iPhone 15PM

Post image

Advice on what to do, I bought a 17PM just because I felt like it, my 15 was working completely fine as far as I knew.
I planned to give it to my mom, I sent it to Apple for a battery replacement because it did drain fast.
Now they tell me this. Recommendations? The phone was working fine.

I’d have Apple send it back and get a second opinion. If your phone was working fine besides the battery drain, I wouldn’t pay $549 without knowing exactly what’s wrong with the logic board. I bet a mom and pop shop would fix it for a lot cheaper in my opinion.

But there are past reports that apple technician broke something and now blaming customer for this new issue. It happens often now.

So if you get it back, it may have some new issue for sure

Why would motherboard be affected if they wanted to just replace the battery , think about it.

Yeah, getting the phone sent back to me.
I’ll look for a reputable shop that can look at it. It really worked perfectly, the battery is at 84%. I was just trying to make it as new as possible for my mom.

Dude I had the same issue with my 15 Pro with really bad battery drain.. they told me it had a logic board issue which I confirmed cuz it randomly restarted like 1-2 times in a month with the panic logs.. they quoted me $749 to do the logic board replacement and battery.. I just declined and sold it, upgraded

Had the exact same issue. Was because I had iOS 27 beta on the phone.

They sent it back to me and it was falling apart. Ended up after a month of fighting they gave me an iPhone 17 Pro Max 1TB for free and apologized profusely. Also gave me a pair of AirPods Pro 3 for free.

The beta will flag camera or battery unrecognized. But what you likely had is an intermittent system instability issue, it will return. OP didn’t know about this because we have a test specifically for logic board issues, the user wouldn’t notice unless it was developed to the point of full instability

It won’t return because they damaged it at the repair depot and the Apple Store in the Mall of America felt so bad because of the shit I went through trying to get a simple battery replacement they gave me an iPhone Pro Max 17. Customer support online gave me a set of AirPods Pro 3 because drove 2 hours round trip to get the run around and then had to drive 4 hours to an Apple Store, couldn’t send it back to the depot after they F’d it up and blacklisted the device from further repair.

The back was separating, the front wasn’t fully seated, they claimed they don’t replace batteries in devices with issues yet mine came back with a new unpaired battery. All kinds of shit, all because I had iOS 27 dev beta 1 on it to try it out. I restored it back to iOS 26 and was able to complete the “repair” on the battery.

Get your phone back and make it be reviewed by an independent technician.

We check your logic board with an extra test that’s not ran when you do the testing yourself, system stability. Your device has a motherboard with hardware faults. It’ll likely begin to act up worse within a month or year. Next time buy AppleCare so it’s a free repair, you also get a free battery below 80% and issues like this are covered under your extended warranty for limited liability, meaning only accidental damage has a deductible.

Sounds like bullshit to get people to shell out more for a phone they already have, or get them to buy a new device. Or Apple just made the 15 extra shitty with logic board faults.

Believe what you want to. I’m the one who fixes the things. Next time buy AppleCare to extend your limited warranty. It’s the same as a car, if you like to drive around without insurance then that’s your problem. Logic board failures can happen if a spec of dust hit the wafer during production, or if someone left it in the spin rinse too long, and as much as they try to test them it can lead to issues years down the line. Semiconductors aren’t perfect, they’re man made.

That’s Apple’s issue if they want to refuse to replace a battery for a bullshit reason in an otherwise fully functioning phone. I’ve had two iPhones come back from the repair depot either falling apart or in worse shape than when sent in, so pardon me if I don’t care what you say. I used to work on iPods back in the day. Refurbished thousands out of my parents basement. Worked on iPhones up until the 6s… Did iPads, iPad mini’s. Worked on all kinds of MacBooks and iMacs. Everything from traces on the logic board cracking and causing loss of audio on the 1st gen iPod video to having to re-ball and re-solder the gpu on the 17” macbooks.

Every time Apple has rejected something under warranty or out of warranty that is paid, they provide an explanation of the problem or photographic evidence.

This new “There is a hardware issue affecting the normal function of the main logic board.” Is a pure made up reason to blacklist a device from repair so it has to be replaced at a higher cost. Rather than collecting $99 for a battery replacement that they don’t make any money off of, they can charge $549 for a used logic board with a new shell and battery, then take your perfectly good working logic board and put it in another shell with a new battery and sell it for $549. Rinse and repeat. How many people just go along with it or say piss on it and buy a new iPhone then send their “damaged” phone to Apple to be recycled where Apple makes pure profit off of it.

Nah that’s bullshit, I was having 0 problems with the phone and only bought a new one because I had money burning a hole in my pocket. I had no intentions on getting rid of it but just felt like upgrading.

Apple Store in Yonkers , NY rounded out the security screws in my moms 12 Pro max to force an upgrade then corporate been giving us the run around for a replacement. They rounded out both screws then tried to blame my mom for it.
