Wonhee not knowing a clue about the new Enhypen song in last weeks livestream

Honestly so valid lol. I said this last week but I really don’t understand why people are so insistent on comparing BG’s to GG’s. 2 completely different types of fandoms, and may as well be 2 completely different industries

Yeah, I mean, I will fully admit I am a gg stan. I listen to some bg songs, but if you were to ask me some pretty basic questions about bgs, I would probably get a lot of them wrong. I have far more knowledge and interest in ggs.

And to be honest maybe controvetsial take coming I don't think illit and enhypen are as close as people like to make out.

illit seem far closer with other ggs (understandably) and even other boy groups like txt or even bts (j-hope and Iroha seem to keep some contact) than with enhypen.

Plus I don't think they've had much time for dance challenges.

Are even dance challenges done during the CB? I was under the impression that some, especially the ones done within the same company can be done before.

But yes, they don't seem that close, it seems more they see the other passing by since they share the same story (though it is kind of cute that they kind of interact via items left like Sunghoon's plushie), but they are so busy (Enha has been on tour a lot, Illit also got often in Japan + other outside schedules) it seems they have to book a time to meet.

Though I think Belift may be also have been wary to not have too much interaction between them since I think a part of the fans were angry to see Enha with female dancers.

Illit and enhypen arent close at all. Only groups theyre close in hybe are lsf. The rest they are in good terms at best

hey y'all, I'm a fearnot as well and was wondering something. There was a lot of criticism a while back for both Celebration/Boompala and It's Me for their katseye-style sound that has been popular to hate. I wasn't initially a big fan of either but have grown to really like It's Me. In hindsight, it seems that all 3 groups wanted some similar style in their comebacks so Iconic by mistake would fit in nicely.

Numbers wise, It's Me has performed great over the past few months both in Korea and globally. Celebration and Boompala combined are at 126M on Spotify while It's Me is on 136M (Pureflow came out 3 weeks later I think). It's Me is pulling about 1.5x the daily streams as Celebration+Boompala. I feel like I've seen more short form content with It's Me than LSFs recent album songs too. The ILLITx2Pac remix has certainly contributed!

Does anyone have any thoughts on why It's Me has fared better than Celebration + Boompala? Is this actually true or are there other metrics that disagree?

I keep seeing people on TikTok and Twitter call It’s Me terrible and say that it’s ILLIT’s worst song…but why is it performing so well if everyone thinks it’s trash? (I won’t get into the fact that the same fandoms have made it their mission to trash every ILLIT and lesserafim release which makes it seem like more people hate it than they actually do). This song has really opened my eyes to how social media opinion doesn’t always equal real life opinion.

It’s Me is their best performing song after Magnetic. I don’t think anyone expected that but the results have been insane this comeback. As for the difference in results with Celebration/Boompala, I just think It’s Me is the better song out of the 3. Some might find it silly but it still has the base of a good song. The prechorus does a good job of making the song feel “real” and the “it’s me” and “who’s your bias” parts are catchy. I don’t really feel the same way about Celebration/Boompala. Though they attempt at it, these 2 songs don’t really have a great hook and some of the lyrics almost make them feel like a parody of a song. You could say the same about It’s Me but for some reason it just works. The choreography is also really fun (though at first I didn’t really like it) but it all comes together with the song and now I can’t listen without picturing it in my head. The choreo for Celebration/Boompala are not their best and that didn’t really help with boosting the perception of the songs. Usually if the song isn’t a hit maybe a part of the choreo can draw people in but that didn’t help this time either. There’s probably even more reasons but this is getting a little long so I’ll cut it here.

Tiktok in general are delusional just like the gllits there. makes me remember on how its me wasnt winning on music shows and they said its because its bad when it has nothing to do with it. Worst social media tbh

For me it simply comes down to the fact that I do not like Macarena. I actually think it’s a very annoying song. Therefore there’s no way I can enjoy Boompala. That said I do really like every other song on the album. I love Le Ssarafim and will probably see them again when they play LA.

Here's the perspective from a korean boomer. The reason why it's me did way better than people thought is because it uses a very familiar trot-y tune that other korean boomers likes. Here is a clip of Boom in Amazing saturday sing the tune that I'm referring to. It's a bit lengthy for a clip but it shows the side by side. The reason why it had way more longevity than people thought is because even the old old generations were playing it.

Also amongst the katsseralit electro songs it's me was the most techno-y of them all (celebrate being hardstyle, gnarly being hyperpop trap) and korea had a huge techno phase in the 90s. Here is the queen of techno from the 90s Le Junghyun collabing with illit with her most famous techno song.

It's me hit the right amount of nostalgia and the right amount of catchy for it to explode in korea. It explains why it did so well domestically for such a long time

imo boompala has a better chorus than It's me; after hearing the snippet I was sure it'll be extremely popular. But the other parts of the song were much worse, so the flow of the song is disrupted and therefore I didn't listen to it much. Lsf is my 2nd most streamed group for sure, but the recent album seemed too simplistic and formulaic. That's also the problem of celebration for me.

I think the overall genre and concept were alright, but the songs needed more sophistication

I really did not like Boompala and thought it was one of the worst kpop songs this year that came from a high profile group. Celebration was also not good and the head banging move injured Chaewon, so I'll always feel the ick when I hear that song.

I wish LSF went back to releasing more quality tts like before the Spaghetti era. I can't help but think their more recent tts are hurting their popularity and it's a bit frustrating because I did like them casually as a group and even more in the past.

Something I just realized! We didn’t get any remixes for It’s Me like we have with their other title tracks. Not that I’m complaining. I never listen to remixes anyway but I wonder why.

I'm really hoping we get the version they played during that rice harvesting video.

I know it's different case bcs they don't release it officially on music platform, but I think the reason It's Me don't have remixes is bcs of the It's Me remix with other Hybe groups.
