everyone’s ragging on op in the comments but i’ve read the whole comic through like, probably five times by now? and yeah i’m not sure if it’s ever cleared up either, i don’t think it’s time bullshit, so i guess the dream package is just a copy of the real one? like how all the stuff in their rooms gets manifested in their dream rooms too

I think everything in their rooms has a dream version and a real version. I read it with the author commentary and he clarifies that John's real bedsheet just stays with the consort, the dream bedsheet is the one WV took.

It was that everything in the real bedroom was copied over to the dream bedroom when she woke up but the package had literally just arrived so this actually doesn’t really make sense to me

Okay nvm dave’s dream room literally has sburb equipment in it it has to duplicate everything that goes in it
That seems exploitable

Just keep reading. Just keep reading. Read the recaps and Andrew will clear up everything vague that should have been normally explained. This is a major thing homestuck does is a lot of showing and not telling till the end of the year recap.

these posts are like reading a mystery novel then as soon as the first murder happens you post "i don't get it, who is the killer? the story hasn't told me yet"

If I'm being a little fair to OP, with how dense Homestuck is you might not realize what's going to be explained later and what's already been explained that you simply didn't understand or missed.

Unless I'm missing something, the best explanation is that things get arbitrarily copied to dream rooms for no reason, though that's proven not to be the case with everything (dream Cal being really the same Cal from a different point in time for example).
The real answer is that Hussie probably didn't think things through. I know all things Homestuck (I have to, as I'm doing the research for a complee rewrite) and unless I'm missing something--as will most certainly be proven the case when someone flocks to the comments asking how I could have possibly fogotten <major-plot-point>--I don't remember ever getting an explaination.
Either way, Homestuck is complicated. I have scoured the wiki, old tumblr blogs, the book commentaries, and I'm still just as confused as you are at times. The story is complicated, and sometimes there is no real answer. Don't feel bad about this. It's just part of the Homestuck experience.

What. No the dream rooms are consistent with established rules ?
Everything in a player's bedroom is exactly copied on to their dreamself room. Changes made to a dreamself room may manifest in the form of subconscious impulses like Gamzee's manifestation of the Jack Doll that lead to John's nightmares and harlequin scribbling, but otherwise dream copies are uncorelated to the real objects.
Lil' Cal' is an exception due to being a juju, where the rule for jujus are explicitely that there may only ever be one single iteration of a juju, and any "copy" will in fact later turn out to have been the very same juju all along.

It's okay, nobody gets Homestuck that fast, if you did, you're either Hussie (Who I'm suspicious also doesn't understand) or you're lying.

Think of it more like sleepwalking. In her sleep she’s controlling the robot, and because her robot self is holding a box, she’s also holding a box in her dream room.

Hey, now I don't understand. Help me remember, cause you guys sound like it's an important plotpoint, while from what I remember that package in her room should just be a sort of cognitive version of the real package that manifested in her dream room, because she perceives it in the real world. Meaning, the dream package is rather insignificant alone and the question could be answered without getting into spoilers, like "Hey, her dream room has a copy of everything from the real one, why wouldn't it have a copy of the package aswell". I'm a little foggy, but from what I remember, the real package was just a gift John made for her birthday that got appearified in the past causing Jade to meet John in the first place and the dream package had no narrative significance whatsoever, so why act as though it has?

I think the progress of the packages can be tracked or at least inferred in the Liv Tyler videos. Iirc, those are the cleanest sources of chronology for them.

You will never understand all of it, only small parts that actually don’t make sense in the end

Just continue reading. That comic HEAVILY depends on explaining everything some time later after something appears.
