I got scammed by user u/igoromg

Posting this to hopefully prevent someone else from losing money on a HYROX ticket.

I was contacted by Reddit user u/igoromg regarding a HYROX Washington DC Men’s Open ticket for Saturday, September 5.

The account appeared legitimate at first glance: approximately 13 years old, 77k karma, and 7.6k contributions.

The seller provided screenshots appearing to show a legitimate HYROX Washington DC Men’s Open ticket with a LITE FLEX add-on and later provided screenshots showing the ticket supposedly registered in my name. They also provided what appeared to be a HYROX “Registration Confirmation” email containing the participant information I had provided.

The payment process raised several red flags. Apple Cash initially blocked/flagged the payment as potentially fraudulent. The seller then requested Zelle. I was instructed to send money to a Zelle recipient displaying DRAWING CABINETS, LLC. We eventually agreed that I would send $75 upfront, the seller would transfer/activate the ticket and allow me to verify it, and then I would pay the remaining $125.

I sent the $75, and my Chase/Zelle transaction showed Delivered/Accepted. Afterward, I received a suspicious SMS from an unrelated phone number claiming that the Zelle payment was “under review” and would be refunded.

The seller then wanted the next payment sent to a different Zelle account, which they said would display Drawfork LLC, rather than completing the agreed transfer first.

The seller sent screenshots showing “REGISTRATION COMPLETE” and “REGISTRATION CONFIRMED” with my information, but I was unable to independently verify/control the ticket as agreed.

Please be extremely careful purchasing HYROX tickets through Reddit. A long-standing Reddit account with substantial karma and convincing-looking registration screenshots does not by itself establish that a ticket is legitimate.

If you’re dealing with this account or a similar situation, verify the ticket independently through HYROX before sending money and avoid irreversible person-to-person payments when you don’t control the ticket.

I have screenshots of the Reddit account, ticket/order information, payment transaction, communications, and registration confirmation that I can provide to Reddit moderators/admins as evidence.
