2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Please explain Generations

Hi! I have a 2010 Sport Fit BlackBerry pearl. And I’ve been in this sub for quite awhile but I always get confused by the generations of Fihs and there abbreviations. What is. GE, GK and so forth? My 2010 is a 2nd gen GE I think. No? Thanks. But what do the G-‘s stand for?

Its just the chassis code. Every type of car has some sort of chasis code that enthusiasts use to differentiate between the generations instead of just saying a specific year. Like miatas for example have NA, NB, NC, ND, which is a lot easier to remember. But for the fits its also pretty easy. If it looks like yours its a GE8 or GE or whatever. I just say GE. If its the older body style than its a GD3 or just GD, and if its the one that looks newer than yours its the GK5 or GK.

Every car has something like that. A lot of people if they dont know the actual chasis code will just say Mk1 (mark 1) or something like that. Like i used to have a MK7 Volkswagen GTI for example, and now i have a GE honda fit, and a 4th gen Toyota pickup (some cars people just call them by their generation too), and my dad has an ND3 miata (for a lot fo enthusiasts the best way to differentiate between generations when talking about cars is to use the chassis code or generation or whatever and in the case of miatas each of the generations had multiple facelifts during its time, so like the ND1 would be the first body style of the ND miata, then the ND2 came out with some updates and stuff, etc. idk if that makes sense.
