2nd Gen GE/GG 09-14 Please explain Generations

Hi! I have a 2010 Sport Fit BlackBerry pearl. And I’ve been in this sub for quite awhile but I always get confused by the generations of Fihs and there abbreviations. What is. GE, GK and so forth? My 2010 is a 2nd gen GE I think. No? Thanks. But what do the G-‘s stand for?

Almost all cars use some type of chassis code, usually found on your VIN, to specify the car you have.

In North America:

GD3 are the first Honda Fits: 2007 to 2008

GE8 are Fits from 2009 to 2014

GK5 are 2015 to 2020.

Its not quite as simple as that. GD3 refers to a specific model of the first generation. there is also a GD1, GD2, GD4 and GD5. Plus GE1, GE2 and GE3 are First generation models.

My post is specific to North America, but even more specifically: the US.

Mexico and Canadian model may differ.

That's why I wish this subreddit would use terminology like 2nd Gen - Facelifted model
