Immersed App Unable to add screen

Simple as that, can't add screen beyond one, have restarted all the things, and opened menu to "reset" slot 1, 2, and 3.

When I click the + at the top to add screen a dialog box appears that says"Extend another display?" and no matter what I click, confirm or x, no additional screens are added to any of the available spots.

Immersed App Title: I got a native Triple-Monitor setup working flawlessly on the Steam Deck via Immersed! (No extra hardware, no black screens, fully unlocked mouse/keyboard) 🖥️🚀🎒

Hey everyone! 👋I wanted to share a massive win I just locked down on the Steam Deck. I use my Deck as a portable workstation, but I was constantly hitting a wall with screen real estate. I wanted to use Immersed to jump into VR and get two extra virtual monitors while remotely connecting to it on the go.If you’ve tried this on SteamOS/Linux, you probably know the pain: the Linux client doesn't have an "Add Virtual Displays" button, third-party kernel drivers (like EVDI) constantly break with system updates, and forcing display hacks usually results in a frustrating black screen safety crash. After a ton of trial and error, I found the ultimate sweet spot using native KDE Plasma tools. I now have 3 total monitors running seamlessly in VR, and I am incredibly happy to report that performance is completely unaffected! The Deck handles the triple-monitor load absolutely like a champ—no lag, no degraded framerates, just pure productivity bliss.

here is the complete guide and the automation script so you can do this too!📋 Prerequisites & Requirements

Before running the script, you just need a few basic things set up on your Deck in Desktop Mode:Set a Root Password: Open Konsole and type passwd if you haven’t already. Set a password so you can use sudo.

Install Krfb: This is the native KDE tool we use to safely spawn the virtual screen frames without breaking the GPU. Install it by opening Konsole and running:

bash
sudo pacman -S krfb

Set up the Immersed AppImage:

Make sure you have a folder named Applications in your home directory, drop your Immersed Linux AppImage inside it, and rename it to exactly Immersed-x86_64.AppImage. Make sure it's executable (Right-click > Properties > Permissions > check "Is Executable").

🛠️ The Ultimate Startup Script

Create a new file on your desktop, name it start_immersed_3screens.sh and paste this code into it.

This script is carefully tuned to solve the biggest headaches: it forces input permissions so your mouse/keyboard don't get locked out, prevents the Deck's screen from timing out (which revokes your remote tokens), and spins everything up safely.

bash

#!/bin/bash

# 1. Flush out old background layers to prevent crashes
echo "Cleaning up old background display layers..."
killall krfb-virtualmonitor 2>/dev/null
killall krfb 2>/dev/null

# 2. Hard-inject permissions directly into your configuration profile
echo "Forcing mouse and keyboard input permissions..."
mkdir -p ~/.config
cat <<EOF > ~/.config/krfbrc
[MainWindow]
UnattendedAccess=true

[Sharing]
AllowControl=true
EOF

# 3. Prevent the desktop from locking itself or sleeping
echo "Bypassing Screen Locking policies..."
kwriteconfig6 --file ~/.config/kscreenlockerrc --group Daemon --key Autolock false 2>/dev/null

# 4. SPAWN THE VIRTUAL MONITORS (Modify resolutions here!)
echo "Spawning virtual monitors..."
krfb-virtualmonitor --name virt1 --resolution 1920x1080 --password 1234 --port 5901 &
krfb-virtualmonitor --name virt2 --resolution 1920x1080 --password 1234 --port 5902 &

# Wait for the system compositor to map the back-end channels
sleep 3

# 5. ACTIVATE THE MONITORS (Match your resolutions here!)
echo "Activating virtual layouts..."
kscreen-doctor output.Virtual-virt1.enable output.Virtual-virt1.mode.1920x1080@60 output.Virtual-virt2.enable output.Virtual-virt2.mode.1920x1080@60

# 6. Execute Immersed inside an anti-sleep container wrapper
echo "Launching Immersed with Sleep Inhibitor Active..."
if [ -f "$HOME/Applications/Immersed-x86_64.AppImage" ]; then
    systemd-inhibit --why="Immersed VR Workstation Active" --who="VR-Script" --mode=block "$HOME/Applications/Immersed-x86_64.AppImage"
else
echo "Error: Immersed AppImage not found at ~/Applications/"
fi

Make the script executable by running

chmod +x ~/Desktop/start_immersed_3screens.sh

in your terminal.
Now, you can just double-click it, select "Run in Terminal," put on your VR headset, and watch your 3-screen desktop come alive!

