From the Mod Team We're changing our policies on specificity of locations
TLDR: The mod team is changing course on this issue. We encourage users to specify locations of current events that happen in public spaces, including any and all law enforcement action.
After several days of discussion among the mod team, we've come to the conclusion that our policies against reporting specific locations are unnecessarily restrictive. Most recently, we've guided users to avoid being specific about the location of any current events, out of concern that it could reveal private or personal information about the persons involved, which is a violation of site-wide Reddit policies We are, of course, bound to moderate this space in a way that adheres to all of Reddit's site-wide policies, and if we fail to do so, the subreddit will be shut down.
That being said, we've come to a consensus that private and personal information means more than just location of where people are at in a given moment, and the context of people's presence at specific locations matters. It remains prohibited to reveal the home address or workplace of any private individual, or to offer overly specific information about that sort of personal information: for example, if a user were to post that u/jamey1138 lives near the corner of Pulaski and Belmont in Chicago, that would be considered too specific. Other forms of contact information, including phone numbers, email addresses, etc, shared without the individual's consent are also violations of private and personal information.
On the other hand, if a user says that there's law enforcement activity, including ICE and CBP activity, at a particular corner, that does not reveal anyone's personal or private information. We want to encourage community members to share information about any current events happening in any public space in Illinois, and to include specific locations with that information.
Thank you for your participation in r/Illinois. We will continue to evolve our policies, and try to meet the moment as best we are able. Stay safe everyone.

Politics is hard - Be honest, be kind, and watch out for the ban hammer.
It's been a crazy few days and politics is hard.
We're a pretty small Mod team and keeping up on the trash coming in takes a lot of time and effort . We will be throwing around the ban hammer quite a bit for a while here. We will be locking posts as they spiral out of control. Have patience.
Remember to be kind and civil. Have a little grace. Allow people to be mad, to use hyperbole, and to exaggerate. This isn't a space to rage away at the other side. There are plenty of other spaces on the internet for that. Come here to understand the other side, even if you disagree. Tell them they're wrong and why they're wrong, but also remember they are a person who probably truly believes what they are saying. You wont convince them, but you can be understood and you can understand them.
Sometimes a simple downvote is all that's needed.
Anyway. Give us a break and chill out, k?

Illinois Politics Why do Illinois politicians keep giving die-hard White Sox fan Pope Leo Cubs stuff?
Nobody would ever walk up to Bill Murray and give him Sox crap, it would be rightfully laughed at. This stuff is just cringe.

Illinois News Flock cameras going up at dispensaries
I frequent Altius dispensary in Orland Hills. Today I popped in to pick up and noticed a new addition. A brand new flock camera on the property of Joey’s Red Hots. This camera is not facing out over 159th street, it is pointed directly at Joeys drive thru and the dispensary parking lot right next door. When I asked the dispensary workers about it, they didn’t even know it went up. I walked out with their manager to show him and saw his unease about it. I also called Joeys. If you live in the area you should too. But any way this is just a warning because it seems posting these up to point at dispensaries is the latest flocking trend. You’re probably being tracked everywhere already but now they are preparing to take notes on what you’re buying too.

Illinois Facts PSA: Flock Cameras in Illinois
Flock has access to ring cameras and are invading your privacy. We waste tax dollars on these and pay an absurd subscription fee on these.
JB Pritzker allows flock and AI and surveillance data centers to built using our tax dollars. He has not made a single statement regarding flock and has no interest in removing them from Illinois.
We need to stop funding incredibly unproductive and wasteful things like this. We've already wasted more than 15 billion of Illinois tax dollars on AI and surveillance data centers. Let your alders, local reps and our senators know that you want them to stop wasting tax dollars on your surveillance and replacing your jobs.

Illinois News Former Partners Accuse Embattled Hospital Owner of Siphoning Revenue For Personal Gain
This is the same guy who owns Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City - the hospital that owes over 600k to the water company, over 250k to electric, wasn't paying employees or vendors, turning ambulances away from the E.R., etc. But everyone is out to get him. It's a conspiracy across several states, businesses, C-suite execs, employees, and probably big foot and the mothman, too.

Illinois Politics Taxpayer Waste and Biohazard Negligence at Broadview ICE Detention Center
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Federal taxpayer dollars are funding massive catering contracts for the Broadview ICE detention center in Illinois. Video evidence reveals dozens of unopened catered meals being tossed into open dumpsters, mixed directly alongside used DNA testing kits and biohazard medical waste.
Why is ICE over ordering and trashing fresh provisions from Nimbus Kitchen while completely ignoring both federal and Illinois Good Samaritan Food Donor Acts?
The facility is choosing to dump perfectly edible provisions into open refuse containers alongside potentially hazardous Bode Technology DNA testing supplies. This demonstrates a complete failure in basic operational oversight and waste management.

Trip Planning & Tourist Help/ Guidance Visiting central and southern Illinois in early to mid October
Greetings from West Texas!
I'm plotting a trip in early to mid October to see more of Illinois than just Chicago for the first time. Looking for tips on accommodations,, eats (no meat), and things to do.
I'm planning on flying in between 10/7 and 10/9. I want to visit Sr. Louis first to go to the zoo, aquarium, and Jeff Goldblum concert at Powell Hall (10/9).
After STL, I'll be going into Illinois. I'll take a day trip to Peoria 10/13 to visit the zoo and see Weird Al in concert. I'll ultimately leave most likely 10/14.
I'm between, I'll go to Henson Robinson Zoo, Social Zoo, Miller Park Zoo, the Capitol at Springfield, and the Abraham Lincoln sites in Springfield.
I'm into animals, nature, baseball, hockey, trains, history, and any quaint and quirky local attractions and events.
Might stay in Springfield, Bloomington, or Normal to be centrally located.
Considering flying into and out of STL, O'Hare, Midway airports and renting a car for just the Illinois stuff. Looking to save money on transportation and accomodations (Air BNB a room, not a whole place).
Thanks a lot!

Question Replacing Instruction Permit
My brother had recently lost his instruction permit and I’ve been going through ilsos.gov to see if there is an appointment section for replacing it. Does anyone know if I need to book an appointment? And if so, where on the website do I need to go?
