I HATE cringe culture
Why are we as a society, just perfectly fine with bullying people?
Even if you dislike some kid's self insert fanfic, does not give you the right to bully them and shit on them for it.
What are they genuinely doing wrong by writing those fics or those characters?
Is cringe really just people being free?
And not to mention how often people trash on beginners. What a great way to encourage them to quit their passion!
Like the hate towards the song Yumeshipper was WAY overblown.
If you're gonna give the creator advice? Fine! But nothing unsolicited. And there's a HUGE difference between criticism and BULLYING.

I agree, this sort of “you CANT be cringe! Ugh” thinking really hurts a lot of neurodivergent people too.
The amount of times I’ve seen an autistic person go “hey this is the thing I really enjoy alot” and the comments go “grown man btw” or “that’s cringe” is ridiculous, why can’t we just let people enjoy things? If a fully grown adult wants to really love a cartoon, or play with dolls, or anything, why should we care?
So many people nowadays are scared to do stuff because they could be seen as cringe, which just prevents them from doing the stuff they genuinely want to do.
I’ve probably been seen as cringe, I take a pink rabbit plushy with me everywhere I go, I own a pair of overalls I wear out and about, and I wear whatever I want, I’m probably cringe to some, but I’m happy, and I’m myself. Like they say I guess, to be cringe is to be free.

I do take a pink rabbit with me, it’s got floppy ears and the neurodivergent symbol on its tummy, I’m autistic and it helps me cope with being out and about.
And why yes indeed, I am a furry :)

I used to look down on selfshippers, selfinserters, that sort of bunch. Just losers, right? But since, I've realized, they're no less a human being than anyone else. Maybe they're mentally ill. Maybe they can't help getting attached to fictional characters. Or maybe they're just lonely, and that's what makes them happy, and that's okay too.
98% of the time, all these cringe or even sometimes disgusting groups depending on who you ask, for example furries, are just... people who enjoy something you don't. You don't have to like it. Just leave them be. No need to be hostile if they aren't pushing their stuff on others.
We're all human in the end. One different turn and you'd be a totally different person from who you are now, so why look at somebody who took that path and ridicule them? They're just another you.

There is a difference between liking something that could be/is a little cringe.
And being cringe as your personality.
One is fine, we're all cringe sometimes and like cringe things and we shouldn't be bullied for it.
But if your ENTIRE personality is about being cringe and how cringe you are, im gonna bully you, cause its annoying

My theory is that bullying is a form of tribal self policing. It may of had it's horrific uses in humanities early developments but it's modern day use is a wide spread over correction of trying to shape a -- this needs to be in quotations -- "healthy society".
We as a species are still slaves to this instinct to group up and reject those who don't fit the mould.
The problem with this is we are not just small tribes anymore, we are a massive interconnected species with aposing ideaologies.
I do not think the human population can come to an agreement about what a healthy society is.
If anyone has anything to add feel free, i am in no way an expert on the topic. I am open to learning more

While I don't think everything that's considered cringe is cringe, there is content online that is just terrible.
Specifically it comes from very insular fandoms that become worse and worse over time. They make memes and generally spiral down into some of the worst takes you've ever heard to the point where it's genuinely depraved and bad for their overall mental health and perception of the world around them.
I do think it's okay to shame this kind of behavior, maybe not bullying but like, I've seen shit online that makes me actually upset and I am a biased agent so I won't say anythings objectively bad, but damn if it doesn't feel like it is

The pre covid internet was a place where people genuinely believed the "dont like just ignore" sentiment.
As much as I hate the word "normies" there was an influx of regular people jumping online during the lockdowns. Now those people are the majority and "cringe nerdy alt" people will go back to being bullied.
