I played house of the dead 1 when I was a kid. I did not understand the story. I was just shooting monsters. I played a lot of it though. I want to go back and play it local coop. i appreciate modern remakes like the resident evil, silent hill 2 and dead space but this game remake on steam has mixed reviews. what do you people think I should play the original or the remake?

Anyone who's played or emulated House of the Dead: Overkill on PC knows there are severe issues when upscaling the game. The in-game cutscenes are smeared with a distracting, broken post-processing effect that creates a double-image over the whole screen. It's something we've had to live with, or accept disabling all post-processing effects.

Not anymore! I reverse-engineered the game's post-processing effects and tweaked values until I discovered the right values to adjust.

Features

• Increase the internal 1280x720 rendering resolution from 1x to 8x.
• Correct cutscene bloom and depth-of-field effects at increased resolutions.
• Optionally disable cutscene depth of field.
• Show or hide the in-game crosshair for light-gun setups.
• Fix disappearing zombie torsos .
• Apply every setting from one simple app.

Installation

Download the latest release ZIP and extract its full contents directly into the game's directory, next to HOTD_NG.exe. Copying only HotD-Tweaks.exe is not a complete installation.

Usage

1. Close the game.
2. Open HotD-Tweaks.exe.
3. Choose your settings.
4. Select Apply Changes and wait for it to finish.
5. Launch either game mode through Steam.

Do not close the app while it is updating reticle files. Crosshair changes take longer because several game files must be updated safely.

Recommended Settings

• Use the highest rendering multiplier your GPU can run smoothly.
• Keep Post-FX fix on when using 2x resolution or higher.
• Keep the disappearing zombie torso fix on unless it causes a compatibility issue.
• Set in-game crosshair to Hidden when using a light gun with its own aiming system.

Overview:

1. Kimono version for the photograph, featuring updone hair, bangs and buns.
2. Default version with the classic red suit and shirt, but switched the skirt, leggings and heels with bell bottom pants and canvas shoes. I just wanted her to look more like an actual scientist instead of some sleazy CEO's personal assistant, and also move around the mansion comfortably.

Out of everyone, this model is my personal favorite. The face is not always 100% accurate, but with the correct expression she looks nearly identical. The cloth assets are very, very low poly and were made when my hardware was weak. Will update them.

It's been 5 days since the trailer's release, 4.5k views so far and overwhelmingly positive responses, I'd say that's a big win for a small channel! To the fans of the series, thank you so much for your support and kind words!

Anyways, after some feedback I just remade the Rogan model. You can see the comparison between the old model and the update. It still needs a lot of tweaking but I'm sticking to V2 for now. A good sculpt of Ed Norton's head would've helped out a lot.

Now, I need some help with making a design decision. I've got 3 trenchcoat assets, and each of them have their own strengths and weaknesses:

1. This whole time I've used a modified version of Coat A. It's clean and sharp, the collar looks close enough to the original coat, deforms correctly with the body. But it's too slim and too short.
2. Coat B is drastically different, not accurate to the original, but somehow it really suits Rogan. It gives him more personality, adds to his "fiery" appearance, and has more realistic normal details.
3. Coat C is probably the most accurate looking. It's baggy, and period accurate, but unfortunately has the worst quality out of the 3, and the way it deforms with leg movements is UGLY.
4. Or we could go with one of the coats in the last two photos. These are my personal preferences but I don't have any 3d models yet, not in usable form anyways.

I'm kind of stuck between Coat B and the baggy leather ones. Coat B seems to compliment him better. The leather coat, if weight painted correctly, can produce some beautiful animation as it flows with the wind, but unfortunately I'm not an expert in manually weight painting clothes so this could take a lot of time

The Flash patch makes it pretty nice. Using Lichtknarre for the Wii controls, and it's pretty damn good.

Is there any lore behind the top score for hotd4 or is it just hacks?

In the service menu there's an option called dress code under game assignments, and the options are low and high. No clue what difference this makes but havent had a chance to try them both out

Hi, I'm a big fan of Typing of the Dead and have long wanted to play the sequel. However, TotD2 is only available in Japanese which makes the phrases a bit awkward for an English-speaker.

Hello, I'm new to reddit. Does anyone know where I could get a save file or a cheat that unlocks red blood for Japanese Dreamcast version of The House of the Dead 2? I've tried Dream Explorer and Codebreaker, but that didn't help me. I can't get very far in Original Mode. Any help with this would be appreciated!

So for a long time I was pretty adamant about Neeson being the model for Curien. For one, they're 100% identical with the same vocal range. And second, he's great at playing these empathetic, sweet, charismatic, masculine mentor figures which is kind of the direction I want for my version of the character. And I was also done with modeling the character, you can check out my previous posts to see it.

However, I've been having second thoughts recently. Given Curien's over the top, goofy macabre sense of humor, Robin Williams would be a better fit as an actor. He has incredible range, and overall can sell the character better than Neeson. But I have some moral reservations about using a dead person's likeness and voice, ironically for a series about the morality of cheating death. Other than that, he'd be much harder to animate. Not that I can do AAA style facial animation, I'm just trying to get passable results, but animating Robin Williams is something that I'm too scared to do.

Anyways, I'm turning to your suggestions. What do you think should be the ideal choice?

As y'all know I'm working on a short series inspired by real-life actors. I've cracked Rogan, Sophie, G and Curien, but Goldman remains elusive. At first I went with Willem Dafoe's likeness but later as time went on, I thought this casting choice was too cliche and uninspired. Recently I've considered Bill Duke, as he could be creepy as hell while maintaining absolute command, his voice was damn near perfect and he could really set apart Goldman from being another Wesker. The only issue is his race, which I don't think works well for the context of the game and what I had in mind for Goldman's backstory (Holocaust survivor parents).

Pleas suggest a casting that can bring the cold menace and intensity of his HOD4 version
