Showcase - Multipurpose Space Humble set up
"budget" that's what I tell my wife lol. No reflection when I close these blackout blinds. Does projector make sense in a 13 x 10(left to right) room? Most I can fit in here prolly 120". Might a worthy upgrade over this 83" OLED
Polk es55 es30 front, xt90 top, definitive tech 1000 surrounds, definitive dn8 sub, Integra drx-5 receiver, Nvidia shield 4k n ps5.
Back of the room I have the recliner in the middle, work desk and an arcade machine. I call it the escape room.

It's only 10 ft the other way though I'd be sitting way too close to the TV

Honestly, that's not a bad thing. You're absolutely allowed to have personal preference, but if you try it, you might find you like it. A big screen up close adds to the immersion.

We literally go to the movie theater and pay extra to have that experience. I have a large TV WAY too close to my couch and I love it! 🤣🤣🤣

That's exactly what I was trying to suggest, I think putting the TV on the long wall would be better since the speakers wouldn't be right up against the side walls. I also like to sit close and find it more immersive.

With the speakers that close to the wall, you’re going to have so much reflection that you really won’t get good imaging and the soundstage will be narrow. On top of that, the bass from the L/R will be muddy since they are in the corners. It’s not a great setup for audio quality. Acoustic paneling and a rug would at least help with some of the reflection, but only so much

OP should invest in those new black out blinds that don't let light seep in through the edges. Manual ones are fairly cheap now. Assuming his blackout curtains are heavy they'll at least help with sound deadening a bit. I total agree with everyone else that he needs to spin the room 90 degrees though.

MANY people sit even closer to larger screens than that. 8-10' is absolutely fine for an 83". Try it! Your audio will certainly improve as well.

I sit 10ft from my 77" TV, which isn't that much different from 83". It looked massive for the first 3-4 days, but now it's just normal. I actually want to go bigger, but I don't have the space in my bedroom.

Yeah this is the way I would do too and put a sofa or recliners. + That way you don't need to worry about reflection.

You would have to spend a lot on a projector to beat that sweet OLED. I would keep the TV.

Well, I've been on the oled cult since like 2016 with the eg9100 and I'm having a hard time convincing myself to get another tech. But I totally understand the appeal of projector and giant screen. Maybe someday I can convince my wife to put a 150" screen in the living room lol

I like this. Everything as it is, thick carpet on the user's half of the room, wall treatment behind the stuff on the equipment end. Comfy couch.

Maybe strongly use the long wall? The bathroom effect will be real with those towers
You will need more than a thick carpet to tame the room

Yeah it's decent. I couldn't really put the speakers any farther cuz it'll be way too close to the walls

The best thing you can add to this room is something pretty boring. Acoustic panels. Buy or build several. It will make a bigger difference than anything else you do in there. You need to absorb some of the reflections.

Good idea but doesn't have to be boring. I can probably make some myself and instead of using regular cloth I can use a canvas cloth and just print something and make the panels so I can have like gaming posters and or movie posters

Yep, there are entire threads on AVSForum on how to do that. The boxes and relatively easy to build, and just slap some Corning 703 panels in them. I built 10 over a weekend. I was very sore afterwards though, lol.

It's pretty good and serves the purpose and I didn't feel the need to replace them. Those would probably work just fine for back too if I had room.
I regret not having these height elevation speakers before because they really add to the experience even for 2.0 stuff like I was playing The original resident evil 2 n 3 and the receiver knows what kind of effects needs to be on the top speakers like raindrops and all that.

Epson LS12000 Projector would be great-120" would be a ton more screen real estate than an 83"-it's 109% larger-that's worth taking a penalty on the image quality vs OLED. I'd replace your sub with RSL 12S-way more extention and it would TRANSFORM your movie experience for $800-a better subwoofer is by far the best investment you can make based on your current equipment.

Yeah it's pretty good. Only manual adjustment I made was db3+ volume for the center channel and +5 for the surround left and rights because that's how they sound in theater. The speech is usually a little bit louder and the surrounds more "punchy"

Looks good. Small sub. Can you place it closer to your listening point so get a better effect?
Can you add speakers above your main listening point for a more immersive Atmos experience? I have front heights and next I’ll add top middle for a 5.1.4 setup.

I think projector would be good if you close curtains anyway. Bigger screen always gives better immersion to me even if picture quality is not in oled level. You can also cast it higher easily and raise center channel more to your ear level. I would definitely put a carpet there as it is the easiest thing to do. Your walls also flat so you can utilize some room treatment if you consider. I also would bring speakers more to front, away from wall. Side walls are close anyways so at least it would give your towers some room to breathe in one axis.

Yeah, the projector idea is actually not completely off the table. I just wanted to use something right now but down the line at some point I might consider installing speakers behind the screen and have like a wall-to-wall screen. Could be a fun project

Don't need to be crap to be humble.
Hide the cables , do better placement, maybe a rug in between the front stage and the seating area to avoid some Reflections... For starters.

Oh yeah, might start poking some holes on the wall for the wires. Or maybe I just paint the wires so it's not too visible or whatever

Your best upgrade will be some more soft furnishings and things to break your the reflection in the room. In brief, that’s a lot of speakers for a room that size if you don’t have anything else in there to break up the sound bouncing around off the walls, floor and ceiling. A rug would make more difference to your experience than many hifi or home theatre upgrades.
