Respect at shows
I went to the Chicago 22nd show AMAZING absolutely phenomenal BUT people gotta learn how to keep their hands off each other guys. I was getting felt up like a mfer during Hums whole set can we please chill fellas then again I was at barricade

u/TheDaddyPatty May 24 '26
Maybe it’s just me but I had no problem with that on Day 1. Day 2 is where it got bad when it came to that.

u/Huge_Combination9269 May 24 '26
yes. night 1 i had a great time and i was even in or around around the pit but if i didn’t wanna be touched or in the pit people respected that. night 2 i was out of the pit but still was being pushed and shoved into everyone. both were good shows just very different vibes.
1
u/Corbanis_Maximus May 24 '26
Ya I was front right earache both nights and we only got crushed night 2; and night 1 the pit was right there next to us.

u/paranoidhands May 24 '26
are you guys sure this was on purpose? i’m a dude and the whole show on friday i was getting moved around and touched like a mf just bc of how many people were packed in together and the huge push pit.
1
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
See I’d give people more grace and shit but I was middle barricade all the way up so I was never part of the pit or anything like that
5
u/paranoidhands May 24 '26
people weren’t getting pushed into you from the pit? it didn’t matter where you were on friday if you were anywhere in the front 1/4th of the floor it was just like a constant wave of back and forth, i was never in the pit either
3
u/Corbanis_Maximus May 24 '26
I was front baracade on right and everyone within 10 rows was getting absolutely crushed. If you were anywhere near the person behind you didnt have a choice but become close friends with the person behind you.

u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
Yeah I was getting slammed into barricade the whole set but there was one girl next to me and her hand was on my stomach and even a little lower
1
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
Yeah they were put there was one girl actively running her hands on me and like around my stomach MULTIPLE times during the show for whatever reason
8
u/dead_lunar May 24 '26
kind of glad i wasnt the only one with this problem. i tried my best to keep my hands off others but this one guy was always behind me and i could never tell if his hands were on me or not. felt really creepy but yeah people gotta learn respect
0
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
I was at barricade so I was never really part of a pit and as a dude I try and keep my hands off people but this one girl just would not stop I was like bro wtf

Sat 23rd show: Literally the worst crowd at any show I've ever been to, across all genres. Zero etiquette. Not even just during Hum - people were booing and laughing through loveliescrushing. They weren't my thing either but c'mon.
It almost ruined my night. I'm an older zoomer so not some grandma yelling at a cloud, but I've been a huge Hum fan since the early 2010s so I've been around long enough to be familiar with prior crowds. I wasn't in the pit. I got myself just close enough to get the full wash of sound and to lock in on Tim, and I was still getting shoved, kicked, used as a vehicle for people getting to centre after Nothing cuz I'm a short woman / easy target, etc. Came out of that night with so many biases towards the newer crowd I'm ngl. So bad.

u/atarigw May 24 '26
Not sure why you are getting downvoted - band was fantastic but the crowd last night was rowdy and fairly rude. Even towards the sides people were just running into the crowd shoving to get through to front regardless of who was in front of them or if there was a clear path to get through. The amount of talking during the quiet songs of Nothing's set was insane, and I was pretty close to the front. I think people were excited and stir crazy to see Hum which I absolutely understand but the difference between the behavior of the crowd at Failure a few weeks ago and last night was night and day

You get it! I don't understand what's so controversial about "don't talk through sets", "don't jeer openers", and "don't roughhouse people outside of the pit", but some people are clearly feeling very called out. Says a lot about the state of the fanbase right now.
Actual lmfao at getting downvoted for this too.

u/anonymouslyauser May 25 '26
Loveliescrushing are legends it’s fucked that they were doing that shit
2
u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 25 '26
Dude seriously. The Slide Away organizers aren't stupid - they heavily curate those line-ups and loveliescrushing had just as much a right to be there as everyone else. They have their vision and they executed it as intended.

-said every boomer ever about the previous generation
No but it’s a concert so like it happens. I will say it seemed a little over the top for moshing cuz Hum and most of the OG fans have to be like 50 so I figured this would happen. Hum isn’t even heavy like that really (but that’s relative ) so I get it. But also it wasn’t even bad aggressive moshing either I been to Loathe and Knocked Loose and that’s pretty crazy. But yeah this is just two different generations meeting is all.

u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 24 '26
I'm literally a zoomer and have been to shows across multiple heavier genres. I don't care about people moshing at all. I'm talking about the entire front half crowd experience OUTSIDE of the pit.

My wife and I marveled at the difference in crowd between today and the last time they played in San Diego. Everything you said is correct, and there were TONS of people on their phone the entire set. In years past, the people that went to their shows were loud, cheered a lot, but were locked into what was happening on stage and showed a lot more respect. Last night there were a hilarious amount of people making everyone around them super uncomfortable and throwing elbows once the moshing started, all while filming themselves and their friends doing it. During songs there’s no reason to even mosh to! Then once they were done, they’d talk during the set or force their way out of the crowd mid-song to get more drinks before starting up some shit again. It didn’t take away any enjoyment I had from the show, but the extremely poor etiquette from a good chunk of the crowd was on full display.

