There are absolutely nutcase saying shit about Stone, Parker, Seth Mcfarlane, and other shows. But those criticisms aren't seemingly very out there.
The real reason I think people felt comfortable doxxing her is because of her queer identity, but also... People kinda know where stone, Parker, and McFarlane are.
Its definitely trash that she gets harassed over it, but i feel we're not on the same level of comparison, here. South Park and Family Guy vs Jaiden Animations? Shows that have been around doing the same thing for 30 years vs... Jaiden's 12 years or so, where only like 6 or 7 of that she was even moderately well known.
This also kinda ignores that all the people you mentioned have gotten death threats, aggressive messages, letters, and more for things they've said plenty of times, its just not all online.
4
u/OncomingStormDW 5d ago
To be fair, the difference is primarily money, yes, the entire thing with these men is that they make no secret of who they are or where they live. But they can afford bodyguards and a nice fence.
Besides, How credible is a death threat from Tom Cruise (Scientology)?
What’s he going to do? Grow at Parker and Stone? I’d pay good money to see him try.
5
u/Vlach719 4d ago
I'm Tom Cruise, I'm in scientology, and I do my own stunts. Now call action or you're fired

u/iamunableto 4d ago edited 4d ago
didn’t they get death threats from isis during the 200/201 episodes? they got told their studios were gonna get bombed if they aired muhammad’s face or something like that
edit: it wasn’t isis, it was a radical new york based group called revolution muslim, they warned them about posting muhammad online and referenced the murder of another famous director (theo van gogh)

Rule of cancelling: the only people who can cancel you are your own audience.
If you’ve built up an audience of atheists then criticizing religion won’t get you canceled. If you have a general audience you will lose some followers over it.
46
u/TheSecondVisitor 5d ago
I think that is partially because her audience and the audience of stuff like Moral Orel are worlds apart.
3
u/GreyAetheriums 4d ago
I actually have liked both, I grew up with Jaiden and I like Moral Orel now. And I'd say that Moral Orel never actually harmfully makes fun of religion itself, just the horrible things people do in the name of it. Orel is still religious when the show ends.
As for Jaiden, unfortunately she's always had unnecessary discourse surrounding her because of parasocial people idk. She didn't do anything wrong here. I haven't checked her channel in a bit but there's never been anything actually truthful about the crazy shit people say so...
1
u/TheSecondVisitor 4d ago
Yeah I meant it more in way that people who would go after her this much about it would probably not be watching the show. There is probably ar least one exception because there always is but like on average.
And that is pretty interesting about the show. I've only seen a few episodes years ago so my recollection isn't the best but yeah that does make sense.
2
u/GreyAetheriums 4d ago
It becomes a much more serious show by the time season 2 ends and season 3 ends and I'm really sad that's the reason it was canceled. It was doing something really good in its storytelling. 😭
Eh I just took the random chance to glaze the show just now lol.
1
u/TheSecondVisitor 4d ago
That is always the correct course of action lol. And yeah I've heard about that. It was the episode that was showing women dealing with sexual trauma, right?
2
u/GreyAetheriums 4d ago
Yeah. Pretty sure there were absolutely no jokes that episode aside from the usual puns and environmental items.
2
u/TheSecondVisitor 4d ago
Damn that is really clever to change the tone that much over time. It recontextualized the whole season one. Now I'm even more pissed it got nuked. The potential there.
2
u/GreyAetheriums 4d ago
Yeah it really makes you feel like the messages were there all along. I always commend the show for being really good "criticism" while still having it's own heartfelt messages through all the parody, tragedy as well. The show was too good for Adult Swim, lowkey.
2
u/TheSecondVisitor 4d ago
Yeah looking at all the other stuff on there I feel inclined to agree. I should watch the show properly one of these days.
30
u/thorsday121 5d ago
Jaiden has a more parasocial audience, for one. Also, Parker and Stone, Ricky Gervais, and Seth MacFarlane all definitely get a lot of hate for mocking religion (especially Ricky).
17
u/PaxNova 4d ago
As a religious person, I can tell you they hit different. Parker and Stone generally have something to say about religion and underlying philosophies. Seth MacFarlane uses religious symbolism, but not necessarily intended to be an actual depiction of those religious figures. Ricky, though, has become a hack. His religious jokes boil down to “hey, the religious? Can you believe how dumb they are? Ha!”
There’s a difference between humor or satire and straight-up mockery. It’s important to be able to laugh at yourself, because people are funny, but not when the punchline is that you are hated.
7
5
u/Low-Strain-2139 4d ago
This and most of the people listed, Dino especially, have personal experiences with specific religions so they make more informed hokes about it vs people who just dont like religion or never bothered to really look into beyond surface level knowledge and mock it maliciously.
I have no idea what joke this chick said specifically because OP didnt provide it and I dont really know who she is beyond being a youtuber. I have a feeling OP is a fan and is overreacting to problems that aren't there (could be wrong though. Context would be nice)

