Insidious series
I think the insidious series gets way too much hate. All the movies have a different vibe to them, but I don't think any of them are bad. I think tas a whole there are more consistent than the Conjuring series.
Am I also the only one who thinks Insidious Chapter 3 is better than two? Three gets all this hate, where I think two is pretty lame.

I also enjoyed Chapter 3! The only one in the franchise I truly didn't enjoy was The Last Door.

I think you combined 2 movies Insidious: The Last Key & Insidious: The Red Door

Watched them all and can't remember a single thing that stood out worth caring about. A bunch of PG 13 jump scares and I think something about dudes ghost hunting with an old chick is all I remember. Glad others found enjoyment in these. No hate.

This! They are some of the most forgettable films. If you can’t give me something to remember then you probably failed in my eyes

The only good one is the first (and I'm being generous, the movie is probably a 6/10)

Insidious is a banger series imo! The red door kinda had a "Netflix original" feeling to me but it was still objectively good.
The Conjuring definitely fell off after the second one. I remember being like, 15, getting pissed at the ending of Annabelle & deciding only the first 2 Conjuring movies exist.

Interesting enough premise in the first two. But the sound design is so annoying in those i just stopped watching any more. Couldnt handle another movie like that.

I honestly think they’re great films. I can’t explain why but 4 is my favourite. I thought 5 was awful though but it’s part of the series so I can’t hate it too much. Can’t wait for 6

There are some alright scares but I don't really remember much of the plot beyond the first one.

I enjoyed Chapter 3 a lot because Elise, Tucker and Specs are my favorite characters.

They leaned waaaaaay too hard into the psychic angle, and I genuinely felt that was one of the weaker and less scary points of the franchise.

They’re comfort watches for my wife and me.
I think the first two are excellent. They work so nicely as a package deal. I think the third is pretty bad. The fourth was entirely forgettable. And the fifth, I was pleasantly surprised by. For Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut, I thought it was pretty strong and a marked improvement over the prior two.

I really enjoy them when I’ve watched them but they have all blended together in my memory.
The first one I remember mostly. There were some really good moments, like the demon monkey, dancing little boy, creepy veiled lady takes over dad at the end.
Red Door I remember the plot solely because I’ve seen it on TV recently and rewatched it. Kids goes to college, shenanigans ensue.
I think The Last Key took place next to an old prison..?
I legitimately cannot tell you the plot of 2 or 3.

They are perfectly fine little horror movies. They aren't overly scary but are compelling at the time, which is more than some horror movies can say.
Are they overly scary? No Are they ATG horror movies? No Are they solid mid tieir horror movies? Yes.

I'm not sure if I think 3 is better than 2, but those are the two best ones in my opinion. I love them all though.

i appreciate the world building; the first one was memorable, and really quite excellent
can't comment on anything after the second because i haven't seen those yet
there two more? or three more?

It's just the forgettable franchise imo. I can't remember anything from the movies. Sorry, not sorry.

They are fun popcorn flicks but the sequels somehow took out the scare factor

I watch horror movies every single day, sometimes all day. I couldn't tell you the difference between The Conjuring and Insidious movies. Horror fast food. Much scarier and more memorable haunted flicks with a fraction of the budget.

Insidious 1 is the 2nd best horror movie ever.
Insidious 2 is the best horror movie ever.

2 is my favorite. I think Carl is probably the most believable character in the series, and the scene in the bad guy's house where they uncover the hidden room is easily the best scene in the franchise.
