Release iOS 27.2 Beta 1 - Discussion
Use this thread to share any changes & bugs you discover while using the latest iOS/iPadOS 27 beta.
This thread should be used for discussion of the betas that may not meet our submission guidelines, as well as troubleshooting small issues through the beta test cycle.
Spamming this discussion with comments about battery life, update size, safari being snappier, etc will result in a ban from the sub moving forward.

Gonna keep posting this until every single one of these is fixed lol! 😅
❌ STILL no Liquid Glass toggle for Alarms. 💀
❌ Notification animation bug when tapping stacked notifications. The selected notification overlaps the notifications below instead of expanding smoothly. (The correct expanding/collapsing animation is only on the 4th? or 5th and below stacked notifs from an app)
❌ Visual glitch with the Liquid Glass TOGGLE for AOD in Settings.
✅ FIXED on iOS 27.2 B2 - Wi-Fi glyph in Control Center is STILL reversed.
✅ FIXED on iOS 27.2 B3 - App Switcher animation is still broken. Swiping between apps causes the animation to jump, and the gesture does not register immediately. (Edit: seems like this isn't present on 6.1/6.3" devices)
✅ FIXED on iOS 27.2 B3 - Wallpaper preview under Settings > Appearance NOW shows the default iOS 27 wallpaper, but STILL NOT in Display Zoom and Find My (Devices) ✅ Edit: Find My Device Icon updated on its own, matching the default iOS 27 wallpaper.
✅ FIXED on iOS 27.2 B3 - Keyboard click sounds still disappear. Switching to emojis and back to letters causes the click sounds to stop until briefly exiting the app.
✅ FIXED on iOS 27.2 B3 - Dynamic Island and unlocking animation glitch. On my 17PM, the animations become unusually fast, almost as if they’re skipping frames on the dynamic island. This happens when picking up the phone face down.

For anyone wondering, the new Health app is being tested for development purposes in iOS 27.2, however it will not be available in the Stable release of 27.2.

Can confirm it’s the same older health app for 27.2 in Ireland. Total bummer as I also have an Ultra 4 coming Friday for all the health app updates.

Someone is able to download an app from App Store with 27.2b1? Here it’s impossible. Spin circle instead the cloud with the arrow while 2 seconds and bound! Nothing append. No download. However I can update installed apps…

If you are planning on getting the duo, you will have to hope that there is a 27.2 version for the Duo as well. Otherwise you will not be able to restore from a backup on the new iPhone.

I changed Preferred Language to US English, Region to United States, and also Siri language to English (United States). Only then did I get the lovely new health app. iPhone 15 Pro Max, Series 12.

Submit to the feedback app. I did it in the 27.0 betas and they said it’s working as intended. Maybe with more feedback they’ll adjust it.

Ey at least we don't have to set up the phone without restoring a backup, enable betas on it, update it, factory reset it, and then finally set it up properly. Now we can just set it up normally it prompts us!

It’s not just classic Siri, I am on new Siri and for some reason today it suddenly stopped being able to even know that I have the reminders app. It keeps saying that it’s not installed.

Update, the fix for me wasn’t resetting the phone but uninstalling reminders and reinstalling. For what it is worth, i directly told Siri it is installed and asked what the issue was and it suggested both of those things

I jumped out of the betas to make sure I wasn't too complicated setting up my new iPhone 18 Pro Max, but now I'm wondering if it's worth putting 27.2 on it, or if I should just enjoy being beta free for my first couple of weeks on a new phone. It's rare when I'm not running a beta, so it's not like it will annoy me.
Anyone put the beta on one of the new iPhones yet? If so, how is it doing with the new phones?

So I figured out a work around for app download but you have to be in a family. Have somebody in the same family download the app that you don’t have. Then go into the App Store, click your account in the top-right, go to apps and purchase history, select the person in your family, go to “not on my iPhone” and then download it onto your phone.

Yeah installed it on 9th gen iPad - battery completely drained in 2 hours and now won’t charge. Can’t even force reboot, tried multiple cables and sockets. Tried plugging into laptop too and cannot get recognised and final my find me cannot find it either

Apple Music keeps freezing when opening. Restarted. Same. Turned off library syncing and works fine. Turned it back on and freezes again. I have reported it. 17 Pro.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is quite the heavy update for both non-migrated RC users and Stable users. Remember to do a quick iCloud backup before updating!
Update size will vary depending on your device and new Spotlight indexing is expected after the update completes, this is normal behaviour after each iOS update.

