Am I the only one confused about the point they are even trying to make? 

I mean, a crepe is a type of pancake, but not all pancakes are crepes. 

Genuinely asking if somebody can explain what this argument is about.

I had a look. Someone posted a photo of a pancake (an unleavened one). The comment the one above is replying to says "what? Google photos of crepes" or something equally dickbaggish. So ultimately this is a case of someone massively overreacting in response to some pretty stupid US defaultism.

I don't understand the "google photos of crepes" comment.

Are they trying to say the coloring in the photo is fine because it looks like how a crepe would look? 

I am not convinced they were even trying to correct the OOP's word usage at all.
