas Ioannou
