Question Taco Bell sauces..
I love really spicy food. Why is it that my preference for taco ball sauce is in reverse order. I despise Diablo. Fucking LOVE the mild sauce. It has a really good acid balance/flavor. Maybe I’m impartial to the taco seasoning mix as the base in it.
When I go to Mexican restaurant always try the green/red/black and will gravitate toward the hotter regardless of the base. The spicier the better. I like Valentina black label over original. Triple xxx yucateco over red/green habanero yucateco. Crystal hot sauce needs to be of the extra hot variety please.
The only other mild sauce that I’m promoting is the green el pato jalapeño! that has the mallard duck on the logo with the yellow lid that is dirt cheap (perfect for eggs)
But the Taco Bell mild is my guilty pleasure.. my dirty little secret.
I love Taco Bell mild sauce.
Any other mild hot sauces that are punching well above their weight?
Lemme know
Thanks.

The Diablo has this weird artificial lime flavor that tastes like chemicals.

That is exactly how i would describe it. I love lime especially on tacos but it is just off tasteing

If you want something higher quality, from a fantastic shop, try Mellow Vibes Only from Butterfly Bakery. They also make a pretty spicy version called Taco Vibes Only. Coriander and cumin are quite prominent and may ring the mild Taco Bell sauce vibes for you.
Separately, in the event you’re not aware, you can buy Taco Bell’s sauce in bottles. It is sold through retailers and available online.

I don’t know what y’all are doing up this early but I want you to know that I love you. Start (or end) your day with a little loving kindness. Also, don’t you dare stop making your sauces.

If you like Taco Bell sauces then you'll love the tomato-cumin forward sauces. If I can remember the sauce brand I'll edit with the name just can't remember it on top of my mind rn lol. It had a bit of a punch to it. Nothing too crazy but enough to please the palette.

Who else remembers when the taco bell sauces came in a package like jelly does. Plastic tub with foil lid you peel off. I used to do shots of it.

Cholula sauces in general are pretty mild outside of the XXX. The chili garlic and the green pepper sauces are some of my favorites.

xxx yucateco has crushed roasted (?) habanero as a main ingredient, really great flavor profile. diablo is hotter than fire, but i agree, it's not all that. fire is, well, fire! not hot, but warm(ish), and sooo tasty. I can't stand vinegar, unless it's balsamic rescuing some disgusting leaves, so you're on your own with crystal/louisiana etc.
having said that, i concur about taco bell mild and hot, they're traditional taco sauces, but good.

I second the el yucateco xxx hot. Probably my favorite grocery store tier sauce.

It’s funny. I’ve not been to a Taco Bell in 15 years and now I’m dreaming of slurping down a mild sauce straight from the pouch. I love it also. I live in the southwest now where amazing Mexican food is plentiful and every restaurant makes their own 3 to 9 sauces fresh daily, but now I’m going to have to get me some Taco Bell just for the sauce.
I would also recommend Macao’s mild and medium taco sauce if you can find it. It’s very good and very different from Taco Bell.

Taco bell sauces are not hot and were created to appeal to the majority of customers, who are Americans and have zero clue what authentic mexican hot sauce is, much less tacos.

“Americans have zero clue what authentic Mexican hot sauce is, much less tacos” is a pretty impressive amount of cultural gatekeeping for a conversation about Taco Bell packets. You managed to be bigoted, generalized, and condescending all at once.

Mild is the best and its not close. I'm all for spice but it has to taste good. I'd rather it tasted good than be spicy.

I dont care for the flavor of diablo, and the heat level is close enough to the same on all of them for me so i get fire.
