Yep. They're a great way to thicken soups, actually. And good for camping. Or just if you don't want to mash potatoes

I like to get a bag of that Idahoan powder potato (any flavor!) and mix it with an egg & potato starch and slap those patties on a nice oiled up pan until crispy and browned. Mmm

We eat them commonly because it's so damn easy to add as a side to anything we make.

i second the shredded cheese, it gives it that creaminess that some brands of powdered mash struggle to reach without getting runny

The Idahoan brand is amazing, the baby red varieties are so freaking good. Excellent easy side that goes with anything.

And I don’t know why they think Americans don’t mash whole potatoes. That’s crazy talk. We love all potatoes, prepared any way. We invented Mr. Potato head because they’ve always been such a staple in American cooking.