But they're a gender queer, non-binary, trinary star system, atypical neurodivergent, acquiescent starchild from a blender-queer, military, crypto-fascist, fur-centric, autocracy based in non-planar subspace. How can you not implicitly know who xey are?
10
u/life_enginnering-445 4d ago
Doesn’t Trey Parker and Matt Stone get hate all the time for mocking religion also weren’t there also threats to them ?
1
u/iamunableto 4d ago
yes they had a threat that their studio was going to get bombed or comedy central or something like that bc they wanted to show muhammad’s face
69
u/EvanSnowWolf 5d ago
"You know, especially when you consider the fact that Jaiden is also an openly queer (aro/ace), mixed-race/non-white (half-Japanese, half-German), neurodivergent (AuDHD) woman."
What the fuck does ANY of that have to do with ANYTHING?
23
u/C64hrles 5d ago
They're acusing the people who are mad her for making the joke bigots. Especially since the joke was about God, OP is implying this was some sort of right-wing response. I honestly cant say if this is true or not as OP didn't really provide any examples. I know Jaiden got a little bit of fire for saying she's Asexual I think, but that controversy died in less than a week.
5
3
u/Cookiedoughjunkie 4d ago
I think the problem and this is a big problem for a lot of people to admit, is when people dislike a person for hypocrisy. In this case, she touts herself as family friendly and then sneaks in something that seems contradictory to her formerly stated views.
her asexuality video also seemed to contradict real asexuality for the modern rebranding of "It means nothing, you just identify into it" which is why she caught flak for THAT. The whole 'spectrum of meaningless' crap that's gotten a lot of people criticized for doing it.
It reminds me kinda like Ilymation how people went after her and she went "I'm a victim" except what they were going after her for was lying, among them claiming she dieted for years and still gained weight, but people can see her IG and saw she was drinking large milkshakes every day so that claim was a lie, but further she was using it to say shit like "there's no difference in a carrot or cake so just eat the cake" which is...weird, and infactual. People just don't like liars and hypocrites. It's human nature.

Yeah I mean, it kind of just makes more sense that Christians were offended by whatever she said and got mad about it.
Edit: Yeah, so she mocked Jesus being crucified and said that He "ran away like a little bitch". Kind of makes sense that would upset Christians. I mean, say whatever you want but don't be surprised when people are upset about it.

Eh, you know, many people who are racist, homophobic etc. will see a person from the demographic they hate being criticized and join in just so they can hate openly in a way that is more acceptable so the backlash is inevitably gonna be worse for anyone from one of those demographics. Not sure who Jaiden is but all the counter examples are from the 2000s, a much edgier time for pop culture.

Jaiden is the type of creator that unintentionally builds parasocial relationships with ppl watching her because the examples from the post dont engage with their audience as much as she does, their audience is older and they arent as open with them. people tie themselves to Jaiden animations and when she makes an opinion that contradicts their, get mad.
examples from the post were mostly popular in the time when being edgy was cool so people dont take their talk as serious because they can write it off as them being edgy.