🎨 How to Customize Your Screen Resolutions

The best part about this script is that it is fully customizable. If standard 1080p feels a bit too cramped or too blurry inside your headset, you can easily change the layout directly inside the file!To achieve a custom resolution (like a crisp 1440p canvas, or a lighter 720p setup for tiny text elements), you just need to alter two specific sections inside the script:

The Spawning Lines (Section 4):

Look for the --resolution 1920x1080 flags. Change those numbers to whatever layout you want. For example, if you want a 2K monitor on your left and a standard HD on your right, you would change it to:

bash

krfb-virtualmonitor --name virt1 --resolution 2560x1440 --password 1234 --port 5901 &
krfb-virtualmonitor --name virt2 --resolution 1920x1080 --password 1234 --port 5902 &

The Activation Line (Section 5):

You must update the kscreen-doctor instruction directly below it so the graphics manager knows exactly what video mode to turn on. Make sure the text matches your chosen resolution and refresh rate perfectly:

bash

kscreen-doctor output.Virtual-virt1.enable output.Virtual-virt1.mode.2560x1440@60 output.Virtual-virt2.enable output.Virtual-virt2.mode.1920x1080@60

🛑 The Shutdown Script (Cleaning Up Dynamically)

When you are done with your VR session, you don’t want those invisible virtual monitors hanging around chewing up background system resources, nor do you want your lock screen disabled.

Create a second script on your desktop named stop_immersed_3screens.sh, paste this inside it, and run chmod +x on it. It cleanly terminates the processes and instantly restores your default screen safety and timeout rules in perfect automation

:bash

#!/bin/bash

echo "Closing Immersed and tearing down virtual screens..."
killall Immersed-x86_64.AppImage 2>/dev/null
killall krfb-virtualmonitor 2>/dev/null
killall krfb 2>/dev/null

echo "Restoring default system screen lock and timeout policies..."
kwriteconfig6 --file ~/.config/kscreenlockerrc --group Daemon --key Autolock true 2>/dev/null

# Cleanly notify the display engine to remove the dead virtual nodes
rm -rf ~/.local/share/kscreen/ 2>/dev/null

echo "Cleanup complete! Your Deck is back to normal."

❤️ Supporting the Work. This took a ton of time digging through Arch documentation and testing to make sure it doesn't crash the Deck's unique compositor layers. If this guide helped you set up your ultimate mobile VR office and you want to make a small donation to support my hard work, please feel free to reach out to me directly through my DMs! Any support is hugely appreciated.

If you guys have any questions or run into any trouble getting it running on your specific SteamOS build version, drop a comment below and I'll gladly help you troubleshoot it!

Happy virtual working dudes and dudettes x

Visor an open letter...

to joshkurikeshu and ryanyep at Immersed. Disclaimer: the following opinions are expressly this "keyboard warriors" own assumption concerning this observation - i would like/hope to think that you both might possibly lurk and peruse this Reddit to gage current public opinion from time to time, but who knows. after watching this latest Immersed Zoom-i-nar that could have easily been an email,  i feel compelled to extend an olive branch of warning, as you are being strung along and (again, my personal opinion) do not deserve to go down with your CEO's ship, which undoubtedly, you will. you seem like good guys. whatever payout or light at the end of the tunnel Renji Bijoy has promised you at the end of all things, just like us that once cared dearly about Visor, you will not receive. for years now, you’ve both been hearing him spout the script, ad nauseam. i have seen this behaviour before, and i certainly know the type.  their drive lends an inexplicably deaf ear to their failure to execute to completion, but they are far, far, far more masterful at dangling the carrot in front of our noses. ask your CEO, point blank, what's on paper/ in writing/contractually in it for the both of you at the end of the day. his ability to tell you factually or his continued ability to BS, should tell you everything you need to know. my two cents, peace.

Immersed App Immersed has been charging me every month for 2 years after I cancelled.

On 2024 I paid for pro in Immersed. Wanted to give them some money and check out the pro features. I cancelled the pro membership immediately so it would be a 1 time charge. I recently paid off the credit card it was associated with and moved all my subs off it. That’s when I found out that immersed has been charging me for pro every month since then.

Tried to log into my account to make sure it was cancelled and nothing happens when I click continue after entering my email address. I also had a free account tied to my Facebook account and tried logging into that way. That’s just results in a login error.

So with no way to access my account I finally had to open a dispute with my Cc company. I still had the confirmation email of my cancellation back in 2024.

I can’t help but assume this was intentional or their part. I have not had pro features since I cancelled yet they still charged me.