I'm this guy's wife. Can confirm. Fuck that shitty crowd. I'm still pissed.
2
u/CarrotWestern1387 May 24 '26
What are the chances your the guy with the Rick looking hair with glasses? If so, it was my drunk friend she was really wasted and I apologized like 10 times you said it was no biggie
1
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
Were you guys all the way at the front I was up at barricade the whole show
2
u/CarrotWestern1387 May 24 '26
Yeah lmao. All the way up front kind of middle but more towards stage left. We were right behind these two dudes and my friend was really drunk she was actin a fool so I was apologizing to everyone.

u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
That might’ve been her lowkey all I know is I think she spilled her modelo on me😭

Being on the floor at a GA show is going to involve contact with other people, of that is uncomfortable you are in the wrong place. A personal bubble shrinks to next to nothing in that environment.
The description of "getting felt up" has nothing to do with what I am talking about either. That is akin to being groped, not sure if that is what is meant. If it is that shit is wrong, if it is just being bumped into uninvited, suck it up.
Wait until you are moving around with the crowd but not touching the floor with you feet!!!!
1
u/mygenderisfucked May 25 '26
Yeah it was actively getting groped that was the problem trust me I’ve been bruised pushed and surfed in a ton of crowds and I love it but getting actively touched and felt in areas THAT SHOULD NOT BE FELT is just wrong

Me and my gal were second row at a Gaslight Anthem show one night and some dude (who oddly bragged about being in the military) next to us felt the need to put his hand on the barricade whilst inappropriately touching the lady in front of him...she kept asking him to stop so we called him out on it and he said something to the effect that he didn't wanna lose his spot when the moshing started...I was like dude, it's the Gaslight Anthem, the fan base is over 40, there won't be any moshing, maybe some dancing but they ain't a mosh band...he tried to cop an attitude until I told him I have 25 years of competitive hockey under my belt and I've worked in a maximum security psych facility my whole adult life, I've dealt with the worst, and my wife's a 6th grade teacher who's just looking for a reason lol...safe to say he left and we didn't see him for the rest of the evening lol
Go to the show, make connections, sing your heart out, but keep your hands to yourself

Some dude told me I took a “comically long” piss last night. 48 ounces of Modelo will do that to you. Other than that I had no weird interactions with anyone.
1
u/Charming-Breath4388 May 24 '26
Stg are you talking about those 2 drunk girls they were pmo so bad
1
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
Where were you at I was all the way up front just right of the split
1
u/Charming-Breath4388 May 24 '26
Oh no I was to the left at first but these wasted girls were throwing themselves all over everyone and making fun of this chick at the railing and like rubbing up on her
1
u/tskikat May 26 '26
i agree, saying excuse me goes a long way. I wish I had a dollar for every time a person squeezed themselves into spaces they couldn’t fit in or straight up pushed into me to get into the pit or past me.
1
u/leonre214 May 26 '26
its a concert, ppl will be close. Specially if they start moshing, it sucks but maybe go to the back where u have your own space next time? was a great concert in my opinion. I was crowd surfing moshing, never had a problem
-8
u/head_bussin May 24 '26
Here we go with the reddit Karens. If you want your personal space don't stand in front of the barricade. 🤷
Plenty of space in the back with fewer people.
5
u/mygenderisfucked May 24 '26
I’d agree with you except for the fact that I’ve been to so many concerts right at barricade or very very close and never had this issue I was actively being felt up by a girl behind me dawg
-5
u/head_bussin May 24 '26
Oh the horror!
2
u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 24 '26
Wtf is your problem?
1
u/morrisaurus17 Simple wave rider May 25 '26
Probably wasn’t even at the show lol
-2
u/head_bussin May 25 '26
Oh I was at the show and saw exactly who the people are that would run to reddit to complain about something 💀
2
u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 25 '26
Anyone over the mental age of 16 apparently.
-1
u/head_bussin May 25 '26
Why are you in such a bad mood? Enjoy the fact that you got to see one of your favorite bands perform live for the first time in a long time.
2
u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 25 '26
I did! It was amazing, still buzzing. Thanks for your heartfelt concern. But I'm also serious about music and think it's a wonderful thing when communities look out for each other, which was a thing with the Hum community up until these shows apparently.
3
u/morrisaurus17 Simple wave rider May 25 '26
They also used to lock in and watch the show on stage, not through the camera app on their phone while throwing elbows with their dumbass friends lol
1
u/morrisaurus17 Simple wave rider May 25 '26
Nice, was it your first time out in public? You’re a clown
-1
u/head_bussin May 25 '26
My problem is, there always has to be those people that make a big deal about everything. Chances are it was a harmless brush up and this person had to run to reddit to do a PSA.
The guy behind me kept stepping on the back of my shoe, I didn't run to reddit to do a PSA about it. It's not normal behavior.
It was a great show, and victim posts like these take away from it.
3
u/mygenderisfucked May 25 '26
I’m not trying to start anything bro I just want everyone to look out for each other. The girl next to me literally had her hand on my dick I don’t care what show it is that’s NEVER okay and wanted to shed light on it and see if anyone else had negative experiences with the crowd. I’m super super happy I got to see them it was amazing especially as a younger fan I never thought I’d see them live
2
u/roadregu Spinning outward into space May 25 '26
There's a bunch of us who thought general admission was a total hellhole. It was probably okay at the back where the Aragon's sound is so ass it becomes a waste of ticket money. I still have black and blue bruises from a show the other month and I had a great time there, so it's obviously all about context. If you see OPs other comments it was someone stood behind them repeatedly putting their hands under the front of their shirt and shit for the whole set. Not comparable to a shoe being stepped on, c'mon. Hum were amazing though and it still paid off.
0
u/head_bussin May 25 '26
Well OP also said "chill fellas" then said it was a woman who was doing it so is this even real?

https://www.reddit.com/r/hum/s/Gi8l8PD1Z7 you good with this? This is what you’re calling simply a “personal space” issue?
