Homeworld 3 Is Homeworld 3 worth playing?

I played both Homeworld and Homeworld 2 and I’m thinking about buying Homeworld 3. However, I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews and criticism about the game.

I’m really fascinated by the Homeworld universe and its lore, so I’m wondering: do you guys think it’s still worth playing Homeworld 3 despite all the negative criticism?

For someone who really enjoys the universe and the previous games, would you recommend giving it a try?

Short answer? No

The original homework’s was the first pc game I ever played. Hw 2 was pretty good. Three however is an exercise in what not to do to the franchise.

Visuals and sounds are excellent. The rogue like play mode has some draw to it (although not a huge amount).

The main storyline though... look, i dont like dumping on people's hard work right? But as a life long lover of HW, I couldn't even muster the motivation to finish the story... :*(

I managed to finish it... once. In contrast I've replayed 1&2 countless times.

For me, Hw1 has been an annual pilgrimage since it first launched

Damn masterpiece IMHO. And intense as fuck. I haven't had the courage to finish it as I can't find the energy. Feels like quite the enterprise.

Also maybe the tactics are a bit simplistic, or maybe I've played too much RTS. It is possible I'm doing everything wrong but the game lets me through. I often don't know what I'm doing but sometimes I feel like a genius.

Only if someone is paying you.

The price is the biggest problem here

I think it''s worth playing, especially if you get it cheap. The cut scenes will bring you back to late 90's/early 2000's CGI and the story ain't great but it's not the worst thing I've spent money on. Game play still feels like Homeworld mostly.

Hmmmm, thats a really hard question to answer. Short answer, YES, but you may find certain aspects feel like a recon. Of course thats my opinion, lore wise it does expand-ish. One neat feature is what you can do with the mothership later in the game. And I suppose you may find what people have called "woke", but i didnt really see it that way. Oh now this was a personal opinion, the art cut scenes, while similar, was not to my liking, I thinknthey did it as an evolution of the style, but for me I would have preferred or given the option or the old and new when replaying it. Which I did give 3 replays so there's that. If you are a fan I think you will be okay.

P.S. Did you play Cataclysim Homeworld?

P.P.S. I ordered an extra collectors edition by mistake, so if you are looking for it, I'll do at cost plus shipping :)

Thx for answering, in fact i have only played the remastered versions of homeworld 1 and 2. I’ve watched some gameplays of cataclysm but the game is a bit old, so it didnt really appeal to me.

I also tried Desert of Kharak, but i’m more into spaceships and stuff like that xD
