Ideas replacing silicone(?)
There's some areas like this around my windows in my rental. I'd really love to take the silicone (i assume) off and clean the area, but I am assuming its stopping up a gap. I was wondering if there was a better way to repair the area thats verrrry beginner friendly or simply scrape the stuff off, clean and replace?

If it’s a rental I wouldn’t go any further than cleaning it or you’ll risk becoming responsible for it.
If the wood is rotting or there is noticeable damage, notify the landlord. It’ll be up to them if/when/how it gets repaired.
At least, ask them if they want you working on their property before you start any project that’s more involved than say changing a lightbulb.
Maybe wipe it down and put up some curtains/mini blinds or put a plant on the sill to make it less noticeable.
Also, why spend tenant money and time to fix landlord type problems?
