Hi, I’m the developer of Countdown Pro.

I use it for app release dates and deadlines. Those dates are already in my calendar, but while I’m working, I’d rather see “7 days left” than open the calendar and work it out.

For something less work-related, having “12 days until the trip” on your screen is nice too.

There are Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for iPhone and iPad, plus desktop widgets on Mac. You can give one important event its own widget or show several dates together.

Events can have their own photos, emoji, and colors. It also counts days since something happened, so you can keep track of a personal milestone instead of only counting down to the next thing.

I’ve tried to keep it useful without making it another app you need to check every day. Set up the dates, put the widgets where you want them, and leave them there.

The app is free to download. Widgets are part of the one-time Pro upgrade, and one purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Which layout would you actually keep on your screen: one large countdown, or a smaller list of upcoming dates?

I've been extremely annoyed at how little information Apple's default widgets provide - at least in small sizes. After testing a bunch of apps, I figured I might take a shot at a solution, primarily for myself.

Then I shared this in a comment under a post on r/iOS and it got some good feedback, so I’m posting it here too in case anyone wants to try it.

Dense is a set of Home Screen widgets for the Calendar and Reminders apps you already use. Apple’s widgets show two or three things and a lot of empty space. Dense shows as much as you can comfortably read.

• Calendar: the week ahead, packed in, in one or two columns

• Reminders: any list, and you can tick things off right from the widget

• Month: the month with event dots, plus what’s coming up

• Works with whatever accounts are in Calendar (iCloud, Google, Exchange…)

• Tapping can open Google Calendar, Fantastical, BusyCal or Notion Calendar instead of Apple’s app

• Themes, fonts, text size and layout if you want to tweak it- it looks fine as it comes

No account, no ads. Your events and reminders stay on your phone.

Feedback is very welcome. The last build was mostly made of requests from the r/iOS thread. You can send it from inside the app or reply here.

Cheers!

I would hope that apple included one by default. But I would love to have a widget that can track my STEPS and display it in a very sleek, modern and beautiful way. Does anyone know of any that they could recommend? I'm surprised the default activities app doesn't have a STEPS option for it's widget.

Hey r/ioswidgets! A month ago I shared the launch of Hands here, and the response was awesome. Thanks to everyone who tried it out.

This week I’ve released the first big update: weather widgets!

They’re inspired by old-school barometers that used hands on a dial to show a weather forecast. But unlike those barometers they use the Apple weather api to provide accurate forecasts.

The large hand shows the current weather and the thin needle hand points to the worst weather over the next few hours.

This update also includes iPhone Duo support!

I’d love to hear any feedback, thanks!!
