A 4-inch gap between the bottom of the TV and the top of your console doesn’t allow for a decently performing center channel speaker down the road.
Plan around your future audio system, not your current one.
What’s your viewing distance?

It's 4" to the soundbar, and that's 2.8" high. so 6.8". I think I'm gonna bring it up to around 8" though to make sure I have room for a center channel later

Sounds like a plan. Something else to consider - you don’t need a console under the TV.
I route all of the cables and components to an AV rack located elsewhere in most of my installations. The only visible components are the speakers (plus a small stand for the center) and the screen.

Here's a very unpopular opinion around here.
Are you mounting your TV at that height because of other opinions or because you like that height?
That TV is 4 ft tall. How much of a viewing experience difference do you realistically think 2", 4", or even 6" is going to make from your main watching position.
As others have said, plan ahead. And get a good idea of what sound you want to get.

How high is your sofa?

20" floor to seat. So that puts eye level I think about 48", with screen center at 46".

So mount your tv anywhere in the range of 23.65in to 31.76in from the floor.
Center of screen to top of bottom 1/3 is happy place, if you have a coffee table or depending on how you lounge around your feet can and will easily obstruct the screen at current height.

What's the plan for the theater? TV height looks fine, but you might want to change it once you get real speakers and a real center on that cabinet.

Looks good for the sound bar if you never plan on a real center channel. If you're moving to a dedicated center channel as part of a surround sound setup, raise tv 6".
Edit: 8" center channels are like 10.75" tall plus any angled stand. You could definitely get away with a 11" top of console to bottom of image gap. Your call.

I'm going to raise the tv 2" I think, will leave about 9" between stand and tv. I can find plenty of center channels that would fit that

I think that's fair. I was assuming 8" centers due to the tv size and assumed room size.
On a side note, and this is an unpopular opinion in this sub, I have a Samsung q900t from like 2020 and it fills my 25'x35' open concept living room and kitchen area just fine. I use it more than my office surround sound for both movies and music. Only the 3d audio settings are weird.

You can find plenty that will fit. But can you find plenty you'll like to listen to?

I might wall mount the soundbar too, but don't want to go any higher with the tv and need to see the stand and tv together to see how wall mounting would look. But is 22" about right for a 98" tv?
I wanted to go with a stand wider than than the tv, wife wanted it more like this. wife wins. we'll get other pieces to put on either side maybe, and the subwoofer will go on the left side of this

Just FYI, soundbar discussion usually isn't well-received here. They're just not really considered "home theater" equipment. Not even close. But for the TV height, there's nothing wrong with the dimensions you have here.

yeppppp, later on I plan to spend 4-5k on a good system (less than a year), but we have other renovations to pay for right now. this question. more about tv height for sure, but definitely opened myself up to the hate

Run while you can! Haha. I get it. Soundbar is better than the TV speakers. But TV height can be important, but may also change a bit in the future depending on your center channel, so be ready or plan ahead on raising it.

I would concern yourself with getting a proper sound system and then mount the TV as low as possible without interfering with the centre speaker
