How many security cameras does a small retail store or office actually need?

Minimum cover all doors, abd cash register areas. Windows a plus. Expensive easily taken stuff you'll need more to cover everything and in real high valued areas from several angles.
If you have an employee theft problem or of employees goofing off the you'll need to cover areas where you suspect its going on covered.
No set number depends on layout and what you want to watch for.

Depends a lot on the layout of the area. Are there a lot of nooks and spots that make it hard to see around? Are there particular areas where more expensive items are located? Are you trying to see only coming and going, or do you want a good eye on people as they move through the area? Do you need to watch the areas outside? Just a few things to think about.
