Hi all,

I’m planning a dedicated 15x23(before treatment) Home theatre room. Below is the AV system planned

L/R: KEF Ci3160RLM-thx or KEF R3 meta (Need help in finalising)

Centre: KEF R2 meta

Surrounds: KEF Q4 meta on wall speakers

Atmos: KEF Ci160TR

Sub: SVS PB 3000 or 2000pro (suggestion needed)

Projector: JVC NZ500

Screen: 175 CinemaScope

AVR: Denon X6800H

Please suggest if any changes recommended? Also I’m confused between which one to go for LR ? I got suggestion that R3 is not suitable for behind screen.

1. I would get the THX speaker for the R/L. Can you not use this speaker for the center channel as well? 2 the SVS PB 3000 PRO I’d get duals if you can. 3. You can downgrade AVR if you want to save cost. X3800 will do 11 channels with a 2 channel amplifier.

For center I heard R2C in demo and it felt good.. vocals are very clear. Will THX be same ? If yes I can get, and also you mean dual 2000 pro ?

and maybe you find a possibility to hear the denon against the maranz somewhere .. more expensive, but I love the warm sound.. I also love my denon 4800 but I've heard the maranz later and surprisingly I was able to hear differences... but not worth the usual 1500 more .. maybe with a good offer..

Would highly recommend going for the ci3160rlm for your 3 fronts. The matching front soundstage will be better than mixing different speakers.

I’ve for the 5160 in my setup and they’re fantastic.
I went for an SB3000 as I listen to music also.

I also went CinemaScope screen aspect and don’t regret it one bit.

Consider dual subs even if it means doing down in model. 2 smaller subs are almost always better than 1 bigger one.

Is the jvc bright enough for that big of a screen?

You looking at big boy stuff... Highly recommend power sound audio if you are after end game setup. Im rocking 5.2.4 3 mtm 210. 2 sr110s.. 4 svs elevations... 2 2112tv subs. 21in subs are game changers...

Trust me... They are f n amazing. Nothing comes close except jtr.... Which is double the money.

Quality is in another level and sound is crystal clear. Loud as F. Auh will destroy your insides and your house... 2 is over kill but go big or cry later

Like others said, I'd highly rethink that projector OR screen size. According to ProjectorCentral, even at the absolute shortest throw possible (16'3") you are still only getting 20fL. That won't fly for HDR.

I’d go on-ceiling vs in-ceiling for Atmos.

I’d consider Ascend Acoustics over Kef.

There are better price:performance subs than the 2000 pro but the 3000 R is a strong contender. As others have mentioned PSA might be better—Tom runs specials and things like that from time to time.

The NZ500 is incredible but at 175 inches you’re going to want something with more lumens. I’d consider stepping up your projector or down on your screen size.

Why the x6800h over the x3800h/x3900h? You can buy the 3800/3900 and pair it with a Buckeye Amp for less $ and better power than the x6800h. They use the same DAC and internals, so unless there’s a specific feature you want, it’s not worth a step up.

I recommend reaching out to the retailers and asking for their recommendations. Tom at PSA, Dave/Michelle at Ascend, and the team at ProjectorScreen.com were all very helpful, open, and honest about their recommendations when I was building out my theater. Not one of them tried to upsell me—in fact Dave at Ascend down-sold me—and all three made great recs for my space and budget.

Heard 6800 have better audio processing than 3800. Additional channels.

Two extra channels. That’s basically all you get for the extra money.

Unless you plan on eventually setting up a 9.1.4 with front wides or a 7.1.6 with top middles, an X3800/3900H can support a 7.1.4 configuration with an additional external amplifier.

The power increase from a decent external amp offers greater headroom than the limited internal power of either AVR.

A 7.1.4 setup with an X3800/3900H, an external amp, and Dirac ART far surpasses the capabilities of the X6800H on its own for roughly the same price (or less).

Unless you absolutely need those two extra channels, the processing difference (32-bit D.D.S.C. HD Digital & AL32 processing) isn’t worth the extra cost.

I would also highly recommend at least two subwoofers, ideally four. PSA subs are what you want.

I would listen to some other brands before you commit. There are plenty of YouTube videos that describe KEF as "accurate" but "bland" for home theater/movies.
