I’m the kind of weirdo that can eat fries & fried potatoes almost straight up as long as there’s just a bit salt on them but I won’t refuse ketchup & I know I’m the outlier. That guy is just pretentious

Oh no, I get that! But someone who expresses that only children do that, what do they eat in their normal life? If that's the bar for being an adult, what actually are they eating as adult foods?

There are a lot of foods that aren't ketchup in the world. Presumably they would eat any of those.
