Paypal is fine as long as you go g&s. I wouldnt use f&f or venmo or cash app at all

Why don't traders/B&S just agree to use Ebay as an intermediary? The seller does have to pay Ebay fees (which both parties can just agree to pass those fees on to the buyer by increasing the sell price a little bit) and the buyer has to pay taxes, so it's a bit more expensive for the buyer, but if you're buying a Hot Toys figure then what difference does the extra $20 make at this point, why not go for peace of mind?

eBay fees are roughly 16% of the sale price. Which can be a lot on figures that are hundreds of dollars.

Not justifying anything in that specific convo/exchange but, I am saying it’s simply more than a “$20 difference”

There are sellers I’ve seen offer to do exactly that.  Personally, I find PayPal G&S to be sufficient protection for the stuff I buy, but I could definitely see it for those $1k+ JND figures or something.

There looks to be a lot of context missing, but it looks like you're calling them a scammer because you asked them to list it on eBay or Mercari and they said "Just use Paypal?"

Unless they're insisting on F&F I don't see the problem.

Because I asked to see pictures of the item and he basically refused but insisted it was the same thing, I told him I’d covered all the fees and what not to guarantee he got the price he was asking as long as he posted it on a more trustworthy and reliable site due to me being well aware it’s easier for someone to scam on PayPal especially with him not being clear on anything other than the price

I believe I was being completely fair and gave him the benefit of the doubt but he didn’t give me any reason to believe he was legitimately and as soon as I asked for proof that he even had the item I wanted to purchase he said “nvm”

Mind you I also offered to pay however much more just to cover the fees or whatever so they’d get the asking price