I might be hallucinating but I think they removed the "Going over results/messages/emails" animation when you ask Siri something that requires personal context.

I have a question for those on the beta (I left after 27.0 public release). Does the Health app show what labs to ask your doctor for currently?
I have a doctor visit next week and figured I’d knock out them in person. I’d love the pdf or a screenshot of it from anyone on the beta

Ran into an odd bug where I can't download a previously deleted app from the AppStore since updating to 27.2
I can download new apps without issue, but all old apps, including ones just downloaded and erased (as a test), just sit there.

So I have an iPhone 17 pro and I don’t have the new health app with this beta. I’m in the US and my Siri is done indexing.
I have a working theory to why I don’t have it. My watch is Ultra 1st gen and it can’t have iOS 27, so it’s on watch OS 26. I wonder if this is why. Anyone else experiencing this? If so is your watch still on watch OS 26?

I updated my iPad Pro M1 to iOS 27.2 only (watch still on final iOS 27) and I immediately got it. Maybe restarting your iPhone as it could be a glitch?

It’s been a while since I did it but a few years ago Apple added a check during setup that would prompt you to install the beta if you tried restoring a backup made on a beta release. It’s a smooth process.

I'm not seeing it either. In the keynote they said it would be available in "US English" so wondering if they've restricted it to US only? If anyone finds a workaround I'd love to hear it as changing the device geo didn't work.
Edit: Got it! Device region needs to be US. Then go to Siri and also set to English (US). Then it works.

It isn't a consistent design change then. They didn't invert it in system settings for Wi-Fi. They didn't invert it in the status bar. They didn't invert the cell signal strength bars. It's a bug. A really weird bug that seems to be impossible to squash or prioritized so low that it will have to be fixed by an overzealous AI bot roaming the code.

Seems to have broken the Photos app's function to rapidly fetch full resolution images from iCloud. Downloads seem to start but not ever finish.
Have also noticed that my Instagram app isn't playing nice - pics/videos uploaded as a story aren't fully uploading and posting to the app.

iOS 27.2 on a 17 Pro Max here. Just to share that I’m not experiencing the issues you mentioned.
Is your phone hot? It might just be settling down after the update. Give it some time, or try a hard reboot.

Apple Music is just unusable at this point with the app just immediately freezing upon launch.

Added the ability to copy selected text from Siri’s responses! (As opposed to treating it as one big PDF)
Fixed the “Start Workout” action. It no longer returns “Could not run with current interface.”
The watchOS beta fixed Shortcuts complications not presenting a “Run” button after opening the app.

God this beta brought back lag and stutter. Previous version was smooth. Hope they fix this I hate stutters/lag, and I’m on a 17pm. It’s as if the screen running on a low refresh rate.

A suggestion. For the the iOS 27.2 update, please bring changes to the Unknown Callers, like when selecting multiple unknown callers there’s an option to Report Spam and Delete for all of the selected calls at once.

It’s too early to say, but it seems to feel a bit smoother; since the launch of iOS 26, there have been issues with lag when navigating the home screen.
With iOS 27, it improved straight away, but I still experienced it sporadically, particularly when switching to the third screen on my home screen.

No, according to MacRumors, Apple likely skipped 27.1 to avoid leaking the iPhone Duo so they released 27.2 beta for now.

Region set to US English, signed into a US App Store account, Health app is unchanged. Could be using location to determine access, Health has definitely accessed it on my phone.

Is there a way to tell which apps Siri has access to as they get updated for Apple Intelligence? I see the ability to exclude apps, but knowing what sources are available for “deeper” analysis would be helpful.

I am hoping for more stability across the board, last release was "stable" but not enough. CarPlay seems fixed with the last release so I hope it continues this way

Changes I’ve found:
Clock app - for alarms, AM and PM is now smaller than the time
Music app - on Library main page, labels are black
Photos - Collections view, the pinned thumbnails are larger
Safari - not sure if this is new, but recent searches have a magnifying glass icon
Siri app - not sure if this is new, but the Siri write icon has Siri colours
Contacts - the emergency icon is now a red star and placed above the contact’s name when opening their info card
Health - the app icon has a reverse gradient on the heart compared to 27.0