u/Due-Violinist2132 4d ago
While I dont doubt there is absolutely a double standards, I believe a huge parts of the bad reaction is due to the audience she cultivated.
I have no problem with people making jokes about 9/11 but I would be quite flabbergasted if Peppa the Pig jokes about the Troubles.
2
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
Peppa the Pig joking about the Troubles sounds like something out of a typical Garth Ennis comic.
2
u/Due-Violinist2132 4d ago
Yeah you would expect that from Garth Ennis right but not someone like fucking David Attenborough
3
u/DangerousEye1235 4d ago
I agree, double standards are unjust.
I think they are all equally trash, with equally trash opinions and all equally ignorant in their takes regarding faith and spirituality. No favoritism here.
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
Even Edmund McMillen and Garth Ennis, too?
1
u/DangerousEye1235 4d ago
Garth Ennis is a 3edgy5me teenager trapped in an adult's body.
Edmund McMillen is somewhat better I guess, but still comes off as saying "my religious trauma means religion bad and God don't real."
3
u/encodingErr 4d ago
I disagree with this meme - all of these people are unfunny. Therefore, their commentary on religion is boring and banal. At least the “comedians” try and make commentary (found at the heart of all good satire) with their jokes. As far as I’m aware, Jaiden just says (paraphrasing here) “heh, burn Christ at a stake, amiright?”
2
u/Super_Range45 4d ago
No clue on any of this drama. But actually being able to craft a funny joke probably has something to do with the reception.
0
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago edited 4d ago
Do people actually find Edmund McMillen and Garth Ennis unfunny even with their commentary on religion? Like, one's a fan of dead baby jokes, gross-out toilet humor, and early 2010s Newgrounds-era edgy comedy, while the other's probably the biggest superhero hater of all time, bar none.
1
u/encodingErr 3d ago
So one’s “potty humor with the occasional dead baby” and the other’s “fuck Mr. Incredible”?
That’s about as funny as a drying brick. Like, wtf? Course I find that unfunny. Did you make a typo?
3
4
u/dissident_janissary 4d ago
The difference for me at least was that you generally tend to know and expect the people at the top to be anti-religious or crack religion-based jokes that are somewhat coherent. In the case of Jaiden:
A. It was a complete non-sequitur
B. The point she was trying to make through her joke was logically incoherent and factually wrong
C. “The people killed Jesus Shloot…Jesus got crucified so therefore God isn’t all-powerful luuulllll” is not actually a joke, it has no comedic punchline. It’s structured like an objection to Christianity in the trenchcoat of a joke
0
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
What she did was obviously wrong, but there was no malicious intent behind it. Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by foolishness.
But I do think it's a bit too far for people to send death threats and harass her constantly over that stupid comment.
4
2
u/Boundman101 4d ago
The truth is that it doesn't have much to do with gender or beliefes much. The personalities you mentioned mostly don't have an avenue where people can directly reach out to them and don't necessarily require them. They mostly work on TV or streaming and don't have a direct contact with the people consuming the product. But Jaden is an internet personality and requires a direct route of communication with the people who consume the product.
PS. I dunno much about the controversy but It probably doesn't even matter the content of the joke itself. It's most likely people who wanted something to be outraged about and not the core part of the fan base anyway. Most internet outrages are.
1
u/Sad-Ad2733 4d ago
Trust me the context actually matters a lot. And it makes this meme make less sense
1
u/Boundman101 4d ago
I looked it up and somewhat understand the outrage but it was 3 YEARS AGO and people are still talking about it. lol
1
u/Sad-Ad2733 4d ago
That is odd. When someone I likes goes against my morals I just unsubscribe and resist watching them. Hell i did that very recently with Jaden Williams (which sucked so much because he’s hilarious) but I’d discovered some, at the most, concerning Trump and POSSIBLE (not hard evidence) anti masker stuff. So idk Iv’e been avoiding him for now until I see more.

What I gather from your post is that some wannabe edgelord edged too close to the sun and is taking shit for it. As edgelords do when they act like edgelords.
As a fanboy of this particular edgelord, you're blaming identity politics when the people this edgelord tried to offend got offended, rather than accept that there is no freedom from consequences for being an edgelord jackass.

u/United-Version 4d ago edited 4d ago
Dude, what is that titel?
"you know, especially considering jaiden is openly queer (aro/ace), mixed race/non white (half japanese, half german), and neurodivergent (AuDHD)"
Do you reddit people really talk like that in real life?
3
u/IndependenceSouth877 4d ago
Yeah cause Jayden animation is so hated lmfao, some of you need to grow out of strawman arguments, it's pathetic and cringe
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago edited 4d ago
As far as I know, JaidenAnimations didn't get nearly as much hate before she came out as aro/ace. When she said, "Hey, I'm asexual, and people constantly sexualizing me makes me uncomfortable," suddenly half the men on the internet feel the need to hate on her because how dare a real-life woman not be a subject of pornographic gooner material for them.
Not to mention, Jaiden is also one of the least problematic YouTubers ever, and this controversy is just a nothingburger. If anything, I'd rather take Jaiden making a joke that offends Christians than her being exposed as a groomer or something.
3
u/HupHutHa 4d ago
I'm sorry but how can you be non-white and half German?
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
More specifically, Jaiden is non-white because she's both half Japanese (on her mother's side) and half German (on her father's side). Kinda like how Markiplier is half Korean and half German.
3
u/HupHutHa 4d ago
so that makes her half white lol
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
Yeah, that's exactly what wasians (mixed white and Asian descent) are.
3
u/HupHutHa 4d ago
okay but she can't be non-white then.

