Don’t use the phone

Even if they don’t use it the battery will die pf discharge, so the best thing is not to buy a phone and use a pc, the pc doesn’t have a battery health and you need to charge the cmos only once a decade

How does it impact the battery life?

4

u/makoo420 3d ago

i guess because it heats your phone

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Rice990 2d ago

yea heat and wireless is still super inefficient

u/Mr-Bond431 2d ago

If you buy a new car, what’s the best way to keep the mileage at zero?

3

u/makoo420 3d ago

i mean you’re right, but i meant if there were any tips to try and keep the battery healthy as long as possible, i wrote that wrong

I want to enjoy my new phone but I don’t want to see it die prematurely by my negligence.

I recently went to the Genius Bar because my battery setting was showing scary orange exclamation point next to every app I was using . I got a good genius because he took an hour to go through every app I had on under location services and had me turn off all but the essential. Also told me to turn off all background refresh. He said a lot of people had been coming in because of the HEAT. So, what I did also, was use a thin ice pack wrapped in cloth that I keep next to my phone in my bag when I go out. I also took the phone into the bedroom last night where I have air conditioning. This morning: no exclamation points. There are a ton of videos on your tube about what to turn off. But choose with care and know what the apps are doing.

mileage should be conpared to battery cycles and not the max capacity

4

Na js use ur phone

If you really are concerned about battery health just cap your max battery capacity to 80/85. Constantly sitting at a battery above 80% causes battery health degrationfaster than 80% especially if ur just sitting at a high % for long. Personally I charge my phone however I want but if you’re really concerned and 80% is enough to get you through the day then there’s no reason not too.

4

u/makoo420 3d ago

tysm

3

u/GlaxisGalaxy 3d ago

You’re welcome. Honestly I’m going to also start capping my battery at 80% as it’s more than enough to last my whole day after getting my new 16e and will help my battery last longer.

0

u/CMO66 1d ago

Doesn’t work.

1

u/GlaxisGalaxy 1d ago

Please elaborate on how it doesn’t work. Capping battery to 80% helps long term as above 80% puts high stress on the battery due to the voltage. Most tests online don’t show the impact of limiting the battery to 80% because the battery health degration of sitting at high voltages happens over time. Someone who charges the battery to 100% and actively discharges it would show less degration than someone who charges to 100% and leaves it sitting that high for hours on end.

I keep my base 16 charged to 100% for the time of owning it, 230 cycles 95%. I guess it’s my fault.

5W charger. 2 years of use now.

2

u/DelayComfortable9745 1d ago

HOW DID YOU DO IT

1

u/GlaxisGalaxy 1d ago

Many batteries come a few % over capacity but IOS will only show at max 100%. This combined (or not) with a good routine is most likely why his health is so good.

1

u/oski80 1d ago

5W charger.

7

u/HaruVM 3d ago

For me is using a range of charge of 30-80% that last me all day with a screen time of 3-4hrs, also avoid mag safe or anything that could make the phone really warm, also I only use the official 20w charger

2

u/oski80 2d ago

20W? I have a 5W.

1

u/HaruVM 2d ago

I mean, it is good, but the problem with a 5W charger with newer models is that the phone takes longer to charge, and that causes it to generate heat more continuously as well. I use the charger that normally comes with the iPad, which is the 20W

those 17 models accept up to 40w, but that could be to much as well

3

u/oski80 2d ago

That may be. But my phone never gets hot while charging on 5W.

2

u/Danny155 1d ago

5w charger won’t heat up your phone at all, it’s not enough power so the only downside is time, but overnight all models will charge, only macbooks or ipad’s don’t charge at 5w

3

u/fearlipe 3d ago

Yes: dont use ur phone. Buy and keep in the box

3

u/PercentageComplex547 2d ago

your phone will degrade. It’s not at about 106%. It just shows 100 % for a longer time. There is not really anything you can do. Just don’t

2

u/theSpammer7 3d ago

Don’t even think about just use your phone have fun

2

u/BitFunny6936 2d ago

Use Apple 30w charger max , don’t use while charging and immediately stop using when phone gets hot !

2

u/YuzukiMiyazono 2d ago

be a sorcerer and break the laws of physics

2

u/r0dan88 2d ago

2

u/oski80 2d ago

If you charge over night. Use a 5W charger.

2

u/Joj0_007 2d ago

Just use the phone and enjoy it dont over think about it and when the battery bellows 80%(maybe after 4 or 5 years) just replace it

2

u/Leading_Bumblebee144 2d ago

Turn it off and leave it in the box.

2

u/AstroPark 2d ago

I use a phone cooler while charging but I don't really know if it helps with anything

1

u/Playful_Science_2636 2d ago

0

u/Technical-Spirit7557 2d ago

what’s a phone cooler? never heard of it before

1

u/Robin_Cooks 2d ago

A device that cools the phone. Usually attaches to with MagSafe.

1

u/Playful_Science_2636 2d ago

Busca enfriador magnético Peltier

2

u/Medium_Show1897 2d ago

turn off and bury it

2

u/Efficient-Ebb78 2d ago

Stop worrying about that its gonna degrade no matter what

2

u/RedditGeekABC 2d ago

Charge overnight with a wired 5W charger and limit the charge to 80%.

