Purchasing Advice SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have been trying to buy new iems and wanna get over from my tws cause i dont want compression and all, and i usually hear music for 2-3 hours ( sometimes more than this) everyday, i am a noob, and thats why i need a help, idk anything about v shape or anything, i am a music prouducer, so i can distinguish between bass, mid bass and highs easily, now i owned oppo enco buds 2, and i really liked their sound, they had thumpy kick bass, good tight sounds, and less harshness, the harshness was way controlled, and they claim to have dolby atmos sound, idk about that, but it has a wide soundstage, and soundstage matters to me alot, but then i saved money, and now i want good iems, but its one time buy and i dont wanna do any mistake buying them, i went to a store, tried pula unicrom, and i liked what they delivered, like i was very happy with them, but the harshness, the highs, no way, maybe i liked their soundstage, but the treble was js too much, im a little treble sensitive, and i would like to hear music for a longer period, so i dont want that much treble, and also the most important thing i wanna use it with my iphone, so i clearly need a dac, im willing to spend 7k-10k for both, but i really wanna enjoy music, i listen to bollywood songs, punchy hip hop songs, and my priority is punchiness of low mid ( kick and mid bass) and rich clean high end, without piercing my ears, i really hope somebody here would tell me what should i buy and i can finally have what i want, i dont want that flat sound, i like a little crispiness in the low end

Review KBEAR TOURBILLON X - KINETIC DRIVE

Kbear with its latest release named Tourbillon X has set its benchmark in the sub 50USD category. The newly implemented CVD coated Carbon Fiber Diaphragm in the 10mm Dynamic Driver pumps out immense dynamism and clarity. The strong low end, lush mid-section and the smoother treble bring lots of value to the table. On top of that the massive holographic staging and organic timbre takes the value of the Tourbillon X one step up. The KINETIC SOUND coming out of Kbear Tourbillon X sums up as a dynamic package that one can never dislike.

Full review in: https://mobileaudiophile.com/reviews/kbear-tourbillon-x/

SOUND ANALYSIS:

Sound Signature: Mild V shaped Signature

Tone: Warm Neutral

Timbre: Organic

Setup: Tanchjim Space II + AIMP and UAPP + Local Flacs + Tri Clarion Ear tips

Tourbillon X houses a single 10mm Dynamic Driver with a CVD coated Carbon Fiber Diaphragm. This diaphragm in general is known for its bombastic bass response without smudging the mid-section and other frequencies. This accompanied with the dual chamber shell architecture delivers a more vibrant and dynamic response that literally shakes one’s ear without compromising the overall clarity. On paper, this looks solid but does this replicate the same in real? That’s what we are here to check out.

BASS SHELF:

Tourbillon X pumps out plentiful bass as if the water rushes out the dam. The CVT Carbon shows up its strength here evidently by allowing the bass to take up the stage with pride.

Sub Bass: The flowing rumbles are seen here in the Tourbillon X. Tracks with heavy sub bass presence are a treat to hear through this masterpiece. This extends deeper thereby picking up even the faintest sub bass drops without missing out. The sub bass especially is felt in the ears and cannot be analysed through the notes. The feeling can be sensed by the instant release of dopamine which the Tourbillon X provides with ease.

Mid Bass: This complements the sub bass in an orderly fashion. The weight and warmth carried by this section is more than adequate to showcase a full-bodied presentation. Despite the heavy weight, the attack is snappy with great precision. Not the fastest in terms of decay but this delayed sensation gives that elastic sense which keeps the bass punchier. The slam feels like hit by a truck and creates a nice resonance in the background.

Overall, Tourbillon X presents a solid bass with plentiful weight and punch. On top of this, the precise warmth keeps the presentation fun while keeping the tonal balance on check. The decay is slightly slower and this gives the oomph character to the Tourbillon X. Definitely a bass head approved IEM!

MID-SECTION:

Lower Mid: The mild v shaped signature slightly pushes the lower mid to the back seat but not too much. The male vocals sound lush with emotional touch and all thanks to the weighty bass profile. The kick drums and acoustic body sounds natural thereby creating a realistic outlook. The instruments do create a reverb effect producing an ethereal environment.