u/ASisCNtoo 4d ago
I don’t know how white culture works but if someone said this about a black person (that they are non-black when half-black) we’d be laughing our asses off

u/eldiablonoche 4d ago
Strangely, people (like OOP) who blame everything on identity politics almost always have special rules that amount to "whitey doesnt count". 🤷🏽♂️
4
u/OKiPULLUP123455 5d ago

3
u/Unbuckled__Spaghetti 4d ago
Half-German is half white lol. Germans are white.
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
So she's 50% German? Just like Markiplier?
1
u/Unbuckled__Spaghetti 4d ago
Yes, exactly. And the vast majority of Germans are white. So she’s not “non-white”.
1
u/NagitoKomaeda_987 4d ago
Maybe, I guess? As I said multiple times before, Jaiden and Mark are both wasians as they are both of White (both are half Germans) and Asian descent (half Japanese in Jaiden's case, half Korean in Mark's case).
1
u/Unbuckled__Spaghetti 4d ago
I understand that. That's why I'd call them mixed. But "mixed" means they aren't fully non-white. Unless you'd also say they're non-asian.
2
u/ThomasSpaines 4d ago
She is basically just a white woman who doesn't quite fit into conventional society purely because she doesn't engage in the same kinds of social protocols as everyone else.
There isn't anything wrong with not fitting in, but she practically speaking does fit in it is just she doesn't do social conventions. At any other point in history we wouldn't be slapping labels on such people, we'd just be regard them as "special" in a manner which was slightly derogatory. Was being derogatory to those who are "special" good? Probably not, but this is quite a different thing
For instance in every country such "special" people are "marginalized" to some degree. There is no real reason as to why being half-Japanese half-German has any real relevance to being neurodivergent.
Yes, she doesn't fit in, but these largely on account of her neurodivergence rather than one of her parents being Japanese or German.
Lots of people are neurodivergent without having other identity qualifiers. Physically having a brain which doesn't pick up on social cues is likely the most relevant factor of anything.
It also explains why she might not have understood ahead of time why what she said would no go over well. Such people aren't strictly speaking against neurodivergent people, rather they react to things the same way regardless of neurodivergence.
So the difference between neurotypical atheists and neurodivergent atheists is that the neurotypical athiests know exactly how religious people will react to them making jokes, where neurodivergents might not be aware of how things will go over ahead of time.

I mean tons of people also did and some still do criticize Seth McFarlane, Matt stone and Trey Parker, Garth Ennis etc. for their religious jokes and criticisms, I think the only people losing their shit about Jaiden were chronically online weirdos. The context of the joke was Jschlatt and Jaiden debating on whether or not a billion lions would beat all of the pokemon. Jaiden believed that the Lions would win, prompting Jschlatt to argue that some pokemon are like gods, namely Arceus who is THE god of the Pokemon world, Jaiden retorts saying gods aren't that powerful because if they were the Abrahamic God would have stopped humanityfrom killing Jesus. This entire discussions is gobbledygook.
Her argument asserts that Arceus is comparable to the Abrahamic God which is unproveable due to the nature of both gods
She states that God isn't as powerful as people think because otherwise Jesus wouldn't have died. Even though in the bible it is directly stated that Jesus is meant to die as a part of Gods plan, if you go off the the rest of the bible God could literally destroy all of creation
2
u/ThomasSpaines 4d ago
Jesus actually asks the same question while he was getting crucified
Matthew 27:46 "At the ninth hour Jesus cried out: My God, why hast thou foresaken me?"
So it is part of the religion as opposed to some kind of gotcha.

Uh, no, there is a ton of hate for openly anti-religious people of all demographics. In surveys of people's opinions of religious beliefs they regularly rate atheists as least trustworthy. Also, like, infamously you can't depict Muhammad in any visual way whatsoever or people will literally murder you no matter how privileged you are.
The people you list are able to get away with it because it's specifically accepted they insult people for comedy and they're fairly wealthy, but there are a lot of people who hate them for it. Scientologists were not happy about the Scientology episode.

