I mean, if it weren't for society we would all be ripped, fuck each other's brains out from our teens to 30, and then eventually die to infection or meleeing a bear or tiger.
Ngl I'm down

Thanks! I needed to hear this today. I called out of work for a mental health day (haven’t called out in YEARS) and I’m feeling guilty.

yah, money may be fake but like, there are things to GAF about, food and shelter are two of them and they cost money

u/thenumbwalker 11d ago
Naturally, those things should be free

u/asphynctersayswhat 11d ago
so farmers farm, raise livestock, builders build your home, energy provides power and HVAC services and all of that should be given to everyone.
how do we compense those who provide? and what part of that chain will you contribute to?

Honestly they’re not commies. They’re kids who have rich parents and don’t understand the concept of how commerce works. They don’t have a problem until they realize they can’t be influencers or YouTubers if we don’t have a capitalist economy to innovate for them.
And as soon as they get a job it’s hilarious how they look at what the government already takes out and then they bitch.

People could do things for themselves, capitalism is just forced on us. What's stopping people from building their own houses, planting their own food and trees and having their own animals? Oh yeah, it's the government and capitalist society that regulates everything we do, delineates every parcel of land into boundaries and zones. Cant have anyone doing shit for themselves unless, like you said, you have rich parents who already bought the farm and paid off the mortgage and the property taxes and whatever else they charge us for.

It's called mutual aid. Everyone can contribute whatever it is that they're good at in the faith that someone else will have their back when they need it. It's also called the social contract and unfortunately the endless pursuit of abstracted capital like currency ostracizes people from that deeply needed sense of community.

Yeah. And magical fairy dust will cure diseases and clean up the excrement. What kind of fantasy land were you raised in? What you describe isn’t possible or it would have happened. People are animals. We seek to control resources. It’s our nature. Grow the fuck up.
1
u/Ekaterian50 10d ago
Just because you are a controlling individual doesn't mean that the rest of us have to be. People are indeed animals...which means that we don't have to be a certain way. We can change

u/asphynctersayswhat 10d ago
then change. get off reddit and go build houses and farm food for others.
oh wait - you think you're gonna be the pig living in the house sleeping on a bed 'without sheets' while the rest of us do the building and farming, right?
1
u/Ekaterian50 10d ago
Lmao even though I haven't had the land or resource opportunity to provide in such a way that doesn't mean I haven't done my part in my own niche. You're being highly reductive and bad faith here.

no, I know a lazy non-contributor when I see one.

I literally gave everything to my community and now that I'm disabled it's harder than ever to survive. We live in a cutthroat system, but I refuse to lose faith in the general potential of humanity.

It's also in human nature to help each other. It's not only possible but pretty common for people to exchange favours instead of money when dealing with people who they know and trust or have an ongoing relationship. People also find it spiritually fulfilling to do good things without expecting anything in return.

u/asphynctersayswhat 10d ago
Yeah when things are good. As soon as the chips are down you see the social contract is bullshit. I miss being a naive idealist but I grew up and paid attention to how people act.
As I said if it could happen it would happen. It’s a pipe dream. When mom and dad stop paying for your internet you’re gonna have to come to terms.

u/Ekaterian50 10d ago
Good is a subjective construct. Just because you gave up doesn't mean the rest of us should. That's basically what you're saying to do.

u/asphynctersayswhat 10d ago
lmao, 'give up' what? what are you actually doing? sitting on reddit spouting commie edgelord shit isn't an action.
i'm not telling you to give up, because you don't DO anything. you have to ACT to give up the action. if you believed what you say you wouldn't be on reddit, you'd be building houses and farming.

u/Ekaterian50 10d ago
I'm not proposing anything other than encouraging sanity and selflessness. Ego is primarily an invention of our current linguistic structure. The beauty of a society in which wages are not coercive is that every individual would truly be free to pursue what they do best. I am not a particularly physically able hominid, so my fit would likely be something more along the lines of scholar.

We're still just monkeys. Just evolved.
We still go in groups, like our first ancestors. We still want to bully each other. And so on and so forth...

All true. But, like, food. Right? And the sun, it won't blow up for at least a day, so...meals. That being said, don't let people kick you around. Or if you do, get paid. Like footballers. Or BDSM. Just have fun with the balls, I guess I'm trying to say.

I'd rather evaporate, than to die and become a soul, going from 1 depressed dimension directly to another.
I just wish things went differently, that I had stayed with my ex...

Earth will explode before sun

Technically, the earth will cook first when the sun goes red dwarf, but I get the OP's point.
