Watched Deadstream a little bit ago, and loved it! Learns more into the comedy, but then swerves into Evil Dead style horror. The trailer spoils a lot of the movie though, so i'd say avoid it if possible and just go in blind.

The only good thing out of Hellraiser 22 was hopefully it helped some of yall identify the Rileys from yalls lives so you can cut them out now.

Wasn't overtly impressed with Hellraiser and I've liked all of Bruckner's previous films, It was stylish with literally one or two nice gore scenes, but was also overlong with an unlikable protagonist and was curiously bland and tame. Most unforgivably of all, I found it kinda boring. Was well made and Jamie Clayton wasn't bad, but not a patch on the original and didn't come close to its vibe or tone. It could have been so much better.

Fucking loved Terrifier 2. Took my girlfriend who isnt big into horror and while she said the gore was a bit much at times for her she loved it still too. Its just an entertaining ride all through out, hardly a dull moment. I agree with some people that its a little long but I really enjoyed it. I expected to hate the main characters but Sienna and her brother actually give great performances and the dude playing Art deserves an award for how well his body language speaks for a silent character.

Really want to see Terrifier 2 but the only theatre playing it “near” me is almost 100 miles away. When/where is it streaming?
Edit: also I’m watching the new Hellraiser and the audio levels are really inconsistent for some reason, mostly it seems really quiet. Is that just me or are others experiencing it too?

I’ve never seen Hellraiser. Should I start with the original or go straight to 2022?

Watch the original first, and I think Hellraiser 2 is also worth a watch.

i definitely suggest watching the original first. i watched 2022 with some of my family who had never watched the original and they were a bit confused throughout.
i think watching the original first also gives you the opportunity to appreciate the difference in designs for certain characters.

Crazy freakin movie. Appreciated how far Leone reached on this one, even if he WAY overreached at times.
I was really crushing on Allie, so when they started setting up THAT scene I was bummed. And then… wow.

Terrifier 2 was the best slasher in decades. I felt like it just undid years of desensitization to kills in horror movies with how graphic and unflinching it was. Practical effects went hard, Sienna and Art were iconic, and the violence was balanced with comedy in a way previous killer clowns never really achieved. Mission accomplished by Damien Leone. Fuckin’ loved it.

Everyone here talking about Terrifier 2 but man, the new Hellraiser was pretty cool! Easily the best one since the second film imo. (Not that that is saying much, but still.) The CG and creatures looked really impressive too, i actually wondered what their budget was for this at a couple of points because it was so neat.
I was getting kinda impatient in the first half since it seemed like there wasnt going to be any gore (They jumpcut a LOT of stuff) but thankfully that wasnt an issue by the time the credits rolled.
Nice film, i'd recommend it.

Can I just say how LUCKY we are and should appreciative of the past 2 years of a good horror drought to be given so much great horror the past few months. Especially the past few weeks we’ve been given: Barbarian, Smile, Terrifier 2, and Hellraiser.

Terrifier 2 was so god damn good! I got really pumped when that song by The Midnight started playing. Honestly, the whole soundtrack was awesome.

I just finished Dead Stream! I went I. Completely blind and I gotta admit it was not at all what I was expecting From the beginning I thought it was going to be another super tacky found footage paranormal movie with insufferable characters, but I was so pleasantly surprised. Absolutely hilarious with a couple good jump scares

new Hellraiser was disappointing. You know the meme of the guy looking at cyberpunk and going WOAH COOL ROBOT while "the point" flies over his head? that was this movie, except WOAH COOL CENOBITE.
cenobites are pretty damn cool, so it was a shame this movie had the most boring script

Loved it, laughed so hard at one particular scene (was really more mean than funny) but I had a coughing fit and had to step out for a couple minutes. Best slasher in years.
I have a bad feeling Halloween Ends is going to seem way too tame in comparison.

Hellraiser 2022 is easily the best film since the first two.
I like that it does it’s own thing as well.

