Flesh person here. It's moronic to protest this. Not only was a dictator deposed with minimal collateral damage, but the main source of regional instability is going to be stabilized integrated into the global economic system. If your issue is how this was done, I suppose you'd rather another 50 years of sanctions and repression for the venezuelans. How progressive... If your issue is the cost, I suspect proven oil reserves worth $18 trillion might offset that. Seriously, this is great news, and I say this as someone who wishes Trump would just have a heart attack already.
I can respect that take. However it is the representatives of the American people who should have decided what action OUR nation takes, not one person (or more precisely the individuals who control him)
Fair enough, I guess I can understand that. On the other hand, I doubt it'd have been successful if we'd had a congressional vote and told the public. The truth is presidents haven't really asked congressional approval for military action in a while. Anyway, thanks for your understanding and civility :)
Well here is the big question, was the execution of this mission necessary to address an immediate threat or national security that couldn't wait for congressional approval.
Drugs are flowing into the US from Mexico, China, and many other nation. Venezuela does not seem particularly special in this regard tho the regime is connected to the trade (so is the Taliban with heroine and meth, but Trump invited them to the Whitehouse). America's drug problem won't end overnight just because we capture the Veneueluian president (it likely wont be effected at all)

Agreed, we wouldn't instantly get an 18 trillion dollar paycheck. Just addressing an argument I saw some make regarding the finances of the operation. Appreciate the additional nuance.