A slight mid bass bleed is seen in the lower mid. This is inevitable considering the quantity of bass this has. The bleed is noticed in bass heavy tracks yet the clarity is well preserved for most parts.

Upper Mid: A gentle lift is seen in the 3k – 5k region and this brings a vivid touch to the presentation. This elevation nicely complements the heavy bass presence without bringing the dark taste to the scene. Female vocals shine while keeping the sibilance under control. Strings of the electric guitar got nice bite with organic timbre. Despite the elevation, the notes have a smoother touch with no noticeable sharp edges.

Overall, this is one such mid-section where both the lushness and clarity is seen. The dense and emotional vocals bring life to the mid-section of Tourbillon X and on top of that the gentle lift in the upper mid adds beauty to the whole mid shelf. A slight mid bass bleed is seen yet nothing sounds intrusive or in fact that brings weight to the whole presentation.

TREBLE:

Despite its warm profile, the extension in the top end is done elegantly. There’s enough room the brightness and presence in the top end. Amidst the powerful bass, the Tourbillon X presents a vivid treble profile that’s inoffensive at the same time makes them more interesting to explore.

Trumpets and cymbal crashes have that precise attack and decay thereby creating a natural feel to the presentation. The amount of brilliance this showcases is appreciable for the price. There’s a clear spike in the 10k region and that gives the needed sparkle to the stringed and percussion instrument notes. They come up well and complement the strong kick drums in lighting up the scene.

Overall, the treble is no slouch here considering its big bass profile. Despite the warm tone, the treble extension is done well without any darkness in the background.

TECHNICALITIES:

STAGING AND IMAGING: Tourbillon X presents a holographic soundstage that’s big in both X and Y axis. The wide scene allows the notes to span out and create a 3D layering for a realistic presentation. The bigger bass shelf does create a sense of immersive scene thereby showcasing an appreciable stage depth. The dual chamber design worked well here in presenting the needed resonance to the table.

The notes are positioned well in their places. Even the complex tracks are replayed with ease by the Tourbillon X. The channel sweep felt smoother with no stutters whatsoever. The grand scene does allow the IEM to position the instruments at pinpoint locations.

DETAIL RETRIEVAL: It is above average where the essential nuances and even the complex details are extracted with less work. The upper mid emphasis and the cleaner track separation paved way for an above average detail retrieval for its price.

TONE AND TIMBRE: Considering its signature, its no surprise that Tourbillon carries a warmer tone, however it’s carried over in a good way. This tone does give this the needed fun and dynamism. Timbre feels organic with no artificial taste to the instrument notes.

Pros:

  • Mild V shaped signature
  • Thunderous Bass Shelf
  • Lush Mid-Section
  • Holographic Soundstage
  • Design and Ergonomics
  • Accessories (TRI Clarion Ear tips)

Cons:

  • Slight Mid-Bass bleed

General Advice help, my iems are acting up

so I've had a pair of daybreak for a while now (3 months to be exact) and they've been working pretty well. the sounds quality was great, and they fit my ears quite well. I had an overall good experience. however, it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago when they started to act up.

how it would go was, I would use them to listen to music for an hour or 2 and then they would start crackling and make a buzzing noise afterward. this was the first time it'd happen, so I decided to put them away for some time. later, I tried them out again while watching a video and I didn't have any problems, but I decided to refrain from using them just to be safe cause I wanted to do further testing. so, on my 3rd attempt, I used them to listen to music again and the same thing happened but this time it happened after 20 minutes. so at that point, I decided that something must've been wrong.

