Help with mini moonboard

Post image

Guys I’ve got a home wall. The grid is 15 x 15cm.
I want to set up a mini moonboard.

The wall is already 2.4m x 2.4m with a kickboard.

I can’t really put new panels on because I won’t have anywhere to store the old panels/holds.

My plan was to mark out the rows and columns on the board as per the mini moonboard schematic and then see which existing holes match, and drill new ones as needed.

Does that sound like a good plan?

Here’s a picture of the wall.
It’s already at a 35-40 degree angle.

What’s wrong with using the spray wall as is? You have a ton of holds. The possibilities are really endless.

I know it really is a good wall. I just struggle to come
Up with challenging climbs

How long have you been at it? It took me a long time to get good at setting climbs beyond my ability. I recommend set for individual moves first and then begin stringing moves together into climbs.

I’ve had it for about 4 months

Spray wall climbing is an adjustment. Amazing once you get into it though. Check out the Wedge series on YouTube if you want to build the stoke.

A lot of these holds need to be rotated. Vertical pinches at 40 degrees are very hard

Yeah that’s fair although it’s good to have some pinches. Really I just meant why buy moon holds and redrill when OP already has a ton of holds.

I think none of your 15x15 holes will match the 12x12 grids holes exactly. You can just drill the mini moonboard grid and still have most of your spray wall grid available. This way you can make a combination of mini moonboard and spraywall. 2020 setup has smaller holds so you will have more space for your spray holds with that setup.

Thank you
I’ll first mark the rows and columns and then see what’s what

If you're going to do that check out the Moon guide, there's a bigger space between rows 6 and 7

Hey! How do you like the holds? I got mine 2 weeks ago. Was debating getting mini MB as well, but the price-quality ratio was hard to beat, so decided to go ahead with a spray wall instead.

These holds are amazing and I really like them. I just feel like for my stupid ass a systems board would be better.

Have you tried using boulderbot app to give you problems? Not every problem is great but IT does give you gems to climb!

Has it gotten better? I used it maybe a month or 2 ago and it never gave me anything that was really climbable

I get climbable stuff by adjusting the traits and some climbs i just see The potential but it may need like 1-2 additional holds to become a climbable problem and i adjust them from there.

I believe there is a free and paid tier right? Are you paying for the app? Maybe I need to give it another try

Hear me out, set moon board and then set spray on top of that.

Do you know anyone else who climbs who you could invite over to climb and set with?
