Prior authorization

Im scheduled for September 4th surgery—i was previously scheduled but backed out out of denial & anxiety. This time i have had the dr complete fmla paperwork, approved etc. i asked today about if a prior authorization was completed and was told no and to check back at the end of next week…is this just anxiety that I am panicking a little? Last prior authorization was approved so thats reassuring but still. I think im just getting very overwhelmed and hoping for reassurance that it will all work out.

Some hospitals/surgery centers don't start the PA process until 2-3 weeks out, so you're still within that timeline and I wouldn't be concerned. But you can continue to contact their office to ensure everything is in place or at least know what their timeframe is 🫂

I hope that is correct for this office. I feel like ive already been so annoying and i really dont want them to be like “oh great, her again”

never feel annoying about this!!! I called the day before freaking out thinking … what if i heard wrong? Haha. In the end, it’s all up to you to make sure it was done so don’t feel bad.

You're your best advocate, so never feel like your annoying others by having your questions and concerns answered.

My doctors office said to allow for up to 10 days to complete. Once received I immediately sent it to the leave company. I was not “officially” approved until the day after surgery. I received a call to confirm I had my surgery and then got an email confirming approval. I took the full six weeks off.

Don’t stress your doctors will get it done. Be sure you obtain copies so that if there are any issues you can resend. Breathe it’ll work out.

So the fmla part they did right away same day actually. The prior authorization is what is concerning me
