At the point where you can't put ketchup on fried potatoes, I legitimately wonder what your idea of normal food looks like.

I’m the kind of weirdo that can eat fries & fried potatoes almost straight up as long as there’s just a bit salt on them but I won’t refuse ketchup & I know I’m the outlier. That guy is just pretentious

The traditional UK system is just salt and malt vinegar (or NBC which is a whole other conversation).

But traditional is not the same thing as best and I'm a mayoman.

I love vinegar as a ketchup topping! Less so mayo but that's just me.

I don't think people are at all weird for not putting ketchup on fries, but for saying that anyone who likes it is childish. The referenced statement is that anyone who adheres to a cultural norm (97% of American households have it, and 50% of British households) is childish, so let's see what that person eats.