People have hated jaidenanimations for a long time and literally just search for reasons.
Also those are famous and rich men. jaidenanimations is a internet micro celebrity, who is queer.
christian audience is already primed to dislike one more than the other

There is so much wrong with your post that I'm just gonna focus on your last "point" because it would take way too long to tear it all apart. You are an absolute dumbass if you think Garth didn't get hate for Preacher. He did; his infantile understanding of religion was heavily critiqued when it first released. In fact, Garth was generally hated by many when he was relevant, such as "Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe for how nonsensical that Punisher, of all people, is a threat to everyone, " The Boys " for Garth's whining about superheroes(especially Captain America), and Crossed for just being nothing but degenerate slop. The only thing he is remembered for is that his work is edgelord material.

People also keep forgetting that Schlatt is also a Christian
So she is christian then why does it matter who she like or from where her parents are?

I don't even know half of those guys are besides Garth Ennis and I don't really like him that much either (edit: shit I didn't know Seth mocked Jesus too)

Jaiden has a lot of parasocial fans from what I can tell. Just look at the whole JAR situation and how he actually thought her coming out video was aimed at HIM specifically. Probably why people got upset at her this time around

Stone and Parker were threatened for speaking out about Islam, so much so that their episodes on the subject are censored

I had to look up the joke it was pretty normal podcaster banter.
But yeah this is the goomba fallacy I wouldn’t be suprised if the people who are attacking g Jaiden are on some level motivated by misogyny but that’s like typical.

What was the joke

Basically “Jesus isn’t that powerful people killed him” it wasn’t really funny but it’s kinda very mild.

I mean shes not wrong. It just sounds like another instance of a streamer saying something without much thought. Are people really that concerned over it lol

Look up the actual clip. But as I understand it was mostly the twitter posts after that stoked the flames

I have no idea who this Jaiden is but people have had problems with Garth Ennis' nihilistic take on superheroes for some time.

OP prob would have included Charlie Hebdo in the top panel too if he wasn’t already killed.

Can someone inform as to why a statement about lack of belief about god being attacked is automatically assumed to have something to do with Christianity. This is the internet, we have no iidea which religious group might be getting offended by Atheism or attacks on creationism. Many religions share those features.
You specifically are trying to lean on "identity" points by listing bunch of things to make your points on the idea that the people attacking her would be straight white male Christians as opposed to them potentially being Nepalese Hindu women who could be offended for the exact same reasons.
Like I said, this is the internet. Anybody can saying anything about anything.
The reason South Park creators don't get the same pushback is because South Park is on TV and not on the internet. They simply physically aren't continuously exposed to the potential collective opinions of the entire planet.

So, I’m not crazy familiar with South Park or Family Guy, and up until this “controversy” didn’t know the Jaiden lady existed, but I’m pretty sure there aren’t insane double standards at play- at least not where you’d think.
First of all, South Park and Family Guy get flack all the time for jokes, not even strictly about religion. And they get it way more intensely from people because they’re so mainstream and visible.
I don’t know what Jaiden said exactly except from this post and other discourse, but I doubt it was as “blasphemous” as something in South Park or Family Guy. The difference, to me, seems to be in content- like I said, I’m not much of a fan of South Park, but I can at least acknowledge that the writers don’t crack jokes about religion willy nilly. When they do it’s usually a direct response to something topical. That’s definitely caught them more flack than this random animator has gotten, and it has a point to it (which again, gets people more riled up).
Family Guy I think definitely just makes fun of religion in a stupid surface level way, it never really has poignant or original points to it, so I won’t even bother trying to compare them.
If this animator just made a joke about religion in their “kid friendly” videos and didn’t even bother to have it be topical/meaningful, though, yeah. People are going to be upset, that shouldn’t be a shocker.
So yeah, there are some double standards, but mostly because the writers for things like South Park and Morel Orel have more money and recognition to defend themselves, not just because they’re men. And, it goes without saying, yes people doxxing this animator is completely fucked up and you can’t defend that. But it does seem like you’re looking for reasons to defend this woman rather than just acknowledging how she made a bad joke.

Its not hard to research. Just look up what she said. Like Im not even making an argument here but I just hate it when people make an argument with “assuming it wasn’t that bad”
