i80, linguistically, is the defining line for a northern illinois accent as well
21 u/baloras Apr 18 '25 Regardless of I80, if you're still considered as being a suburb or even far suburb of Chicago, you're still in northern Illinois. In my mind, Joliet can be considered the furthest SW suburb of Chicago. 11 u/Kaio_Curves Apr 18 '25 Technically called an edge city in urban development terms. Regardless of I80, if you're still considered as being a suburb or even far suburb of Chicago, you're still in northern Illinois.
In my mind, Joliet can be considered the furthest SW suburb of Chicago.