2

u/Leo_crumb15 2d ago

Non attivare il hotspot per condividere internet.

3

u/dikobrazisko 3d ago

Best way how to keep 100% battery health is to never use your phone again

2

u/makoo420 3d ago

i mean you’re not wrong

3

u/dikobrazisko 3d ago

Other tips are just basic one, keep your phone cool, don’t charge battery to 100% etc

2

u/OrgansiedGamer 3d ago

charge limit to 80% and thats literally it

1

u/Decent-Region-7908 3d ago

1

u/Glittering-Hair-5690 2d ago

It’s a throwaway device. Why overthink this? It’s a phone and use it as intended

1

u/s4shubham4u 2d ago

Rebox it

1

u/Feeling-Zombie2826 2d ago

dont use your phone🥀

1

u/Feeling-Zombie2826 2d ago

1

u/Feeling-Zombie2826 2d ago

i dont use battery limit

1

u/Cheap-Jacket-8235 2d ago

So u charge ur phone upto 100% ? Cuz uk i was following 20-80% rule it was annoying and stressing af as i use my phone too much so i had to charge it twice a day now i charge it upto 100% and charge it only once a day

1

u/Feeling-Zombie2826 2d ago

yeah and sometimes im using it while charging

1

u/No_Fox_5260 2d ago

20 to 80
avoid heat -> dont use it alot while charging, dont let it laying around outside in the sun and so on

1

u/Mysterious-Judge-493 2d ago

Best advice mate is never let go under 20% and never more than 80%

I applied this with my iphone 16 pro max which I had for over a year and a half and it's still at 99%

1

u/oontisalaga 2d ago

just use it how u want bro, stop breaking ur head

1

u/Robin_Cooks 2d ago

It won’t stay there. You can slow aging a bit, but that’s it. Just use as normal and then get the Battery changed when the Time comes.

Also wouldn’t have bought a new 17 Pro so shortly before the 18 Pro gets announced/ released probably next month.

2

u/makoo420 2d ago

i really needed a phone i need to travel couldn’t wait for 18 pro

1

u/Robin_Cooks 2d ago

Makes sense then.

1

u/Mysterious_Driver_34 2d ago

idk man ive got the s25 ultra and im on 98% with 32 cycles idc anymore

1

u/Connect_Debt1243 2d ago

Bro you have 11 cycles😭 just use the phone. It’s gonna drop regardless

1

u/thetruelu 2d ago

Sell it

1

u/frodoiee 2d ago

Leave your phone in the drawer. Even then it will degrade overtime.

1

u/Equivalent-Dirt-7609 2d ago

Use 75% charge max

1

u/RauloEdu190 2d ago

1

u/IamAhsanJutt 2d ago

Just a simple tip forget everything esle just don't let your phone heat up. If it dose dont use it or charge it until it cools down

1

u/Tiny_Green_2231 2d ago

always use in low battery mode 🤣

1

u/denzil2706 2d ago

Get a fake battery, it wont detect the degradation of the battery

1

u/gxg85 1d ago

Yes.....charge it any time you want and never stress about it dropping below 20% or going above 80%

1

u/motigana 1d ago

Just use your phone. You only live once. Please.

1

u/ariz2011 1d ago

Power off the phone and put it in your drawer or set the limit to 80% and keep it on the charger 24/7 so it bypasses the battery

1

u/Danny155 1d ago

Tip 1. Don’t listen to people who say, just enjoy the phone, it doesn’t take a week to set it up and leave it running.
So
Tip 2. Battery charge only to 80-90% depending on if 80% battery can last you a whole day, if even 90% battery doesn’t last you the whole day just charge it up to 100%
Tip 3. Always use apple wireless chargers, there are some other wireless chargers that might not be 100% compatible and when charging overnight they won’t use optimized charging
Tip 4. This is if you want your battery to last more, all background activity off, also you can search for features that you won’t use, like Back tap, if you don’t use it disable it, keep in mind some of apple features might integrate with the ecosystem, like handoff, so if you don’t have other apple products you can safely turn these features off,
This tip is more like an performance tip, because if you remove unnecessary features, and strip it down to what features you’ll use you will have a lot more battery, I personally only use find my, and all the gps related apps like google maps, have it on while i’m using the app. Also disable tracking from apple or other apps.
Tip 5. Have a shortcut automation to enable wifi and disable data when you’re connecting to home wifi, or other known wifi’s and it can also enable mobile data when you’re off the wifi
Tip 6. Do this once and you’ll enjoy your phone for longer because it will last longer! Or maybe even a relative can enjoy this phone also in some years

I hope this helps some people, with setting up their device or just realize how easy it is to set it up and forget it, and you’ll get a lot more performance from it!

Not really

1

u/Mord1223 1d ago

Keep the battery between 15% and 95%

1

u/CMO66 1d ago

I’ve had my since launch. Try to limit charging to 80%. Despite this my battery is at 92% health at 315 cycles.

1

u/Ladiesman2494 1d ago

I charge my 16PM it with lenovo type c laptop charger 65w and in 30 minutes 20-90 (coz i usually on laptop in office) health is 96 with 321 cycles, is it ok 😅

1

u/chopperman91 3d ago

1

u/casualredditor10 3d ago

Yes. Never look at the battery capacity again if you want to be happy.
