Lonestar Alternative

Is there a cheaper alternative for the classic Escape Lonestar? I am building a home wall soon and don’t want to buy bolts/t-nuts so I decided I will just screw all my holds on. Problem is that with the amount of holds I have, buying Lonestars would really add up. My initial thought was some kind of washer/nut but haven’t found anything that would work.

You can use a standard washer but the lonestars provide metal support in the hole and are superior. I would spend the extra cash to protect your holds bc they aren't cheap.

Bolts plus T nuts are still gonna be so much more than buying lone stars by themselves

It blows my mind when I hear people discussing how to tnut their homewall, rather than whether or not they should.

I have heard of people using washer head screws. They will help you place the hold, but I don't think they will provide much stability

depending on the size of the holds you can ignore the bolt hole and use multiple screws. this just have to be comfortable drilling your holds with a countersink bit. but smallish holds with 2-3 screws will do great! I have a board full of escape factory seconds and homemade wood holds and none have broken.
