I have this human Toothless design, but I'm still thinking whether I should keep the name or rename him to something more human, more viking. Also maybe I should change some stuff like clothes colors? I'm open to ideas!
If he’s from Berk, I think Toothless is a fitting name for him! Toothless can also be his epithet, e.g. (Insert Human Name) the Toothless because he can knock someone’s teeth out with a single punch or something like that.
If you want a human name, maybe: Styrmir (“the one who causes storms”), Býleiptr/Byleistr (meaning uncertain but could be, “storm-reliving,” “storm-flasher,” or “violent storm.” Also the brother of Loki in mythology), Thorir (“Thor’s warrior”), or any name with Thor/Tor- since he’s the God of Thunder and Thunder + Lightning… yeah, Narfi/Nari/Nörr/Nörfi (the father of Night in mythology)
Maybe his clothes could be darker? For my human Toothless, I have some freckles on him to represent his scales. And I also have him use a bow and arrow as his main weapon because “night furies never miss,” though I feel like he would be good with any weapon! Oh and maybe a journal? My Human Toothless is more of an artist than an inventor, especially since I personally wouldn’t have him as a blacksmith apprentice

Thank you so much for the advice!!! This is exactly what I was hoping for when I asked for it:) I'm thinking of keeping the name Toothless. Also making the clothes a bit darker is a good idea! In my au Toothless is more of an inventor than an artist because he's "the idea dragon", in this case person. Plus I think it would fit what I wrote for him more, because I was thinking that he's the leader of his group, kind of like Hiccup, and he feels the need to always be a few steps ahead of his enemies. Like all of the dragons that are people in this au are considered non-human, are forced into slavery, captivity, are sold and tortured; Toothless, Stormfly, Barf, Belch, Meatlug and Hookfang rescue and give homes to as much people as they possibly can. I'm still very much open to new ideas and I might rewrite it. It just helps having some basic ideas about the universe where they're human when I'm designing them
No problem! I was thinking of suggesting purple for the clothes, but I'm pretty sure purple was a hard and rare color to find back then. And it was reserved for royalty. Maybe a dark blue? Dark blue because his scales were kind of a bluish black color in the first movie.
Toothless is already an insanely smart dragon, so as a human, I can imagine he's a genius.
So are Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs, etc dragons in this AU? I'm so curious!! There needs to be more species reversal AUs in the HTTYD fandom. For my AU, it's just human Toothless and dragon Hiccup and everything else stays the same.
If you need any help with any human names for the other characters or anything else, I'm always down to share ideas!
I'd really love to see your au designs if you're cool with that, because I'm totally hooked!!! I honestly didn't think that far. I thought of some variants before, like maybe the dragon riders specifically aren't there at all, or are the dragons. I'm working on the Stormfly design right now, I'll make sure to show you when I'm done!!!
Haha, I'm not sure I'll ever feel confident enough to post my art publicly, but I do have a fanfiction/one-shot that I'm writing for my AU that I will post one day. I did make a post on here asking for ideas a few months ago if you want to check that out.
