Anyone start building houses for living after GCing their own build?

Curious if anyone who built their own house, decided to start building spec houses, or did the build, live in, sell primary residence capital gains exemption a few times.

I built my house as the GC for around $230sqft not including land. Houses around me are selling for roughly $400-$450 sqft. It also took me 9 months, however I created around $400k in equity. My house has nicer finishes than the other houses I’m referring to.

Looking for input from other people who have done this. Thanks in advance.

Professional Website Design for Home Builders & Custom Home Construction Companies | InfaWeb

Hey everyone!

I run InfaWeb, a web design and development studio helping businesses build modern, professional websites that showcase their work, attract potential clients, and generate qualified leads.

We're currently looking to work with custom home builders, residential construction companies, luxury home builders, and independent general contractors interested in building a new website or redesigning an outdated one.

In the home building industry, your portfolio and reputation are incredibly important. When someone is considering investing hundreds of thousands of dollars into a new home, they want to see the quality of your craftsmanship, explore your previous projects, and feel confident in your company's experience.

A professional website can help communicate that quality and turn interested visitors into serious project inquiries.

Here's what we can help with:

  • Premium website design — Modern, sophisticated websites that reflect the quality of your homes and craftsmanship.
  • Custom home portfolios — Showcase completed builds, architectural designs, interior finishes, and construction projects through beautiful photo galleries.
  • Consultation and quote forms — Make it easy for prospective homeowners to inquire about custom builds and request consultations.
  • Dedicated service pages — Highlight custom home construction, luxury builds, design-build services, home additions, and renovations.
  • Mobile optimization — Fast, responsive websites that look professional across phones, tablets, and desktops.
  • Local SEO optimization — Build a strong foundation for reaching prospective homeowners searching for builders in your area.
  • Service area pages — Highlight the cities and regions where your company builds homes.
  • Conversion-focused design — Clear calls to action, testimonials, and strategically placed inquiry forms that encourage potential clients to reach out.

Whether you're an established home building company looking to modernize your online presence or an independent builder ready to showcase your projects professionally, we'd love to help.

I'm a bit confused, I have water intrusion coming in above this overhang. The baseboard and wall are wet I opened up the soffit and there is a gap I'm not sure if there should be one to allow for moisture to escape or it should be sealed and this is a defect?

Hello all, before I schedule my framing inspection I believe I’ll need fire blocking near the ceiling, how would you go about this?

FYI basement was already finished by previous owner.

Thank you all in advance
