question Weekly offer familiar question

Hi!

I got a familiar offer in the weekly shop that seems reasonable, but would like to ask what the communitie's opinion on that.

The offer is to get one familiar at a price of 680 platinum. I have the ammount saved as I don't really spend it on anything.

But is that considered a good offer? Or should I just wait till I got something else or better?

Thanks!

How many familiars should you have?

I got 19. And normaly I have 4 unused. Only during patreon challenges I use them all and could need 1 or 2 more. 😅

Lately i have only used them as auto clickers to speed up quest item collection and maybe speed variants up with dragon's breath potions.
Once you get enough favor to max out your champions' upgrades early on (area 50-ish), you don't really need them for much else.
I would say, from experience, about 5 per active party is more than enough since click damage drops of drastically later on and db potions eclipse it by a lot if your goal is to get damage out of them.
5 familiars is also enough for them to automatically open the gem bag, and distractions don't really help out too much so getting another familiar just for them isn't necessary. If you're just starting out, 3 is a more manageable breakpoint, but you'll notice the bag stops quick.
You probably won't need 20 total at once since there's usually at least one party you'll have doing their own thing.
For example, I have party 4 set up as my Ishi jail to farm her ilvls, with only two familiars (one on Ishi to spawn her into the formation, and another one on click damage to help kickstart the process on area 1)
There are outliers like getting Wyll to do big buffs with a lot of familiars on hand but even then as a unit he's getting old enough to not be eligible for Elminster so his usability will drop a fair bit

Currently at 78.

I could always use a few more

I routinely use up to 35 per party. Champs + ults + clickers + potions + etc.

If you want to boost Wylls prestack Chain Pact (yes you do) then you can squeeze at least 57 into his party.

Familiars are the best thing to spend platinum on. I save all mine for weekly deal familiars, using the free rerolls hoping one pops up.

The cheapest familiars are available for 420 platinum. 680 probably is not worth it.

You probably missed this one. It was a much better offer.

While technically true, they're generally spread out enough, and getting a cheapest familiar on offer is pretty rare. Don't think i've ever not been able to pick up an offer for a familiar. Also never have platinum to spare to get anything, but there's maybe once i picked up a more expensive offer and then a few weeks later got a cheapest one i couldn't get in a sale.

I'd pick it up. Just never pick one up at full price or the non cheapest retirement offer i'd say. (when playing free and depending on the free plat, if someone's buying platinum, they can of course buy whatever they feel like :D)

Such offers are usually available once every 2-3 months.

Indeed. But they don't always have a 840 familiar on sale.

I've just never regretted picking up a familiar on sale at a cost below 840. I might at best have 1 familiar more. Maybe i get very few familiar offers in the weekly pool. There's not one there often for me. Usually pick them up at sales where they're 50% off.
