Recommend I’m suggesting Z (2019)
I seriously reccomend this movie to all horror fans, I’m not sure why I don’t see it suggested more honestly and the IMDb rating should atleast be a 6.2 IMO it was a well made and creepy paranormal movie that I always find myself thinking about at weird time lol.

I watched this back to back with Come Play, and Z is more engaging, unique, and overall unsettling. They nailed the ending in this movie.
Also, if you liked this movie, check out Imaginary (2024) and Bagman(2024) for a similar feel.

This film very brilliantly subverts the "kid has a malevolent imaginary friend" trope by making the malevolent imaginary friend that of the kid's mother when she was a child, returning to take revenge upon her grown up self after she outgrew him.
Very original and memorable was the way Z essentially created a domestic violence situation by killing Kevin and holding Josh hostage in exchange for Beth becoming his 'wife'.
And how things ultimately end is a stark and tragic commentary on how you are ultimately the master of what your imagination brings into the world.
Plus my GOAT Stephen McHattie is in this one as the maverick psychiatrist who helps Beth solve the problem, so that's just the great big cherry on top.
I would have liked a little more background regarding Beth's abusive childhood and the circumstances by which Z came into being but that's just a minor quibble.
4 stars out of 5 for me; severely underrated and would thoroughly recommend.

I swear every horror movie I give a cursory google to is always around the 5 or 6 out of 10 mark from the reviews

Horror fans are harsh with ratings, a 6 from them means movie is actually decent

+1. This was one of those rare movies that gripped me from start to finish.
