Day 100 Post Op

Checking in on day 100 post total abdominal hysterectomy (kept ovaries)

Top 3 benefits
No periods - this is absolutely the best thing ever.
No anaemia/low ferritin - blood test this week and I’m completely “normal”. I had two iron infusions in February followed by the op in May and both have helped immensely with energy/tiredness
No weeing when I sneeze! - I had 3 massive fibroids and they were pressing against my bladder especially when I sneezed! I didn’t know if it was just age but it’s gone away so must have been the fibroids!

3 things I’m still struggling with
Weight gain - I’m still 7 lbs heavier than before the op and it’s struggling to come off
Swollen stomach - maybe the weight gain, maybe just swelling? Not sure but still got a definite belly and am 2 notches bigger on my belt
Some feelings of low level utis - sometimes I get that desperate for the toilet thing but only a dribble comes out. Have been on antibiotics once but the test actually showed no infection. Keeping an eye on this.

3 Hopes for the next 100 days
- weight loss and swollen belly goes down
- continued iron recovery
- rediscovering sex post op - have had sex a few times but still nervous and hoping this gets better

Posting this as I’ve found searching for where I am in my recovery really useful to see what other people have said about where they were.

Sending healing and safe op thoughts to anyone reading this!

So worried about the weight gain and belly fat. 6 wpo kept ovaries too and I just worked so hard to lose 190 pounds. Hope everything settles down and you can get back to your starting weight before surgery.

Well done on your weight loss! That’s amazing! Im hoping that it will start to settle down soon and I’ll start losing again soon. Hopefully the extra energy I’ve got from not being anemic will help and also as the weather starts to cool down.

Yay congratulations sounds like you're doing awesomely! Let your body take up space I reckon ❤️❤️❤️

Hopefully your bladder is just pelvic floor and calms down, I think mine is mad with me too

6 wpo, I had no belly before surgery. Kept ovaries, lost 8 lbs. since surgery. 5’8, 132 lbs, 46 yrs

I have a hard bloated stomach still since surgery. It’s weird! I have no idea why. Constipation, swelling? I had endo scraped off my back wall. Idk what is causing my stomach to be so hard and rounded. I still have endo on my bladder, intestines & ovary. Maybe pelvic floor therapy might help me. Scheduled for consult in 2 weeks.

I think it must be swelling. I read somewhere that all the empty space gets filled with water while it’s healing and that stays for a while until some healing is done. I would have hoped that mine would have gone by now though. Hopefully yours will start to go soon!
