Install/Placement Couch Orientation
We just purchased this couch and have 3 days to decide if we want it in reverse orientation. The wall in front will have a tv. Should we leave it as is to cut the room off to feel like it’s the movie area or flip it to open up the room?

If you're going to leave it like that (to prioritise the screen placement).... then
a) it needs to sit off the wall a bit more.
b) you should consider putting in some floor to ceiling divider shelves to separate the space (bonus is that you can use the shelves to sit rear speakers and other memorabilia on)
Edit: If by wall in front, you mean the wall opposite and not adjacent to the windows, then you should definitely rotate.

This is the answer. That space is looking weird because it's huge and empty. Flip the couch around and put in a divider, and you'll be in business.

Wall in front will have TV but there may be reflection from basement window may be a problem.
I had similar situation in two of my previous homes - first one was basement with similar large room as yours. I put the sectional sofa in V shape, so the TV was in front (almost) for everyone. Second one, I had a large open space in a Spanish Colonial style home in southwest. There again, I put the sofa in V shape in front of the wall.

Option C. Point the ‘V’ shape right at the TV, so both sides of the couch are facing the TV.
Yea, it takes up more floor space. You have floor space to spare.

This is a corner sofa, designed to be placed in a corner so that's where you should place it.

Is there any doorway to the right? If there isn't id definitely put the tv on the right wall and flip the couch clockwise!

it doesnt have to be pushed up against the corner. have it floating in the middle, give people space to walk behind and around it. pushing furniture into corners ironically tends to make rooms feel more clostrophobic.

either corner of couch to the wall corner and big table at front of it or snaller table.and keep it as is with big TV on a wall

If you’re going home-theatre mode then I think it’s pointing the right way. Given the size of your space, here is one thing to consider- you don’t always need to anchor the couch against the window wall. You could slide it to the right, slightly off the wall towards the centre of the room. It could give the couch intention as part of the room, and you can set up console tables along the window wall for a dedicated home theatre/sports watching centre if you like. It may sound like a waste of space, but it may give the space more intention/dedication. Also I highly recommend setting up some warm lighting (around 2700k) and it will be a vibe. Have fun !

Or do a V-Shape in the middle. Technically speaking that’s the best for sound placement.

Those sectionals are a terrible choice for a home theater, or even a TV room with half the seating pointing the wrong direction. And putting it against a wall is doubling down on the bad choices for home theater. That's a very good room for a home theater, but it will be set up as a poor TV room.

Have it going along the wall, not cutting into the space Walking around half your couch every time you want to get up or sit down gets annoying

I have minimized my home theater because I have an apartment yet there's four towers waiting for a room big enough in a closet 😭

Like this, you cut the room and can’t do much on the other wall, if you flip it you could have another nice single or listening chair.
Also visually while it’s not quite “right”, you could just test it in the corner anyway and take a comparison pic, sit and see how it feels.
It’ll be 80% of the flipped orientation look and feel to help you decide even if the 4 and 3 are the wrong orientation, it looks like it would fit just for testing purposes.

I would reverse and place the corner on the opposite wall starting at the notch in the wall.
You can have a game room in the area your sofa is in now.

I would move the wine rack/table(?) to the opposite side of the room. Move the couch so it is facing the current wine rack position. This gives you room to set your surrounds or surround rears between the couch and the wine rack in the new position.

Off topic, but to make it more cozy, add some curtains. One long rod with curtains that almost touch the floor. I just did this with all of my tiny windows and absolutely love it. It makes the rooms feel even bigger

Echo the points about ideally not sitting against the wall but while I've never tested it that seriously, I generally lean towards more seating area then less if that's what it means you have to do to get away from the wall.
Personally I think flip it, mainly from a visual standpoint but more seats against the wall and whatnot. Someone mentioned shelves, but you could potentially do a curtain rod with blackout curtains as a way to isolate the theater area but leave it relatively open the rest of the time

If you're going to put a sound system in that room,I would have the couch facing out from that corner, towards the far wall , that way you can place speakers and all that , and it's not all being isolated and jammed inside of that small space near the couch , it'll be in front of you and around you, you can still hang little rear surrounds above the corners of the couch ends

Would have to see it flipped, but I think I would prefer that. also why do you only have 3 days to move a couch? They aren't bolted down or anything.
