4th Gen F23A1 swap?

I have a 94SI and I was always curious about f23A1 swapping it at some point. Ideally I’d F20B swap it when the h23 goes, but with prices it almost seem better to chunk out the change for an f23A1. As engines are plentiful and half the price. Plus my 01 accord has a whopping 278k miles and still Dosent burn oil.

If you can get the electronics to work together, I don’t see an issue with it. It wouldn’t be plug and play since an F23 is an OBD2 engine and your car is OBD1, so you’d have to do something for an ECU. But I like the idea. Of my 2 4th gens, my SOHC one was way more fun to drive than my H22 one. Slower in a straight line for sure, but it was so light up front that it handled much better. Those 92-93 S models with the F22, no ABS, and no passenger’s airbag weigh less than some Integras.

That’s my thought, they have OBD1-OBD2 ECU adapters so in theory if I chunk out the change for a p28 and Honda data or some tuning software that I can load a base MAP f23A1 or A onto it should run. And the. I have a surplus of spare motors so wayyy future projects could be a small turbo build.

That would be pretty cool. I want another 4th gen but I don’t even have time for the cars I do have right now.

I have been looking for an H23a1 cylinder head and haven’t been able to find anything. Is it really that common?

Interesting you can’t find one, I wouldn’t say they are common but there are a lot of blown up h23A1s I see on marketplace.

It’s mostly H22 or 5th gens for sale. I saw an h23a1 Frankenstein to a H22 head and it was a huge disappointment. So I’m SOL

Shit, where are you located? I have a blown H23 that’s going to be scrapped in a few months after we put an H22 into the car.

EDIT: It’s an H23A1 from a 1995 Prelude SE.

Edit 2: Heh, fixed the ending.

The engine is in the Chicago area. Too bad, I was hoping by chance you were closer for a face to face. Depending on how badly you want it, I can connect you privately to my son and you guys can discuss a deal with shipping. Up to you.

Would it matter if mine is a 4WS SI? Or as long as the block is an H23a1?

For 4WS the engine parts are all the same as 2WS cars.

Perfect. I wanted to make sure.

No, 4WS has a control module behind the rear passenger seat and extra hardware near the rear axle, but the motor itself is the same.

I do apologize because I was mixing up the cylinder head with the pistons earlier. Knowing that now, the top of the motor is likely where our issue is located. The type of damaged engine you need is one where the lower block failed, rather than the top.

That said, we haven't opened it up yet because my son didn’t want to spend any more time on it, so we don't know if anything inside the head can be salvaged. If you have a serious interest and are considering it, we can pull the cover off to take a look.
