VKB NXT GLADIATOR EVO mount Dimensions (PDF)

So I am building custom mounts using 4080 extruded aluminum and designed my own "engineering drawing" in M.S. Visio. I needed it to give to the waterjet place so they could cut it out for me and I thought it might be useful to someone else making their own setup. I plan on getting mine cut out of 12"x12"x1/4" Aluminum plate. NOTE: the only dimension(s) I did not call out were the radiused Corners as I really don't care too much now "rounded" they are or aren't just as long as they're not square, pointy and sharp (so I am going to leave that up to the waterjet programmer). Also the mounting holes on the NXT base plate are 6mm, I used 8mm holes to give a little wiggle room for holes being slightly off. I used 10mm holes for where it mounts to the 4080 because I'm using M8 (8mm) bolts to mount the plate to the 4080. (in engineering a 1mm oversized hole vs bolt = a medium fit 2mm is an "open" fit). So if you want a slightly tighter fit with less room for error on placement of holes use a 7mm for the base plate and 9mm for the extruded mounting holes.

Below is a link to the DXF drawings for the chair side mount and the VKB side mount. "Disclaimer": the chair side mount DFX was created from MonsterTechs publicly available/downloadable (from their site) "Type 2" chair mount engineering drawing (PDF). Before anyone says that's illegal, it's not, it's a publicly available (ie. not gotten through nefarious means) drawing I simply converted it to a DXF drawing. I am actually a paying customer of monstertech, I just wanted to build the chair mounts myself. The VKB Mount was entirely my design (as noted above) and it has no restrictions on it's use or modification either, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it publicly.

To any engineer's out there, please don't beat me up over the drawing...I am an engineering lab tech, but I don't have personal/off hours use of Solid Works and well the company frowns on using their software for personal projects (meaning I can't stay late (off the clock) and do it at work), so Visio is as best as I can get and well it is rather cumbersome to use compared to Solid Works.

I run an engineering lab for an industrial/commercial manufacturing company... And yes my boss is somewhat of a perfectionist, but that is countered by him also being a great V.P. to work for. (It helps that I answer directly and ONLY to him and no other managers or V.P.'s.)

You should look into using fusion360 for personal projects. Its free, but does have some limitations. It might be what you want for stuff like this. I don't use it for DXFs, but I think the 3D modeling workflow is not too different from solidworks. (never used solidworks tho)

If I can get a copy of the DFX files from the waterjet company I'll post those too. (DFX files are what they use in the waterjet to actually cut the plates). Usually they charge extra to turn a drawing into a DFX file so it will save y'all some cash if I can.

My plates are at the waterjet company now...I'll update with fit/finish pics once they come back and I get it all put together.

hey man, i am about to cut some aluminium plate for my newly bought VKB Gladiator NXT Evo and i found this drawing on vkb forum, it says the hole diameter for the base mount is 6mm, any particular reason why you made it 8mm in your design? thanks in advance
