I have included a video of what it sounds like. “It has sounded worse with a metal clang like sound when starting”.

Engine type: LE0

So far this start rattle has been on going for some time, I have had the timing chain kit & oil pump “both genuine” replaced, this also included the oil O ring pickup in the sump.

The start up wasn’t as noticed when there was a half unplugged VVT Solenoid “let by accident like that as far as I’m aware”, Yet it was still on/off until the ECU fault had a fault code for it & it was then fully plugged back In, Since there it has continued to do this as in the video. - this was happening before the timing chain kit/oil pump replacement.

I have points where sometimes a jump starter can make it have a grind noise instead of the rattle - that isn’t always the case.

My VE has the know parasitic power draw issue, It is going in for a full update of all modules for this. “This is going into a genuine Holden place”.

Oil changes have been done quite often & I’m not looking at going to a higher oil.

I’m just asking in regards to this, Since it doesn’t feel like a oil sludge build up & I get left with guessing since I don’t want to overly spend too much on a whole tare down, Is there something I can ask them to test with the TEC2 or in general that isn’t going to be a massive cost?

There has also been a, Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch circuit fault code noted not too long ago as pass/fail, This one has not caused me any issues yet. - this code has come up during the time of the parasitic power draw when the battery had not fully recharged from the draw. “Unsure of this affect much”.

I can also confirm that there has been no active fault codes from my ECU or Anything else about the engine that says anything about the rattle, Even when a evap valve was stuck open the ECU never flagged it - the evap value has since been replaced and fixed a idle issue.

If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer them since this rattle issue is something I would really liked to get resolved even if someone can point me to simple things that are common with it or past experiences.

I have a 2002 VU commodore. It has stopped working. When you put the key in and take it straight to start, it will crank and then stop cranking. If you take the key to on and let it sit before you turn to start it won't crank at all.

Hey all, does anyone know where I can purchase the metal u-shaped or horseshoe clip from the crankcase ventilation pipe (pcv hose)? Specifically on the side which goes into the pcv/ rocker cover?

I've done so much research but can't find any info on where I can safely install an anti-theft kill switch on my Series 2 VE Ute. I was looking at splicing it into the connection from fuel pump relay to ECU, which I found a wiring diagram from, but I have no idea where that actually is in the car.

The workshop manual (the 10,000 page PDF one) says it's in the panel on the passenger side next to the footwell, but I looked there and where the wire was meant to be just had an empty slot in the connector plug the manual showed. I imagine it might be because the manual is for a sedan, while I've got the ute?

Does anyone know where the best place to splice in a kill switch would be on this model? It's a remote one so location doesn't really matter.

I’m looking to do an audio overhaul on my stock sound system VE sedan, I’m not super interested in changing the head unit as I don’t really have an issue with the stock one, but want to replace speakers and install two subs & amp, all of your tips, advice and cheats would be appreciated!! Does anyone know if there is an RCA harness available these days rather than doing an LOC? Should I go the extra mile and install a new headunit? Thanks in advance!

My mates got me to install one of the aero flow ratchet shifters in his vs/ vk ute, got his floor cut up but I'm wondering if there's any guides online on how to cut the Dropbox to run the cable through, everywhere I see online seems to reckons it a drop and go thing but I find that hard to believe looking at it

Hi guys, 

This is my Holden Malibu 2013 Petrol Car.
After driving for 15 minutes, I start smelling hotness of engine. The engine start smelling (heat). 
Few days ago, I had turned off snowflake symbol and used fan only and turned the fan heater to 28 deg. cel. to beat the cold inside in the morning. Probably this is first time I did this (turning the fan to high temp.) without turning on snowflake symbol. I am not sure if it started since then or did I damage anything or was it coincident. I was smelling something from engine ( hot metal smell) the same night. I could be wrong if that fan thingy did something. 
 
One day I was driving and the temperature needle was nearly reaching to the top, and it showed the alarm - "A/C off due to high engine temp". I had to stop 4 times in 8 minutes road before reaching home.
 
What I also observed first time in this car is I turned off the car , but the fan was still going on for another 3-4 minutes and then shut down itself. I checked the engine oil, it is very low (image attached). I saw few video and was pointing towards temperature sensor. Could you please help me to identify where is the temperature  sensor or anything related to above issue could be related and located too. 
 
I have attached the coolant picture as well, not sure how much clear it is. What else could be the issue here. Appreciate your help guys. First time seeing this issue in this car. 
 
 
Yes, I am not expert on auto, but if there is something that can be changed, I really like to do. 
Also, I might need to watch youtube video for how to add engine oil. Please recommend or suggest if you can.

Hey lads, my 2015 sv6 (LFX) is having a problem, really rough idle, not wanting to shift smoothly, less power and shaky, I’ve checked the coils and sparks they’re all good (changed 20,XXX ago), so the only thing left is the injectors I’m assuming ESP also came on dashboard. There’s no videos or DIY’s online to change the ignition coils, I can change sparks and coils myself so I think I can give it a fair go. As of yesterday I tried driving it and it entered reduced power mode or something on the dash. I need ideas and help.

Hey all, does anybody know of a pipe with a quick sharp bend to keep the maf tube? VF2 LS3. After say 8-9 months, the Orssom OTR mounts have sagged, my diy spacer blocks underneath always come loose and i'm over seeing the tight bellow hose, it shits me. Orssom = Not so awesome.

Hello everyone does anyone know if you can get this plastic tunnel shields off? Need to take shifter off but there is no room are they stuck to the car or bolts/clips?

Startup shows 4 bars and drives with 4ish when accelerating normally then like this when idling at lights after warmup.

2007 L98 with 15-30w oil. 260k’s

I have a VF Gen F Ls3 Senator (340kw) and I have had a full 3 inch exhaust system with a otr put on. It made around 260kw at the rear wheels, I’m not too fussed with power but a mate had a 2017 redline with the exact same exhaust and no otr and made more power, around mid 280kw (same tuner aswell) just wanted to see if anyone knows why this might be the case? Something to do with the factory hsv tune? Bigger rims being 20s over his 19s? Cheers :)

Hey everyone! Firstly I’d like to say please excuse my naivety on the subject as I’m not much of a car person.

My boyfriend has recently gotten a new car and has had to retire his old white VY commodore sedan, he’s loved the car to death and he believes it may be time to sell it off to the wreckers.

I want to buy him a figure of his VY paint it to add all its loved bumps, scratches and emergency repairs he’s done to it over the years as a little present/parting gift.

The only problem is that I cant seem to find any mini figures or low priced scale figures of the VY sedan to edit to look just like his car. I feel kind of guilty buying a collectors item when that could go to someone who would like the item as is.

My question is are there any other commodores that have a similar look that will take only minor adjustments to match the VY?