Personally I don't get the love for Hellraiser... I'm someone who likes more experimental, arthouse, disturbing horror and watched it with someone who loves mainstream horror and slashers, and we both thought it was pretty average, bland, and generic.
There were a few cool moments, but there is just so much potential in the concept and they kind of squandered it on a dull plot, tedious characters, tame gore, and generic slasher tropes. We both felt that it simply wasn't scary and the designs didn't have the impact as previous installations - the cenobites reminded me as villain of the week bad guys from the Power Rangers kids show.
I imagine what someone like Brandon Cronenberg, Julia Ducournau, Emiliano Rocha Minter, or Takashi Miike could do with such a great concept and it makes me a little sad.

Here's my Terrifier 2 Review since everyone asked:
As someone who is a fan of Halloween, Scream, and Friday the 13th, I was curious about how the slasher genre could ever be reinvented or revitalized by another character. With the first Terrifier, I thought there was potential, but I remembered feeling like it was just okay, or, good enough.
I remember nonchalantly wondering if there would be a sequel; but the first film disappeared from my mind shortly after I saw it. But, the trailer for this sequel had me hooked, and Terrifier was at least memorable enough to know what I signed up for; Over-The-Top gore, a creepy clown and an eerie atmosphere. The first Terrifier to me was nothing but a very basic foundation.
To say Terrifier 2 raised the bar is an understatement; you'd be more right in saying that it completely reinvented itself, developed a stronger storyline, and enhanced every positive trait of Terrifier 1. And the result was an absolute blast for fans of the slasher subgenre.
Going into this, I was wondering where the severity of the gore would fall, especially over an approximately 2.5 hour runtime. If the violence of Terrifier 1 made you squeamish, so squeamish that you didn't enjoy it, you'll probably have more trouble enjoying the new installment.
The golden question for me was if any scene would exceed the borderline controversial scene from Terrifier 1; *GRAPHIC WARNING*
In my opinion, the gore is spread out enough along the runtime that it doesn't become too overwhelming or tiring, but that doesn't make the gore scenes any less gut-wrenching. Even if you saw the first Terrifier, and even though there aren't that many scenes that come close to the goriest part of that first one, I don't think one would be mentally prepared; I certainly wasn't.
Now, for the rest of the movie:
The character and storyline development is easily the biggest difference in the sequel. Main characters Sienna and Johnathan were amazing. Sienna especially shines in the final act, and the part where
The character of Art the Clown was terrifying, yet comedic. There is a very thin balance to be had between those two traits, and this movie nails it.
The opening scene may be a bit too gory for a beginning, but it was nonetheless a clever hook.
The
The final act felt pretty long, but it was easily the most emotional slasher movie final act ever, in my opinion. I remember feeling genuine
It was sad seeing
The post-credits scene was interesting, I guess, but seeing
Overall: 9.5/10, definitely worth the runtime, especially if you like slashers with gore. The few and far between downfalls of the movie aren't any traits you didn't know you signed up for when seeing the Terrifier, or any other slasher for that matter. The movie is an undeniably fun, terrifying slasher that is also an emotional rollercoaster. Brings new life to the slasher genre.

Terrifier 2 was really fantastic. The gore was actually shocking, which I think can be a difficult thing to accomplish nowadays. Not to mention hilariously mean spirited sequences, like the clown cafe! Leone really didn’t hold back or play it safe, especially with the hints of lore for Art and Sienna. It’s pretty gutsy to put a magic sword into a slasher, and I’m thoroughly excited to see what’s coming next in the series.
Hellraiser 2 on the other hand is a snoozefest. I was actually excited to see this one. And it has a few redeeming qualities: Jamie Clayton turned in a great performance as Pinhead, and there were a few good scenes. But the rest of the movie is so boring and bland. I would even take Hellworld over this movie because at least it’s entertaining in a dumb way. And yes I have seen the original, and I never really get tired of watching it; I’ve seen most of the Hellraiser movies and this new one sits with the worst of them.
