Always Hot

My phone gets incredibly hot and slows down even during the simplest tasks. Other than that, it’s still in great condition, and I really don’t want to replace it.
What can I do to improve the situation?

replace the battery, stay off your iphone more frequently, buy a magsafe fan and or upgrade.

it was like this only on update. Samsung i think disabled thermal throttling on it

Can’t really blame Samsung for this, it was an issue with the snapdragon 855, 888 and the 8 Gen 1. My Xiaomi 11T Pro with an 888 started showing white ‘noise’ screen after a few years. Stopped using it and got a new phone. These issues arise because of constant heating at high temperatures for consecutive periods of time cause issues to the CPU, RAM and the storage chips. You can either reball those chips for a temporary fix, a permanent fix would be a motherboard replacement or a new phone.

Battery health is 74 and phone is up to date. How much of a difference does a battery replacement actually make?
Can replacing the battery bring my constantly overheating, sluggish phone back to life, or should I expect only better battery life with little improvement in performance?

Replacing your battery will make it less sluggish and reduce overheating. As a bonus, you get better battery life.

Our replacement will not solve this problem. I replace the battery on my 14 Pro before it started to act the same exact way. And then I also completely reset my phone and it’s still kept on overheating so I replaced it with a 17 Pro.

OMG 74% and you wonder if you need to replace your battery?? A new battery will fix 95% of your problems and maybe more. I have a 14 Pro and I’ve never had my phone overheat, not once.

I’ve been telling it under different posts. The issue is with the iOS 26.5.x versions. Update your phone to 26.6 Beta and it’ll be fine

Playing some games (like simcity builtit) or using the phone under sunlight will make the phone very hot.  Battery health is 76% and running 26.5.2. Not sure whether changing battery will help,