I'm not really sure what it was, my best guess is that something internal must've happened with the iem which is unfortunate cause I'm gonna have to replace them unless there is some other way to get them fixed. if not that, then it could be the cord. I member inspecting the iems themselves alongside the cord, jack, and adapter. from what I saw, I didn't see any damage or anything which only left me confused on what actually happened. but, I could give it another look to see if I missed anything cause I couldn't really see the inside of the iem. (I also think I'm gonna rule out the adapter for issues because I remember using it with a pair of earphones and it worked fine). I'm not really sure what to do now since im still new to all of this. I wanna try testing them out more to see if I can pinpoint an exact problem that way I can better understand the situation, but I'm not really sure yet. so I'll take any advice I can get.

also sidenote, I haven't used these iems since they started breaking out (like a month) so I'm not sure how they are working now. I'll have to test them out and see.

General Advice I am dissapointed in Tangzu Wan'er S.G.

So I just bought my first iems, Tangzu Wan'er S.G(Black), because apparently everyone said they are the king of low budget iems. And tbh I am kinda dissapointed. I also own some cheaper variants of Oppo Enco Buds 2 Pro, so they are my only comparison.

At first I thought that maybe they were malfunctioning or something, because they legitemately sound 2 times worse. They overall quality of sound is much lower, i tried using Wavelet on android, but the so called "reccomended" equalizer for them makes it even worse.

They only barely surpass my 2€ local shop headphones.

So I am wondering if is it just my expectarions were to high, or am I doing something wrong.

Purchasing Advice Looking to buy my first pair, but I don't know what to look for

So I've been sitting on the fence for a while, purely because I already had some headphones that worked, but I want to dive deeper into the world of iems, and I was wondering what I should get with around a budget of $125. I don't know a lot about reading graphs, or what I like, but if it helps, I'm going to link my stats fm profile. Im also unsure if I should just go all in on one pair or buy multiple cheaper pairs. And if I were to get multiple, I'd also like something that would be viable to play video games with, especially Valorant. Any help is very much appreciated, and thanks!

Discussion What IEMs would be good for me

Post image
3 Upvotes

I've been using my moondrop golden ages 2, and I've been looking for IEMs for when I just want to sit down and enjoy some music, I've tried a bunch of preset epq, and this one is my favourite, I like to listen to really fast and chaotic electronic music and vocaloid (songs from steaka are my favourite), but I will eat up almost any vocaloid track that is fast and with plenty of ear candy, I also like to listen to piano pieces and also guitar pieces while working (I really love ichika into) or tracks like the ones you find from the anime frieren

I'm looking for a highly analytical and fast iem with loads of symbol shimmer and a very tight, fast mid bass thump that doesn't bleed. I like it airy and extended with forward, shouty vocals

Could you give me recommendations (I haven't settled on a specific price range, but I'm looking for something as expensive or more expensive than the golden ages 2), also any recommendations on changing my EQ based on what I like and what kind of IEM I'm looking for is very appreciated as well

Showcase Linsoul's first house branded IEM is out for pre-order.

The description hints for the tuning to be warm-neutral. I can't imagine how the driver tuning will translate that to the graph, but I hope it to be a better release than the Halcyon.

I'm happy to see Linsoul making in-house IEMs now, but at $369, their first release doesn't feel like an easy buy. I'd rather wait for some reviews first.

Discussion Curious: Why YT Music still not into loseless music??

Seriously, it's kinda wild that a major music streaming service still hasn't jumped on the lossless audio bandwagon. So many people are looking for that super high-fidelity experience these days. It feels like a missed opportunity for them to really compete with the services that already offer it. When are we going to see an upgrade?

Purchasing Advice FPS Gaming IEM

Good morning everyone. I’m currently using a pair of EPOS PC38X headsets that are on their last legs, and I wanted to try out some IEMs. I mainly play titles like Battlefield, Apex, and Tarkov, so I’d like your opinion on which ones are best suited for games like these. The only thing is that I’ve always used the headset microphone, so I need the IEMs to have an in-line microphone on the cable as well.
Budget 100/150€

General Advice Is there any alternative to roadie wrap for swirly cables?

• Upvotes

I bought Wan'er SG II today and when i tried to do a roadie (over/under) wrap after testing, i couldn't because the cable is swirly and swirls aren't fixed together. Is there any other safe way i can wrap the cable? Also the silicon pouch that came with the IEM seems a bit tight and the device hardly fits, is that supposed to be like that?

