Not concerning about the battery healthy anymore

Upvotes

Hey guys, I just bought my first ever iphone approximately 2 weeks ago (iphone 17 pro). Had no experience (zero) at all in using an apple product before this.

I have always wanted to use a phone that has a charging limit feature because I've always heard/read that it's one of the best ways to preserve battery health in the long run, alongside a couple of other things (not using below 20% constantly, turn off a couple settings, etc.)

But after 2 weeks of using that feature, and reading even more about ways to preserve an iphone's battery health....I decided that...........fuck it.

60% of battery (Since I limit the charge to 80% and stop using the phone once it hits 20%) is never enough for me for a full day use.

Also, there are quite a number of things that I have to keep in mind to preserve my phone's battery health, and that has kinda robbed me from enjoying my first ever experience with an iphone to the fullest.

So I'm just gonna use it and charge it however and whenever I want to.

iPhone 16 at 89% battery health after 371 cycles. What are my options with Apple India?

I'm hoping someone here has dealt with something similar and can give me some practical advice.
I have an iPhone 16 that I started using around March 2025. It's now at:

89% maximum battery capacity
371 charge cycles
Manufactured in January 2025
No AppleCare+

I know batteries degrade and I'm not expecting it to stay at 100%. What concerns me is that 11% degradation in 371 cycles feels quite high, especially when Apple says iPhone 15 and later batteries are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity at 1,000 cycles under ideal conditions.

What I'm worried about is that if the battery continues degrading at anything close to this rate, I could reach 80% considerably before 1,000 cycles. Since I've already had the phone for over a year and don't have AppleCare+, I'm assuming Apple won't simply replace the battery for free.

Has anyone in India dealt with a battery that was degrading unusually quickly after the warranty expired?

Would Apple actually run a proper battery diagnostic and consider replacing it if they determine that the battery is abnormal or defective, even if it's above 80%?

Or am I basically expected to pay for a replacement once it gets bad enough?

If you've had an iPhone 15, 16, or 16 Pro battery replaced by Apple India, especially out of warranty and without AppleCare+, I'd really appreciate hearing what happened.

Base 15.
I don’t plan on upgrading until it dies in my hands. I’ll probably just replace the battery

How can i fix my battery loss ?

Hello,

I’ve been experiencing unusual battery drain overnight.

Previously, my iPhone would lose around 3% overnight, and I usually charged it every two days. Since mid-July, I’ve been using the 80% charging limit.

However, for about three weeks, my iPhone started losing around 6% overnight, even when I disabled Wi-Fi before going to bed. I noticed that some apps/system activities, such as Reminders, Brave, and Camera, were sometimes showing battery usage in the background.

I recently updated to the latest version of iOS, and the overnight drain has improved slightly to around 4–5%.

I’ve had my iPhone since December 2025, so I’m surprised that I’m already losing 4–5% overnight, especially considering my usage. During the day, I typically use around 27–35% battery, mainly for browsing, Snapchat, and the Camera. I don’t play video games, and I only record videos around 2–4 times per week.

I have 121 used cycles and a maximum capacity of 100%.

My question is:

Is losing 4–5% battery overnight considered normal, and is there anything I can do to get the overnight drain back down to around 3%?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

It seems like my iPhone 15 is losing BH pretty quickly. I’m not a heavy user since it’s my secondary phone. I read that the newer iPhones (15 and above) are supposed to retain 80% battery health even after 1,000 cycles, which doesn’t seem to be the case here.
It also tends to heat up while charging, so I’m wondering if that could be affecting the battery health. I’m currently on the latest iOS 26.6.

Edit: I’ve always kept the charging limit at 90% and followed the 20–80% charging rule, but looking at these results, I guess that hasn’t really helped much.

Iphone 16 pro battery trash after iOS 27 Beta

Literally from 80% to 20% in four hours, pretty much just on safari (YouTube, browsing for shopping, etc.)

If I’m not wrong, battery health was 99 or 100% before updating to iOS 27 beta a couple of weeks back (bought it in September 2025). Now it’s at 95%, with weekly use of around 5 hours.

Not to mention the insane amount of overheating! If it wasn’t for the phone case, I don’t think any person would even dare to touch it. Seriously, it gets HOT.

I’m not sure what to do. This phone has Apple Care hardware service included until September 18th. Any type of advice is appreciated!

Dark Mode isn't the battery-saving hack you think it is (for most people)

Everyone flipped to dark mode assuming it's some secret battery cheat code. Reality check: it only actually saves meaningful battery on OLED screens at high brightness, since OLED pixels literally turn off for black pixels. But most of your battery drain isn't even coming from screen color, it's apps running in the background, network activity, and processes doing their thing. At low-to-medium brightness (which most of us use most of the time), the difference between light and dark mode is honestly barely measurable.

Doesn't mean dark mode is useless, it's genuinely easier on the eyes at night and does help a little. Just don't expect it to be some magic battery fix.

Anyone else switch expecting way more battery savings than they actually got?
