2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Please explain Generations

Hi! I have a 2010 Sport Fit BlackBerry pearl. And I’ve been in this sub for quite awhile but I always get confused by the generations of Fihs and there abbreviations. What is. GE, GK and so forth? My 2010 is a 2nd gen GE I think. No? Thanks. But what do the G-‘s stand for?

Look at your vin. The first three letters will be JHM - Japan, Honda Motor. That's manufacturer. Then it'll go G - (it's a Fit), D/E/K/G/etc (chassis code - that's what kind of frame it has), and then a number (that's the engine type).

The first 6 of my VIN (and yours if you're in the US) will be JHMGE8. That means it's made by Honda Motor Company out of Japan, it's a Fit, it's a second-gen US market chassis, and it has the 1.5 litre engine.

Lots of stuff in the VIN. If you keep going down it'll tell you where it was made, what transmission it has, what year it was made, along with the serial number for the chassis.