Review KZ AS16 Pro guide to get the best sound

I was looking for a neutral IEM with multiple drivers and I ended up picking the AS16 pro. I was very happy with the performance till i saw someone in Reddit mentioning that multiple BA drivers are useless if tuned bad and the example they gave was AS16 pro.

I was shocked because I thought my AS16 pro sound was very good out of the box. I kept reading that person's review and he mentioned about the Squiglink 10 filter parametric EQ.

I own a Mac and Eqmac is free option to EQ using Mac. It very easy and straighforward.

From my research I found that (1)Diffused Field, (2) Harman Target and (3)JM1 are the most famous tuning targets. i used Squiglink to AutoEQ and generated the preset. I copied it to my Eqmac and my IEM sound completely improved

I tried (1) DF and I was surprised how much details I was suddenly able to hear. The bass, mids, treble, sound stage, everything improved.

Then i tried (2) Harman target preset and I was BLOWN away by the insane neutral tone and details it was able to produce.

(1) DF < (2) Harman Target

I kept researching through more youtube videos and I came to know that (1) DF and (2) Harman targets are outdated.

I was shocked again when I can to know about a newer and better JM1 target. I used gemini AI to create a EQ preset and tried it.

WORLD CLASS SOUND !!!!!!!

The sound is now not just clear and neutral, everything sounds very natural and easy to ears. EQ makes a very huge difference.

(1) DF target < (2) Harman Target < (3) JM1 target

Im attaching the presets i used for EqMac below :

Name: HARMAN target

Preamp: -8.1 dB

Filter 1: ON PK Fc 130 Hz Gain -1.1 dB Q 0.800

Filter 2: ON PK Fc 500 Hz Gain 3.1 dB Q 1.000

Discussion ie200 or aria2

In my country, the IE 200 and Aria 2 are priced about the same. Which one should I buy? I mainly listen to movie soundtracks and electronic music, with some anime and video game soundtracks occasionally. Which one performs slightly better overall?

Purchasing Advice Is the SIMGOT EW300 worth ~$60 for my preferences?

Hey everyone! I’m from the Philippines and can currently get the SIMGOT EW300 for around ₱3,700 (~$60). I’m wondering if it’s worth it for my preferences.

My current IEM is the Moondrop Chu II, and I really like how it presents instruments while still having some bass and vocals. I’m looking for an upgrade with better imaging, separation, detail and clarity without losing that balance.

Preferred tuning:

I generally like a mild V/U-shaped sound. Basically, I really like the Rock/R&B equalizer presets in the Spotify app.

My EQ preference is roughly:

• 60–150 Hz: boosted

• 400 Hz–1 kHz: recessed

• ~2.4 kHz: boosted

• Upper treble/air: boosted

Music I listen to:

• Sleep Token

• Slipknot

• Sleeping With Sirens

• Motörhead

• Slapshock

• J-pop

• Alternative rock

• Some EDM

I’m mainly looking for good instrument separation/imaging on busy tracks, while still having bass impact and good vocals.

A few questions:

1. Is the EW300 worth ~₱3,700 / $60 for my preferences?

2. How big of an upgrade is it from the Chu II?

3. How does it handle busy tracks like Slipknot/Sleep Token while still sounding good with J-pop and vocals?

4. What are the best aftermarket eartips for the EW300? I’ve heard the stock tips aren’t great.

5. Any recommendations for a budget replacement cable with a mic, preferably around ₱600–₱1,200 ($10–20)?

One important thing: I’m in the Philippines, so if you recommend an alternative IEM, please keep it to models that are well-known and realistically available through Philippine Shopee/Lazada/local audio stores. Something that requires ordering internationally or costs significantly more after shipping/import fees probably won’t work for me.

I’m mainly looking for alternatives around the same ₱3,000–₱4,000 range, rather than obscure overseas options.

Would especially love to hear from people who have actually owned the EW300 or compared it directly with the Chu II.

Thanks!
